Bigpeepa you say There has been laws on the books for years to stop the influx of millions of Mexican workers.[/] Bush did nothing to enforce.

Did Bill Clinton do anything? Now all of a sudden it is Bush's fault?

Before you post why not read what you type as sometimes it makes absolutely no sense at all as in that statement above.

profe - I understand if some didn't want the drugs...we wouldn't be buying them. Makes no difference. We're not going to stop trying to keep them out of this country. But the point is Mexico and Fox are doing NOTHING to help us. So...we don't NEED them to help us less than they already are.

As far as the booklet goes....reported on MANY by news agencies. I'm sure they're ALL lying about it. [not] And it was printed and paid for by the poor Mexican government that can't/won't take care for their own people. Going to help them out...offer a few suggestions about how to survive the terrible struggle to come to American illegally. How to out-fox the border patrol.

profe - everybody knows of your dual citizenship....and your protective posts about anything related Mexico. Your love of that country blinds you and fenix, imo, to what's MOST important to our country's best interests. And this is one of them. Our National security.

I'll ask you the same questions I asked fenix, and am waiting for her reply.

Do you support open borders:

1) with Mexico

2) with Canada

3) with both countries

4) will all countries...just open all our borders...no restrictions at all?

5) ????

lol Libra - Don't you know peepa doesn't answer questions?
It's a pattern with him....he only likes to drop in and give us our 'lecture for the day'...

But you're correct in
asking just what clinton did in his 8 years to fight illegal immigration from Mexico. Did he do something to rid this country of all the illegals that were here...and I missed it? nope don't think he did.

Did HE do anything to further secure our borders during HIS 8 years, keeping the illegals from getting in?....nope...not that I heard of.

Just one of the many, many articles about this 'little comic book'.

yea...what a joke. ha ha ha

Washington Bureau
Jan. 6, 2005 12:00 AM
WASHINGTON -

Arizona Rep. J.D. Hayworth has written a letter of protest to the Mexican government urging a halt to its distribution of a new how-to comic book providing safety information for border crossers, calling it "state-sponsored illegal immigration."

"As an act of good faith, I call on your government to immediately cease the distribution of the Guide for the Mexican Migrant, which is only the latest flagrant example of the Mexican government's lack of respect for U.S. laws," Republican Hayworth wrote Tuesday to Mexican Ambassador Carlos de Icaza.

In an interview, Hayworth said his reaction to news of the guide reported Saturday in The Arizona Republic was "more astonishment than anger that a government that claims to want to be an active partner in preventing illegal immigration is an active and willing accomplice to engendering more illegal immigration."

Hayworth added that he and a group of other House Republicans, who call themselves the "Bloody Tongue Caucus" because they bit their tongues during the 2004 presidential election year rather than speak out more often on immigration concerns, no longer will mute themselves.

Alfonso Nieto, press secretary at the Mexican Embassy, said the ambassador had not seen Hayworth's letter but said, "The aim of the book is to save lives." He said that this is not the first time such information has been published by the Mexican government but noted that this is "a new presentation."

"It clearly states at the beginning and the end that the appropriate way to gain entry is with a passport or a visa," Nieto said. But he said it also recognizes that hundreds of Mexicans have died while trying to cross the border in clandestine ways.

The self-stated purpose of the of 32-page comic book published by Mexico's Foreign Ministry is to give would-be undocumented immigrants some "practical advice." But it offers no detailed information on applying for U.S. visas.

Instead, it gives tips on such things as what to wear when crossing rivers or how to avoid dehydration when crossing the desert. The information is being distributed as a free supplement to El Libro Vaquero, a popular cowboy comic book.

White House spokesman Taylor Gross on Wednesday said he had not seen a copy of the guide and would not comment on it directly. But he said that "the president has an excellent working relationship with the Mexican government" and that both governments "are committed to ensuring migration into the U.S. is safe, orderly and legal."

Even so, Hayworth's letter comes amid political bluster on both sides of the border over immigration issues.

On Dec. 22, the Mexican Foreign Ministry issued a statement criticizing Arizona's Proposition 200, saying it "encourages acts of discrimination based on an ethnic profile."
That measure, approved by Arizona voters in November, requires state and local employees to verify the immigration status of people applying for public benefits and report undocumented immigrants or face possible criminal prosecution.

Last week, lawmakers from the leftist Democratic Revolution Party, the third-largest contingent in the Mexican Congress, urged President Vicente Fox to withdraw the Mexican ambassador to Washington to protest Proposition 200. Fox ignored them.

The flare-up over the guide also comes at a time when President Bush, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and other lawmakers are trying to win congressional support for a guest-worker program that could provide large numbers of Mexicans temporary work visas, while other Republicans are pointing to the threat of terrorism as a reason to further restrict immigration.

