Jada, I found her work on porn as a civil rights issue clever. I could care less about her sex life. Personally I think sex (pleasure in) is a gift from God andnot a commodity.
In my opionion, degredation of any human and promoting the concept as pleasureable and acceptable is NOT a "freedom". It is a CRIME. To appreciate the beauty of the physical form is one thing. To portray humans as objectified for use/abuse is quite another.
By the way, regarding the Janet Reno comment, wouldn't you agree that attitude would be likely to target specific people
Yes I would. But I absolutely do NOT buy that pornography is protected as a "religion". That is a joke (a horrible one) to even suggest as a comparison. It is an insult to EVERY religion.

jt, but what you're totally missing in all of this, is the definition of "degrading". What your definition of degradation and another persons definition of it, could be and are, two totally different things.
Are you (and others) SO afraid to admit, that there are people out there that do like to be spanked, whipped, dominated, etc. People being defined as men, women, lesbians, homosexuals, transexuals, bi-sexuals, hermaphrodites, etc. YES, there are perfectly NORMAL people out there, who do enjoy this type of lifestyle. There are just as many people out there who enjoy exhibitionism. Is it beyond your (and other's) comprehension that these people do derive sexual pleasure from their own personal choices?
You can not degrade and exploit someone who is a willing participant in a lifestyle of their choice.
If you choose to argue that that lifestyle choice is because they "were abused as a child" or any other form of psychological argument, then your arguement about not caring about Dworkin's sex life becomes invalid. You can not psychoanalize one set of people just because you do not like their "lifestyle" choice and choose to ignore the psychologal makeup of the person (Dworkin) whos views you have taken as your own.
It's obvious that Dworkin brings a scewed and bigoted viewpoint to the discussion of this and any issue involving gender.
In other words, you can't pick and choose ~ it's either all or none. You have to apply the same rule of thumb to everything, not just selectively what will help you justify your own position.

Will you please stop putting words in my mouth! If you will re-read my post, with comphrension this time, you can see that I was clearly not equating religion with pornography.
That is the most ridiculous statement I have read in a long time, how you can reach such far-fetched conclusions is beyond me, and I won't even respond to such drivel.
That's the second time you've insulted me, so I would ask that the moderators at least visit this thread, but I have no idea whether that will happen.
You once said that you wanted a copy of the movie Nine and one-half weeks. To me that movie is pure pornography, the female is debased and degraded and treated as nothing except a sex object. Yet you indicated that you enjoyed and were stimulated by the movie when you SAW IT!!!!
Also, you once said you were pretty good at writing smut, (yeah, I know you "try to avoid it). That implies that you had the opportunity to compare the smut you write with that produced by other writers. Since you said you were "pretty good", that would mean you probably compared yourself to some professional writers, since amateurs have no basis on which to judge one another's work, in general. Yet, you come to this thread and condemn the material which you, yourself, have said you enjoy.
Know what a double standard is?? Try explaining to your daughters how the female in that film is sanctified, revered, placed on a pedastal. How do you depict the female characters in the smut you write, are they pious, appreciated, clean as the driven snow? I doubt it, or the smut you write wouldn't be considered "pretty good".
In my opinion, you started this thread as a means of striking fear and intimidation into the hearts of those who sell and distribute materials of which you disapprove, you had no interest in "understanding" or "having questions answered". You use unscientific, often bogus studies as proof, offer "legal" descriptions that have not been designated as "legal" by any Court in this land, you totally ignore any relevant points that are made, you pick and choose a few words to respond to in various posts which take the post totally out of context, and you twist my words to make them sound as if they were "hate speech", and in doing so you are guilty of "hate speech" yourself.
I will discuss this with you till the cows come home, but I won't tolerate any more insults due to your twisting my words and putting your own interpretation on them when anyone with a semblance of intelligence understands exactly what I said.
Crystalline Silver is not the only one who is becoming infruriated. I have copied this thread, particularly the insults to me. Should any further attacks on my character occur, and that is exactly what you are doing, I will seek recourse. Said satisfication will not be sought through the moderators but rather through the civil avenues available to me.

Obviously, this thread has become quite non-productive and serves no useful or informative purpose. Other, more productive threads have been quickly locked, with that reason being given.
Now we shall see whether favoritism is shown to those who curry the moderators' favor.

You view those comments as a complaint thread - I view those posts as a request that the rules be applied fairly and equitably to everyone. Again, we differ.
Thank you for your offer of assistance, however, I've been taking care of myself for a long time and am pretty good at doing so.
