Shortly after I moved to LA I started working for a small printer doing their graphics and typesetting. the first couple days I thought that I was simply working on a single large account of material then actually took a look at the material on the three wall to wall floor to ceiling bookshelves I was surrounded by. Every bit of it was Scientology related. Books and binders filled with "improvement" series from the CoS. Turns out that every client this company had was scientology related. Within a week the boss handed me a couple binders of tapes for "training". I think I listened to all of about 15 minutes of one before I went searching for non indoctrinated human contact. After two weeks the boss asked what I thought, I told him I didn't think it really had much to do with my job but thanks for the thought. He handed me a different binder. On the following Monday he again asked what I thought, told him again I didn't really see what it had to do with my job. On Tuesday he handed me two weeks severence pay.
Personally I think that people seek out what works for them and so I have no beef with Scientology on it's face but as with any other belief system, I have problems with one that itself above all else.