In his letter, Hayworth warns, "Mexico's state sponsorship of illegal immigration is nothing less than an act of deliberate hostility against the United States - an attack on our sovereignty - and it must cease before it does permanent damage to our relationship."

"The Mexican government has expressed support for an accountable guest-worker program," Hayworth adds. "However, such a program is simply not possible as long as the illegal invasion of America's borders continues with the active encouragement of the Mexican government."

Linda, your heavily bolded c/p article on JD Hayworth's letter clearly states that the comic book is designed to save lives, not teach or encourage people to illegally enter the U.S. You make my point very well, thanks.

In answer to your question, No, I don't support wide open borders with either Canada or Mexico. Nor do I support sealed borders with either country. While I'm not exactly nuts about the impact of globalization, it's a fact. Our economy depends on other countries.

Personally, I think a system like the one President Bush has suggested will be the best way to keep track of who is in this country and what they're up to.

Linda - in answers to your questions, I do not support wide open borders however I do support migrant workers visas and the increase in work visas that Bush had proposed that open the borders to those that are willing to work for employers that are willing to employ them.

What I strongly object about the illegal aliens is that they come here to have their babies and those babies become American Citizens and now we are responsible for them.

That seems pretty smart to me and if they can figure that out then they are not as stupid as we think. Maybe we need to start, for a lack of a better word, segregating the Mexicans. Men can come in women can't. What do you suggest to stop this problem. It will soon be a major one, if it isn't now...

Who's the "we" ?
I have never thought one race or another is smarter than any other....it's racist to do so....is it christian ????

HILARIOUS...she thinks if only men come into this country they won't get any women pregnant ?????

But I do agree that, like Ireland, we should not allow someone, ANYONE, asylum, citizenship or anything else just because they had a baby on U.S. soil.

What did I expect from fenix and crowfarm. You fenix that is moving to mexico and crowfarm should. It is a game of now follow the leader.

Do you think it is right for us to pay for those American Children born of illegal aliens? Answer me that question and maybe you can change my mind.

We can't even take care of our own let alone another countries. This board is full of complaints about the american poor and the working poor. You crowfarm are the one besides another one that crows the most. Crowfarm it is not going to hurt me in anyway but it will hurt you in the long run. It won't hurt fenix at all as she will live in Mexico.

Anyone is smarter than you crowfarm as shown by your ignorance the way you post. The name calling etc.

Wow crowfarm you sure twisted my words around as you usually do. Evidently you can't speak for yourself as you cut and paste every poster in here.

I doubt if you crowfarm has lived or worked in a community full of illegal aliens that can't speak English and have the young child translate for them. Parents that are 30 years old and have many children. People using each others insurance to pay for their medical care because they don't have any. I have been there and seen that.

You crowfarm are the poster child for Americas working poor and poor. There will be a lot more so you might as well get used to it.

"Do you think it is right for us to pay for those American Children born of illegal aliens?"

Absolutely! Children should not be discriminated against based on their parent's immigration status. Children born in this country should be afforded every opportunity than any other child born here may enjoy.

Helen, I believe that illegal children born here should be taken care of....but neither they , nor their parents, should be automatically declared citizens.

Ireland, realizing it's size, has said that having a baby on their soil does not mean they , or their parents, are citizens. They aren't being mean, they are being practical.

Countries do not expand to accomodate immigrants and this presents huge problems.

Each year, thousands of women enter the United States illegally to give birth, knowing that their child will thus have U.S. citizenship. Their children immediately qualify for a slew of federal, state, and local benefit programs. In addition, when the children turn 21, they can sponsor the immigration of other relatives, becoming "anchor babies" for an entire clan.

http://www.fairus.org/ImmigrationIssueCenters/ImmigrationIssueCenters.cfm?ID=1190&c=13&insearch=anchor+and+babies

In 1994, Alma Meza Guitierrez traveled hundreds of miles with her three year old son through Mexico and across the U.S. border in order to reach her aunt and uncle’s small apartment in San Diego. She lives in squalid conditions in the apartment’s kitchen, she does not speak English and has little prospects for employment. Why would a 20-year-old mother of one give up her life in Mexico to endure such circumstances? Alma is pregnant and she, like thousands of other women who enter the United States illegally each year, knows that giving birth in the U.S. means her child will be an’anchor baby’ and granted U..S. citizenship. For Alma, that means her child will immediately qualify for a slew of federal, state and local benefit programs. In addition, when Alma’s child turns 21,he can sponsor the immigration of other members of the Guitierrez clan."

I'd bet she even supports/agrees with old V. Fox when he scoulded AZ for passing laws he didn't like. Someone needs to remind HIM which country he's President OF. It's NOT this one..

If we don't have enough money to help the poor where will we find money to help those children.. Everyone wants a better life but not take away from the children of the country.
