Tom,
you must know that as soon as someone posts something the shows what a PHONY LIAR BUSH is the "L" sisters just start calling names. Their attempts to change the issue into a name calling match because they can no longer defend their failed leaders is SHAMELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The American people will show the RADICAL RIGHT where to stuff their views in 2006.

Tom's post mentions our young people in regard to SS.
Bush's Social Security reform plan (all Americans)
-
52% support reform
40% oppose reform
---
Under 30-
66% support reform
23% oppose reform
Contrast Rock the Vote's anti-reform agenda with the refreshing voice of Students for Saving Social Security. It's night and day, and, once again, Rock the Vote demonstrates how it has become an arm of the far-left-wing of the increasingly out-of-the-mainstream Democratic Party, while eschewing its ostensible purpose, giving voice to the political concerns of young people.
Between 30 and 50-
58% support reform
37% oppose reform
Over 65 (who, remember, wouldn't be affected at all by the President's reforms)-
40% support reform
52% oppose reform
Over 70-
38% support reform
55% oppose reform
Still more positive polling on SS.

Double, I'm beginning to think you attended the Captain James T. Kirk School of Shakespearian Acting with the added drama you provide. I've asked you repeatedly what exactly bothers you about my views on cancer and other illnesses but you chose to play airhead again.

kraft, youre so willing to stick a poke in and show umbrage at a silly typo comment to bigbeepa, your loyal bone gets royally bent out of shape enough to lie for Cheryl...but you cannot afford to "coddle" somebody with cancer?
I have to wonder whats wrong with you. I'm sorry, kraft, most days youre a hoot on these boards - but after that cancer thread and your implicit ideas about who and what deserves coddling or support, I dont think you've got your principals too right. But I can understand why you would prefer I see it the way you do.

Double, I'll explain it again as best as I can...
Health issues seem to be the one thing that we all pay the most for and are the most irresponsible regarding. There are too many people in North America with diseases, including cancer, that if they had have been more responsible with taking care of their own bodies, they would have less of a chance to get a disease. We all just accept disease as part of our lives and depend on drug companies to give us all magic pills to make us better instead of living healthier and preventing disease. I know that some diseases just happen. I know that cancer can strike babies and healthy people without warning. I'm not talking about those people. I'm talking about people that encourage their own diseases by doing everything in excess, day after day. I have compassion for them but it's hard for me to sympathize with this group of people.
Linda, I think Double's hilarious. I just like to knuckle her back once in a while.

kraft, has cancer ever touched your life? An extension by way of somebody you knew, maybe even?
These people are in pain! And the mental agony cancer brings to them and their family is beyond any stupid health care issue when its affecting you.
As far as the bring-it-on-yourself type stuff: NOBODY has any guarantee. Athletes and their families get cancer, kraft. Look at that bicyclist Lance = something? Who could you look to be in better physical shape? (Maybe except for the fact his balz hitten a hard seat all the time....I dont know.)
Yes, there are things people will do, and live a lifestyle, that will, make them sick. Were not all gonna be Jack LaLane's, kraft. (and if we were, you'd have a whole nuther issue of how were going put n pay for all these jumpin jelly beans hanging around till they're 113!) Still, it doesnt mean people get written off because they're not. At least in my book. I perceive you feel differently and you have your reasons, so thats okay. Just hope you dont have a heullva karma-kazi fall on your head with that attitude though.

Yes, and he PROMISED he would how many months ago? Promises made, promises broken.
The WSJ is keeping a daily log of how long it's been since he promised to fill out the form, and since he said he already did fill it out. Now they're trying to tease him into actually SUBMITTING it.
Maybe he'll release them right before he runs again in '08...so we can rehash all this again.

I am sorry KD I have to disagree with your statement because there are many cancers that are inherited. There are many cancers in adults because of their childhood and there are many cancers, leukemia being one a disease that children have when they are born. Now I do have to admit the smoking one.
BTW I also addressed the topic.
I think that a topic is addressed usually in the first few posts, but then the name calling starts and that is what turns everything into chaos.
Now to you Cheryl about how many trips Bush has made to Iraq.
04 June, 2003 bush
Nov. 28, 2003 bush Thanksgiving day
December 23, 2004 rumsfield
April 12, 2005 rumsfield
I have no idea why you asked but Bush is not the Defense Secretary. The Military is the responsibility of Rumsfield who is the Defense Secretary who reports to Pres Bush.
NTS (Shelly) you have a great first name. It is a soft sounding name that doesn't like conflict as I can tell by your posts.

I probably should have been more clear with the Bush in Iraq thing. How many times has Bush been to Iraq to address the Iraqi people? That better? Blair took the time to address them. Bush has not. Going over there for a millisecond to deliver a plastic turkey doesn't count.

So when I prove you wrong you change the question. Come on Cheryl you ask the question 1 time, fine maybe a mistake but 2 times the same question, not on your life.
BTW where in Iraq can Blair or Bush go to address the people of Iraq?

