"I won't say what the birth year is but I was in college in the 70's and I believe the 70's were Great. Great Music"

Near-my wife graduated college in 1973.Shes 6 years younger then I,but we both loved the 70's music-they were the greatest of times. We lived 25 miles north of N.Y.C. and had seen just about every major rock star in the 70's.Two of my favorite concerts were:

1-1978-in Philadelphia's Ben Franklin Football field. We saw Fleetwood Mac on their "Rumors" Tour with Bob Welch and The Steve Miller Band.
2-1980-the Yale Bowl in New Haven,Ct.We saw the Eagles on their "Long Run Tour"-with the Little River Band and Heart. There were between 60 and 70 thousand people there for each of those two concerts and it took us about 2 hours to get out of the parking lot each time.
Being that we're a half hour from Madison Square Garden,we had seen the likes of Neil Diamond,The Bee Gees,Bob Seger,John Denver,Chicago,Billy Joel,Elton John and Elvis(before he got fat and heavy).

Great music came out of the 70's. My first concert was Grand Funk Railroad. $5 got you a night of great music. It think my favorite concert was Paul McCartney and Wings. Cat Stevens was great as well. There were a few concerts at the Cleveland Stadium that were loads of fun. Ken's the same age as me and hates the 70's stuff. He likes the new rock. I, on the other hand, can't stand most of it.

We can, for the most part, ignore the fact that Disco came out in the 1970's. Some of it was okay.

I remember dancing every weekend to Disco for several years during the 70s. I loved that stuff. Still do.

.damn I shouldnt have said that, logansdad will be in here after me lol!!! Where is logansdad - wonder if something has happened to him...or maybe just got fed-up of us all

My first concert was the beach boys. My friends father took a bunch of us at M.S.G. We were still pre-teens But even with her dad there, it didnt matter. I remember thinking and feeling it was just so awesome. First time in a place like that, the music, the show, and all. (I dont even think I was a beach boys fan much though, but I throughly enjoyed the show.)

We werent way up top, like maybe the blue or something, but I cant really remember. The only concert I ever had good seats to was Genesis, on the floor. And Springstein on the 2nd tier that I won from a radio station.

I had a great time with disco and dancing, too. But I think I enjoyed the early punk movement the most.

Terryann Happy Belated Birthday to you!

I'm an Aries. I don't know much about signs though!

OMG, all the music you mentioned Classic and Cheryl I have on CDs, before that on cassettes, and before that...... VINYL LOL!!

Grand Funk Railroad, Credence, Led Zepplin, and yes, even some disco (I mean I went and saw Saturday Night Fever when it first came out, and we LOVED the music from that movie back then! )

I've been to concerts, back then you could do just about ANYTHING, smoke (both kinds ) I was ALWAYS afraid I'd get hit by the flying frisbees being thrown across the colisuem!! man were those the days?

I don't care much for the music today. I ESPECIALLY do not like the new musicians REMAKES of the old 70's stuff.

When Madonna came out and did American Pie I cringed!

The concert I would dearly love to see now, is Elton John.

My favorite CD's now is Head East -Flat as a Pancake, and Uriah Heep -Demons and Wizards.

I really loved the 70's...........

LOL Near, aint that truth! The smell was always wafting so thick and cops just stood around getting contact highs too. And we didnt have to go through metal detectors and junk either. Except for the occasional fight, or somebody flippen out, I dont remember a whole lot of violence or commosion either. But then again, I was kinda into what I was doing and never paid too much attention to the rest of anything else.

Happy Birthday TerryAnn. Wow. Lots of Aries on this board. Near, aries are usually extremely bright, hard-headed, sometimes self-centered but they are referred to the boy/girl scout of the zodiac because they like to help people. Most good astrologers are Aries. Oh and they almost always wind-up with Libra partners.

Happy Belated Birthday to you too Terry!! (Btw, you have a great name - it means supreme beauty in some other language somewhere.)

I remember some biker friends my boyfriend had at the time (the 70's) and one night we all did some acid together. I was the only girl there and a bit uncomfortable with all these biker guys. We kept listening to Santana albums over and over and after about an hour, the acid started kicking in. Somewhere along the line, me and my boyfriend somehow convinced these guys that they were talented musicians. There were 2 guitars in their house and after awhile, some were convinced they were better guitar players than Carlos Santana (the guitars weren't plugged in or anything). Some even did a few solos and by the end of the night, they were all ready to sign recording contracts.

It was the most fun and I had the most laughs ever and we all became good friends after.

Also, a friend told me he did acid in the 70's and wrote a book explaining how to fix everything in the world. He said when he read it a few months later, it was the stupidest thing he'd ever read.

I've been to a few concerts...CCR, Animals, 3 Dog Night, Heart, Boston, Chicago. I still have almost 350 albums on vinyl, someday I'll probably list them. I did sell all of my Beatles about 6 years ago. Still had the posters and paper dolls and whatever came in them. Even then, I didn't trash songbooks or album covers or hang the posters.

I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with Jasmine when we saw Boston in San Antonio. I could have killed my ex when I found we were in the next to the last row, in the nosebleed section. When the guys behind us started lighting and throwing strings of firecrackers, I was glad. I got a buzz from their exhaust also.

My birthday is/was March 16th- so I'm a Pisces. (However, it's so close to Aries-the ram, that that's probably where my hard head comes from...)

Classic, we used to vacation up near the Poconos, and every time we'd reach around near Newark Airport, my father would say, "smells like were almost home."

db-when I was in the Navy back in the mid sixties,my first duty station was Annapolis,Md
I would drive home on Friday afternoon and drive back on Sunday night.I'll never forget driving on the Jersey Turnpike and just south of Newark Airport was Elizabeth,N.J. and the smell of the smog was unbelieveable.
I have lots of friends in Bergen Co.most are around the Saddlebrook area.
Me and the wife are about 1 1/2 hrs from the poconos.About 3 or 4 times a year we trek to a place called "bushkill falls" to go hiking.Pa is a fun place to take day trips down rt 209 to the Deleware water gap.

I love CCR! I had a boyfriend back then whose name was Craig Carter Richmond - CCR. I never forgot his name even after all these years. That's one way to remember an old boyfriend's name. LOL!

I still have some of my old records. They're not in the greatest shape, but I'll never let go of them.

classic

You are so right about the new rock. I even hate the one where they re-did a Pink Floyd song. Ken thinks it's even better than Pink Floyd. Nothing is better than Pink Floyd.

I wasnt a fan of Pink Floyd. They were, along with ELP and Yes were considered "progressive rock" which I never cared for.I wanted to see the Eagles as they are playing here in the New York at this time. The tickets on Stubhub.com and Ebay are too much,so "classic" aint going.
There are a couple of other concerts that I went to-one was Rick Nelson's "Garden Party"The infamous concert where he was booed at.Back then the actual concert was called 'Richard Naders Rock and Roll Revival" He put on a number of "oldie" concerts which consisted mainly of 50 and 60 artists which we went to a few of.Madison Square Garden is a tough place to play. They say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere, which is exactly true.We went to see Elvis in June of 72.There was a comedian that came on first.Well the 19,000 people that were there just came to see Elvis. They booed this guy unmercifully after every joke, and half way thru his routine he stated "okay you win,I've had enough" and walked off stage, whereby everybody gave a rousing ovation-it was bad.
