Peepa, I dont need to twist your words. You say the same thing here everyday - about failed republican leaders. Well, I got news for you from my well educated hyde -- power corrupts and they are all corrupt, or on that road to be corrupted. That was the point of my post. Some failed and corrupted DEMOCRAT LEADERS. Not just republican leaders. Get a grip on reality one day.

Thank you fenix for sharing your differing views/takes with me.
Personally I think the left is just acting in a typical *political* manner...they're in the minority and they're going after two of the strongest Republicans leaders - with all their might. But they're going to have to PROVE these allegations...not just state them as a matter-of-fact.
I expect all this to continue through the 2006 elections. As the dems lost what 2 seats in 2002, and 7-8 more in 2005? [Think I'm close there.] They don't want to lose anymore this time so they're going to be trying to make EVERY republican look as bad as they can. It's the way the 'game' has always been played. I doubt we're going to see it change anytime in the near future.
On clinton's popularity, it's sure is something I'll ever understand....clinton supporters still think he's so wonderful after lying to the US voters....but those same people think DeLay should be hung from the rafters because he did what many dems do too - when it hasn't even been proven he did so.

:n clinton's popularity, it's sure is something I'll ever understand....clinton supporters still think he's so wonderful after lying to the US voters....::
Maybe it's because we are liberal but the fact that he lied about a sexual experience paled in comparison to the laughability of the brooha (sp?) that was made over..a sexual experience. He didn't kill anyone, trade arms for drugs, attempt to circumvent the constitution or have the CIA secretly fund an over throw of a foreign government. He partook of sexual favors from a political groupie. The whole thing just seemed so silly and honestl;y... petty.
::Those same people think DeLay should be hung from the rafters because he did what many dems do too - when it hasn't even been proven he did so.::
DeLay is being charged with actual criminal offenses which in and of itself would not have been such a big deal had he not acted so guilty or been so self-righteous. Like I said, if he had just temporarily stepped down as leader (he could still manuever in the background) and leave the ethics committee alone he would have almost instantly difused the attacks against him.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
I caught it the first time...[you thinking DeLay should step down/aside]. ALL dems would love that, as I've already mention is exactly WHY they're going after him so hard. Trying to force public opinion. And he won't be taken down...just makes everyone madder. Well, I can identify with his feelings...in that YOU PROVE something first...then I'll step down. He says he's innocent. And aren't we supposedly a country who support 'innocent UNTIL prove guilty'? Sure we are...that just doesn't jive with the agenda on the left.
On clinton...I've said a million times it wasn't about his little playmate. But rather that a man in the HIGHEST position of our land, our Commander-In-Chief would OBSTRUCT the Constitutional rights of one of his 'victims'. AND that he would lie under oath about it.
And that there were SEVERAL woman claiming he acted inappropriately sexually with them - one claimed he raped her years ago. You [collectively] on the left choose to ignore those as 'small shortcomings/infractions/no big deal'...we on the right see them as enormous character flaws and unworthy of the position as our leader. There are many reasons those on the 'right' didn't like him....you wish to believe it was ONLY because of his sexual problem. Most I've heard make comments about him have to do with all the coruption that went on in his administration. But when you used the Nixon issue....it did make wonder how you could excuse clinton but you couldn't Nixon. Guess that's one part of why we're on opposite sides of the aisle.

You are not getting the pyschology of this game Linda. If DeLay had simply said "in the best interest of the party, I am going to step down as leader until the investigations are completed". It would have accomplished NOTHING for the Dems. He would have shown humility and class and thusly retained all of his behind the scenes power and if cleared, looked all that much stronger. By fighteing all of this, by changing congressional proceedure and attempting to the power balance of the ethics committee he desperately weakened himself. I would say the exact same thing if this was a Demnocrat, or a Moderate.
He has played this one all wrong.
::And that there were SEVERAL woman claiming he acted inappropriately sexually with them - one claimed he raped her years ago.::
Aren't you the one that just said "innocent til proven guilty. He was never even charged, besides, who are you talking about?
::But when you used the Nixon issue....it did make wonder how you could excuse clinton but you couldn't Nixon.::
Clinton - screwed around
Nixon - spread false rumors about political foes in order to paint them as racist, anti semetic, etc, paid individuals to infiltrate democratic demonstrations in order to create violent protests to set public sentiment against the party, bugged the phones of reporters and psychologists.... shall I go on? (Part of my three days on the beach was spent rereading "All the Presidents Men", I can go on if you wish )
I'm not quite sure we are talking
about comparible crimes.

dblfugger9, unlike you I have been saying all along strip all the crooks of power and throw them in jail no matter what party the crook belongs to.
About me pointing out failed republican leaders why not. The republicans now have all the power and are now the leaders that are failing America on most issues.

""I caught it the first time...[you thinking """Clinton""(my insertion)""" should step down/aside]. ALL Repugs would love that, as I've already mention is exactly WHY they're going after him so hard. Trying to force public opinion. And he won't be taken down...just makes everyone madder. Well, I can identify with his feelings...in that YOU PROVE something first...then I'll step down. The problem is the neocons have a sick hang up where sex is comncerned...to them it's naughty and bad and vile and SO much worse than LYING AND SENDING THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS TO DIE FOR A LIE!
Besides the Clinton thing being OLD NEWS , at the TIME it was another smokescreen to take away from IMPORTANT issues.
Making a scandal out of a president(any president) having elicit sex would've taken up so much time out of the last two centuries that it's a good thing it was ignored(as it should have been) .
So what if Clinton lied...I don't care, I would tell anybody who butted into my private life to take a flying f---.
Now, maybe we could move on to recent events that truly affect us now...or should we discuss Reagan's act of treason by selling arms to our enemies. I don't want to ..it's over and done and we have more to deal with now.
Or
Maybe we could discuss Washington's and Jefferson's and all our founding fathers' many children ???????