LOL @ 'being more clear.'
Like having the facts before you make incorrect comments ? that would be nice for a change.
cheryl doesn't fool me...this President could never do ANYTHING that she'd EVER like ...there's just no pleasing bush-haters.
And she's wrong once again.
Going over there for a millisecond to deliver a plastic turkey doesn't count.
This is a President who put his own life in extreme danger to show his support for our troops. The ONLY one's that matter....not the anti=war left.
President's visit...
His visit marked the first time a U.S. president had traveled to Iraq, and concern for Bush's safety kept the trip cloaked in secrecy. Even some members of the Secret Service were kept in the dark about it.
The whirlwind trip [came amid persistent insurgent attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq -- and less than a week after a cargo plane was struck by a missile and forced to land at the Baghdad airport.
Air Force One, with its lights turned off for security reasons, touched down at Baghdad International Airport at 5:31 p.m. (9:31 a.m. EST) and taxied to a remote corner of the airport.
Bush then went to a hangar where about 600 members of the 1st Armored Division and the 82nd Airborne Division had gathered.
The U.S. forces had been told that L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, and Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, commander of coalition forces, would be attending the dinner.
As Bremer prepared to read a presidential proclamation to the troops, he said, "Let's see if we've got anybody more senior here who can read the president's Thanksgiving speech. Is there anybody back there who's more senior than I?"
Bush then emerged, misty-eyed and wearing a U.S. Army exercise jacket, to a roaring ovation.
The shocked and elated soldiers jumped to their feet, pumped their fists in the air, roared with delight, and grabbed their cameras to snap photographs.
"I was just looking for a warm meal somewhere," Bush joked, and added: "I can't think of a finer group of folks to have dinner with."
Then the commander-in-chief got serious. "You are defending the American people from danger and we are grateful. You are defeating the terrorists here in Iraq." The insurgents in the country are "testing our will. They hope we will run," he said. But, he said, "we did not charge hundreds of miles into the heart of Iraq, pay a bitter cost of casualties, defeat a ruthless dictator and liberate 25 million people only to retreat before a band of thugs and assassins."
That line prompted a standing ovation.
"We will prevail. We will stay until the job is done," he said.
Afterward, Bush mingled with soldiers and temporarily joined the servers on the food line to dish out sweet potatoes and corn.
"It gave us a little extra oomph," Spc. Talitha Williams, an Arkansas native assigned to the 1st Armored Division. "Maybe we can get through this."
"It felt good," said Spc. Juan Deloera, also with the 1st Armored Division. "It really boosted my morale."
"It helps a lot knowing that the commander in chief himself is going to come out here and make some of the same sacrifices away from his family, away from his home, to show that he is devoted and in the same position that we are," said Pvt. Patrick McFarland of the 1st Armored Division.
"That's where your mind is, on home this time of the year, and you think about your loved ones, your friends and things like that, and then you have the leader of our country come here and share dinner with us. It's actually very special," said Sgt. Robert Dunn, a Dallas native with the 1st Armored Division.
The president also went behind closed doors for two separate meetings with U.S. commanders and four members of the Iraq Governing Council. After being on the ground 2.5 hours, the president left Baghdad around 8 p.m. (noon EST).

MR. BUSH AND MR. BLAIR ADDRESS IRAQI PUBLIC
The U.S. president and the British prime minister launched a media campaign in Iraq on Thursday with an address televised across the war-torn nation during which Mr. Bush assured Iraqis that "the government of Iraq and the future of your country will soon belong to you."
The messages from Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair were beamed into Iraq via a new Arabic TV network, produced by the U.S. and UK governments, called Nahwa Al-Hurrieh or "Towards Freedom."
The leaders' messages launched the network, which will be broadcast from a U.S. Air Force plane flying over the country. Programming will come from the U.S. and British military as well as rebroadcasts from independent news outlets in both countries, White House officials said.
Starting Saturday, the coalition also will publish a newspaper in southern Iraq, with an initial circulation of 10,000, according to the White House.
The leaders' statements were a bid to reassure ordinary Iraqis of Anglo-American intentions and hasten the full collapse of Saddam's power structure.
"Saddam Hussein's regime is collapsing and the years of brutality, oppression and fear are coming to an end," Mr. Blair said. "We did not want this war but in refusing to give up his weapons of mass destruction, Saddam gave us no choice but to act. Now that the war has begun, it will be seen through to the end."
"You deserve better than tyranny and corruption and torture chambers ... Your nation will soon be free," President Bush said.
"The nightmare that Saddam Hussein has brought to your nation will soon be over," he added.
The two men recorded their messages two days ago at a summit in Northern Ireland.
Aware of suspicions throughout the Arab world of American and British "imperialist" intentions, the two leaders promised troops would leave Iraq as soon as a new government was set up to replace an interim authority due to take over from the military.
President Bush assured Iraqis that the goals of the coalition forces "are clear and limited."
"Coalition forces will help maintain law and order so that Iraqis can live in security. We will respect your great religious traditions, whose principles of equality and compassion are essential to Iraqi's future. We will help you build a peaceful and representative government that protects the rights of all citizens. And then our military forces will leave," Mr. Bush told the Iraqis.
"Iraq will not be run by Britain or by the United States, or by the United Nations. It will be run by you," Mr. Blair said.
The British leader acknowledged many Iraqis feared a repeat of the aftermath of the 1991 Gulf War when Washington urged Saddam's opponents to rise up but did not back them with troops.
"You thought Saddam's rule was being ended, but he stayed, and you suffered. That will not happen this time. This regime will be gone and ended," Mr. Blair said.
********
I think this is the closest that both Blair and Bush have gotten to the Iraqi People.
