She's back...she's bad and most of all she's Pissed!
I picked Cleo up at five. She is home now in her little kitty bed sleeping off the drugs.
When I picked her up she wouldn't even look me in the eye.
She is really mad at me. Next time I'm going to get someone else to bring her in. I hate being the bad guy.
We have to restrict her movement for three weeks. Now that should be fun. Sort of like herding grasshoppers.
Thanks everyone.

Wonderful that she came through it well, and be glad she's not a cat--she'd be hissing at you right now.

Maybe you can rig up a mini-K-9 cart for her during her convalescence, assuming she had just one or two of her knees done. Then she can bop around without hurting herself. She's going to be so happy when she can run around again!

I'm so happy for you & Cleo. I think it's important to bring her home. I've been through this too & I always try & insist on bringing my pet home after surgery because I know I will be right there if needed. There is uually no one at the vets at night & I am never happy about that. I'm so glad she is home with you.

Tegan How's Cleo doing? Hope she's feeling better and not still pouting! We've got a little one that has never forgiven us for having her spayed last year. Anytime I put her in the crate now to take her to the vet she goes into a frantic panic that last for the whole drive.

Mybiddness: she is still mad as a wet hen.
I've seen a wet hen and believe me she is that mad. She won't look at me or my husband. She does let us carry her around when she gets sick of her bed though, in fact she insists.
She is holding her head up now and whines to be picked up. She still won't eat or drink
but I'm not supposed to worry about that until tommorow. She had gotton out of her bed twice and I am worried she will injure herself if she doesn't stop it.
I'm hoping her pain pills will keep her knocked out long enough to heal a little more.

Was Cleo a jumper? Our little pup, Abbey can jump a good 4 feet in the air (looks that high) when she gets excited. Every once in a while she'll limp around for a day or two - the vet said that there's nothing they can do - but after reading about Cleo it makes me wonder if we'll have the same problem down the road. Abbie's a yorkie mix - I wonder if that's just part of the personality.

Mybiddness:
Cleo is a terrible jumper. Both up in the air and from one piece of furniture to the next ,she thinks she is a cat but unfortunatly she ofton misses what she aims for.
Cleo would limp around every once in a while too. Her knees would slip out of joint and slip back in on thier own. She would be limping one minute and running the next.
It was very odd.
If that is what is wrong with your dog the vet would be able to slip her knees out of joint at will. Also cleo never limped for days until she tried to jump from the couch to the chair and missed. She limped for a whole day that time and it deteriorated from there.

I've got a feeling that we're heading for the same thing down the road. Abbey mainly gets excited around very small children. I think she just wants them to pick her up. It's pretty incredible watching her jump though. That's gotta be causing some damage. We recently got her a little running buddy to help her get out some of that energy and that seems to have calmed her down - although there is a little jealousy there. Oh well, we swapped one problem for another.

Good luck on keeping Cleo quiet for 3 weeks. If she's like Abbey it'll be a big job. Is she still pi$$ed?

Tegan,

I'm glad everything went well. Also glad Cleo is pissed. That means that she is feeling fine and doing a real guilt trip on you. Enjoy it and hope she doesn't figure out guilt trips are fun.

I'm going to enjoy following her recovery.

Hey, Mybid.

Hi Calamity It's been a while. I've been playing hooky all day today - I spent most of the day just painting and hanging around here. Glad you popped in!

Cleo went to the Vet today and got a clean bill if health. She is running around on three legs and looks really silly.
The knee seems to work fine but it makes this funny creaky sound that worries me. She gets the stitches out monday.
Although that shaved leg looks like it belongs in a bucket from KFC.
Thanks all for the support.
She is back to her old happy self and I am so glad.
