I just posted a new auction that says I'm verified and there is a little icon. It's the only one like that since this just occurred a while ago.
Nothing is ever simple.
Guys -- sorry, I goofed. (We are human, after all!) In order to respond to user demand for a special verified logo, we developed one that shows "verified" when a user "crawls" a mouse over it. We're also working with eBay to get approval for other "verified" logos, and it was one of those that we made available too early, due to a miscommunication we had with ebay. Sorry! Don't worry -- eBay has assured us that they won't strip anyone's auction over this, and we've made 100% sure that the new, current verified logo (with the crawl-over) that we just made available is eBay OK.
Sorry again about the miscommunication, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. X.com will continue to work closely with eBay to keep providing both our users with great services, and I will do everything in my power to keep everybody informed and up-to-date!

That looks better. Now it's broken down into 3 logos, each of a compliant size, on a transparent background. The whole thing is still 50 X 250 pixels, but I can see where eBay would approve this.
The good news: Nobody has to try to remove the non-compliant PayPal logo from their auctions, as PayPal can just tweak the image from their server.

Amusing really. The logos have been morphing all day long. I was over on one of the boards and one of the pinks said there'd be an announcement if something changed about logo sizes.
Right after I listed a new auction with 'verified' on it, I looked again, it was gone.
But I'll say this; I've tried Bidpay. Have NOT gone to Billpoint and do not plan to, so please, Damon, keep us posted. PayPal is very popular with buyers and sellers.
Quick, easy and painless. I like it!

Thanks Damon...I knew I could count on Paypal...No big deal..Yes, humans do occasionally make errors...Nice of you to admit your "goof"..Thanks again...

Was just at the soap box on ebay and according to a post there from community support, the new logos are still not compliant. They must be 88X33 and no bigger, and they are still 250X33 and 250X50.

Much ado about nothing! Typical eBay harrassment of a service that is far superior to Shrillpoint!
Out of over 200 auctions, only 1 (count them, one!) person (from the UK) asked for Shrillpoint! I told him I'd rather listen to William Shatner singing "LSD" while parking my butt on a fire-ant hill, before I'd accept Shrillpoint -- he was VERY understanding & sent CASH!

OH I agree, have never and will never use billpoint, Paypal is great and I am sure that there is just miscommunication along the lines some where.
I just hope they can figure it out. None of use can afford to have ebay warnings over a lousy banner being to big, which you know they would do in a heart beat since they want us to use billpoint. But my faith is and has been with paypal.

PayPal may "rule" (and I don't disagree with that opinion), but I think it's a little sad that a company whose business is dealing in figures can't tell the difference between 88x33 and 250x50.

Ok, I don't want to rain on the parade and I don't want to be a pain in the butt, but, If thats the case, why is there someone on the ebay town square, who is complaining that ebay ended her auctions because the paypal banner was to large. She got no warning, just a note that all five of her auctions were ended for the banner being to large. She had bids on items, and now they are gone.
She had to relist all five and lost the 40 bids that she prior to them being ended.
Please get this fixed quickly, this is getting to crazy and ebay sure isn't cooperating one bit or so it seems.

I think eBay cooperating with PayPal would be a bit like the Germans putting beach chairs up for the allies for the D-Day invasion.
I'm a bit disappointed that PayPal didn't have their butt covered on this logo issue. They know that they are a barnacle on eBay's butt and shouldn't let crap like this happen.
I love PayPal, and I know you're just doing your job. But we're 5 days into this now, and you've had people telling you since Sepember 2 that the logos weren't compliant with eBay's posted guidelines.
It was a blunder to issue non-compliant logos, while labeling them eBay compliant. PayPal has further blundered by not taking the input of its users seriously, and continually issuing vague statements like: "We've checked, and the logos are in compliance. No misunderstanding." Dig a little deeper next time, OK?
This doesn't inspire confidence.
But I still love PayPal. And I'll take a blundering PayPal over BillPoint any day.

Hi magazine guy,
I apologize for the original error, which was caused by a fair amount of miscommunication on the verified logo issue. Ebay has agreed not to suspend anyone's auctions while this is corrected and while we attempt to get acceptance by them on the new logo(s).

I want to continue to use PayPal...but this is getting out of hand. If I can find a way to get rid of ( cancel ) the automatic logo insertion.....I will do that. I will just mention in my text description that I use Paypal...and to HECK with the logo! If I can't un-do the automatic insertion feature...I will just watch for the email that they have updated my auctions, and rush to revise my auction before any bids are placed....and DELETE that STUPID logo myself!
<p>This is insane, to sit and wait nervously for Ebay to end my auctions......I can't believe that these HUGE companies are not any better at communicating than this. <p>
When I finally reached a real live person at PayPal ( after almost two hours of being on hold...at my expense mind you.....he told me he could never understand why Ebay didn't like their large logos in the first place. I explained to him that it was obvious...they had their own Bill Point credit card system. " Oh" ...he replied...." I didn't know that." Makes me wonder where they are getting their customer service help.....and do they train them? Do they have ANY idea of what is going on? I also told him he should check the Auction Watch chat room and see what an uproar was going on. He thought that was interesting, and asked me if I would give him the URL. I only wish there was a way to get that fat logo off of my auctions that have bids. Hard enough to get bids lately....and to think that suddenly Ebay might just up and end your auction...is not a comforting thought.

It is sooooo amazing what you guys will do for the word "verified."
Why don't you just write it like a headline. You could even color
it opera pink and make it blink!!! Just think how glorious that
would be.

Hi magazine_guy,
Our VP of Strategic Relations had the conversation and not me. I don't know the contact name at eBay, but I made sure that this was clarified before posting anything on the subject.

Thanks for the assurance. I did read that before when you posted it, and was feeling better about it, until I saw this message...which I copied and will try to paste below.....Maybe this was not so....but it was enough to set me on edge again.

If you can direct me to the thread I will see where I can assist the user. They could have been using one of the older logos that were much larger than the current ones.

Hi Damon...will copy and paste the WHOLE email I received, which I believe has the thread at the top of the message.

Damon....I think I goofed. I'm sure you wanted the thread from Ebay, not the one from Auction Watch here. Below.....the url, and the posted message. Also....you mentioned the OLD HUGE logos....those are the ones that suddenly showed up on my auctions!
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I checked my email and I had a notice from [email protected]
that Aisling sent stating that he had ended my auctions because my paypal
logo that I was using was too large. Now I had over 40 bids on the 5
auctions and now they have been wiped from the system and I cannot
retrieve the bidders who had bid on them. I only had 3 days left-does Ebay
not give warnings first? I think it was totally unfair to me to end them
without a notice to me. The email stated that the paypal logo could only
have up to 10 words in it and I have seen many many auctions using more
words than that in their paypal logo. Has anyone ever had this happen and
what do I do? I relisted the item but I want a higher up that I can complain
to because I think it was unfair to me. I would appreciate any help! Thank
you, Pat
Thank you for the information. I contacted the user and I am waiting for their feedback. I mentioned the older logos because some users (apparently) kept the html coding for them.
I accept payments from anyone with a credit card at PayPal - always FAST, FREE and SECURE! For a limited time only, you'll get $5 for signing up and activating your account.
There's walking on thin ice, and then their's jumping on thin ice.
On a humorous note, the "time only, you'll get $5 for signing up" text is in violation of eBay's rules, I did a search and there's a few still including that line... over 195,000 matches. LOL

Thanks uaru for the laugh! Much needed at this point.
I have a dumb question. How do you manage to find what the actual pixel size is of these huge logos? I see it is huge, but don't know how to find the actual pixel count. In page source....or.....????
