You know that everyone complains about auction fees but do they think auction sites are charitable organizations that are out to help mankind out of the kindness of the hearts?
The problem with online auctions is not the fees. It is the intense competition brought on by there being far too many sellers in relation to the number of actual buyers.
The buyers can now shop around and determine the best possible price for the item they want to purchase and can even wait for a better offer in the near future as there are certain to be more items being offered up unless the item they want is very rare.
That is the dilema facing online sellers today, not the auction fees needed for auction sites to survive, expand and advertise.

THats very true , The sooner online auctions and selling loses its get rich quick reputation the faster the playing ground will leval for them still willing to work to make the dollars that are actually out there to be made.
in fact the reason so many want to sell at these sites is because of the lack of control ebay and yahoo have a certin amount buy requireing credit card number and chargeing fees to sell but there will need to be more work to become a seller before this balances out the right way.
anyone can own a B&M store if they want it enough and have the will and energy to do the leg work and paper work to get all the permits and so on Money is not even an issue that will get in your way if you really want to have the business since the money is out there in the forum of grants and low interest loans for someone willing to work to find and get it.
these processes separate the people who really want whatthey say and are willing to work a little for it and them who just want a free lunch and some who think the world owes theem a living.
There is no longer enough obsitcals in the way of setting up to sell online.
Old computers are a dime a dozzen many give them away to be rid of them or sellthem for a few dollars.
Credit card info is easy come by These days people without credit card usually have access to debit card which work like a credit card.
Internet access is simple to find and very low cost today when I first got a computer late 80s ISPs were hard to come by you had about one choice of three with a local access number and to use it the dailup time was $2.99 to $3.99 per hour , Today unlimited dailup access for pennies a month abound.
in the earily days of ebay and computers few had computers and talk about selling buying online made you the envy of any group or party as most didn't have computers or local access to online in there area so when they got near a computer with it they would rush to bid on ebay from a friends account no one complained that there buyer had no email as this was not unusal .
TOday the way people talk about online buyer most of there money isnt green enough ..

Today to be an Online auction seller, have a website or auction site just makes you one of milions of others use to be to have these things was daring to be different.
today not to have them is like having no tv no car or having not even one person who drives in a house hold you are seen as strange even second or third class citizens.
Today in this country most things are so well hidden from site That for many households surviving on less then $10,000 is almost un-thinkable and every now and then a news story about such things will pop up where it causes lots of talk how ever talk is cheap .
285 million people in this country and less then one quater are even close to middle class, there are more families and people in the rich class today then 20 years ago but they are still far and few between and of all the people with a billion dollars in wealth we mainly have been tossing around the same names with a few new ones tossed in for the last 35 years.
many online believe that garage saling and thrift store are still popular and thriving today thanks to ebay but the truth is many families survive and thrive on these to cloth there families and have things like TV radio have a table to eat dinner at and other things in there homes.
in the past this small group of middle class was called yuppys spending there every dollar on the latest and the newest, then it was the now generation with there credit cards making it posiable to have Now without working or saving for what they own.
Today is the About me generation where many nearly 45 million take garage sale and thrift store items the majority of the population are dependent on and by it up to sell online at a 300% return.
Use to be a lower income family could decorate and have quite a nice home for what ebay sellers turned into a 6 to8 billion dollar a year industry, most of these lower income families are today Ebay buyers many still havent been able to work there way in to the computer world as of yet still either lacking knowlege or money to get there.
all inline auction sellers can talk and #*!@ about is how there pprofits are dropping off from what they use to be but what they are really doing is thumbing there noses at there true market the people who alway bought these items and know there true value.
For the sellers who know there market and treat them right they will make out well for them who never come to admit it they will fail.
I said this nearly two years ago When computer price started dropping fast now well under $1000 for a new computer that if people were looking to sell there items for bigger dollars they were looking in the wrong direction because as computer prices dropped the market would be the lower income bracket money will still be made but rather then through more bids and higher ending prices it would be made through selling volume ata lower price.
Now the lower income don't have to wear out the motors and breaks on there only car going to trift shops and garage sales and flea markets the internet brings it directly in there homes for sale.
The money these people save on repairing there older cars weekly by travaling less can be spent on ISP services and buying online but its still not all that much if you like ebay trying to get more million dollar ending prices your business over the next 4 or 5 years will shrink or fail.
the key is knowing your market and the internet market is getting bigger but at the same time the income levels of each is getting lower more people with less $$ to spend per person.
Many more of the higher income internet users will start to feel the disapoint ment over the next years and much of the big money will all be moving over to internet 2 which is nearly ready for prime time internet 2 is being developed for the business and commercial class leaving what we have here to the want to be's, spammers and the kids.
Prices will continue to fall on ebay and otheronline site of its kind till these sites become just what they alway were flea market bulletin boards.
I have said this since the day I got involved in online auction selling these sites need to stop charging per listing and double dipping for FVF and things and start charging a fixed fee of $20 or so monthly.
Jamie may or may not be the right person to pull something like this off but I can guarentee that in the next 15 to 24 months many will be praying for such services as they keep up there high hope for 300% and 500% return on the .25 investments as the income levels of the communities become lower.

It's hard to build those sites without revenue. Eventually most free sites either go under
or have to start some sort of scheme
to bring in revenue.

Just for curiosity sakes, I tried to go to www.auctionpie.com and all I get is "page cannot be displayed." Is the site not up for viewing yet or is there a different address. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing the layout of the site.

All that is needed is to stop thinking it takes millions and billion to do these things most have been doing for little to nothing for the last 35 years..
Free Local BBS has been around for ever and is more then a sucess it is what made world wide BBS or the web of today posiable.
there is 1.3 billion website on the internet you can't even believe everyone is makeing profit or has big money backing and everyone of these sites has some sort of infomation or service someone in this world is looking for.
mind set is whats wrong in these matters !!!!
the only thing causing these failures is the peoples thinking it can't or wont work look at these message boards they are full of people who are sitting and jokingand laughing about site failures, it's almost as if its all they get online to see.
if these people would just stop watching this and jump in and help market and spred the word any one or more site would suceed as well or better then Ebay, Ebay is big but is still very small compairded to the scope of the internet it don't take millions of people or dollars to make something sucessfull just some working toward the same goals.

Beta testing starts tommarow on this site, you are more then likely getting this error because they probably have changed there DNS two switch servers.
its in the middle of propagating to the new server.
Nope maybe not I just tried to get to freeservers and 50meg.com and there who server is down..

ok freeservers is back up and online the auctionpie domain shows its still use NS1&2freeservers.
but it looks as if the index page has been moved renamed or deleted from there server.

As prices drop on eBay the sellers all hate it. But the buyers migrate to the cheap prices. The cheaper the prices the more buyers show up at eBay. The number of buyers are want really counts. If a bunch of sellers leave eBay a bunch more will rush in to take their place. How does moving to a low traffic site help a seller sell items? He gets lower fees but can barely sell anything. I see it as only two options for all sellers mad at eBay fees and seller competition: either put up with eBay or quit selling/move to flea market selling. Moving to the low traffic sites isn't even a viable option.

Except that eBay is shooting itself in the foot by making it harder and harder for new folks to register as sellers. Pretty soon they're going to want a sample of you DNA for the priviledge ...
