Do you really think that a state that does not want homosexual marriage will accept it?
They will accept it the same way they were forced to accept mixed race marriages and civil rights for racial minorities.
Same sex marriage are in fact less of a change than the racial civil rights changes.
There will be far fewer changes and it will be hardly noticeable that same sex marriages even exist.
The people making a mountain out of a mole hill are the ones against same sex marriages.

I think that the USSC will not overturn any states law on homosexual marriage, that is where it will end.
So yes you are right it will be a moot point.
and btw the homosexuals are the ones who have made this an issue... it has and will continue to cost kerry votes.

What jont liability for things such as debts and joint assets in the marriage ?
One spouse moves to a state that doesn't recognize the marriage after the other spouse runs up huge medical bills and can't pay.
In many states a married spouse is responsible for the medical bills of his/her spouse.
So they can cash in their assets and the other spouse can move to a state that doesn't recognize the marriage.

If both names are on the bills, doesn't matter... both are still required to pay... has nothing to do with marriage...
Have homosexuals never heard of a will?
never heard of power of attorney?
living will?
There many venues that will get them what they want without being married...

Just like Bush's stance on a constitutional amendment has cost him votes.

Not really, people who are for homosexual marriage wouldn't of voted for President Bush anyway... however those that usually vote democrat, in fact vote republican because of this issue...
It has already been noted that President Bush will probably garner more the black vote this year because of this issue.

Sure he will...how silly to say differently.
Cheney has said he supports each state deciding for themselves. And that's just what they're doing. State after state after state is voting against gay marriage.

Well, we'll find out in less than a month, when 11 more state ballots will have this issue on them.
So far the gay community only looks hopeful for two states....and doesn't sound real strong in either of those. But they're pouring $600,000. into Oregon. Only Portland is heavily gay...the rest of the state, small towns don't don't really show much support for the gay agenda. Time will tell.

twelve says,

But is only the name of one person is on the bill, and only that person is the guarantor of the bill, the hospital looses. Not all bills will be joint in responsibility.

Reamond, that is a very true statement. If I told twelve and linda that I saw four black people at a restaurant sitting eating their lunch, they would say, so what! Who cares about that? But on February 1, 1960, it made national news.
Just as this is no longer a news article, gay marriage won't be in a few years either. Just as their are still bigots who hate Blacks, there will be bigots who will hate Gays too.

The USSC will very likely end up ruling on the Gay Marriage. It rules on everything from abortion to the death penalty. The Supreme Court is being asked to determine moral issues that fall outside the scope of strict constitutional interpretation.
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says, "It is blindingly clear judges have no greater capacity than the rest of us to determine what is moral."
As I have said time and again, the final decision will NOT be based on any religious doctrine, in the fact the US government doesn't recognize any certain religion. It will be decided based on equality for those involved. The simple fact is that Gay Americans are equal as citizens. There is no citizen that has a legal right to be married. I don't think the court will allow a segment of the population to have a certain right and another segment denied the same right.

It is apalling how you lefties keep trying to tie this to the civil rights movement of the 60's... but I guess when something can't stand on merit by itself a crutch is needed... of course this is backlashing on the homosexuals...
