Helen doesn't scurry around collecting posts. Instead she files ALL posts by everyone in seperate files. I'm sure she has even started a file on you, Red.

Yes, LOL....she's our own board FBI wanna-be agent. She's got files on every post she's every made under either userid she's used here, per her own admisstion....that's not counting the threads she's saved on the statements of other posters. LOL

I think that's a little DRASTIC, paranoid and pathetic for a chat board user to get that anal....buy hey ....to each his own.

For being new posters, Piinthesky and RedStateRising sure have a handle on everything. How many years have you guys been lurking?

I may be missing something but I thought pi was a former poster - one who I was accused of being.

As for me, I lurked for a few months before registering but Helen provided a link in my new kid on the block thread which has every thread for the last five years or so. I certainly haven't gone back through every one of those threads but I've read enough to get a feel for a few things. Helen's files, if thats what they are, have been discussed many times in many threads.

:: Oh yes, LOL because YOU didn't have the courtesy to start a thread of your own on a subject YOU wanted to discuss. Your show of rudeness, not mine fenix. You lowered yourself to a new low.::

Just to make things as clear as possible. The fact that you do not approve of my actions at this point in time is nothing less than a compliment. This week you have continually displayed the most cold hearted dispassionate individual I have come across in quite a long time and to be approved of by someone so lacking in simple compassionate is absolutely not something I would aspire to.

:n the people in that nursing home, how would you have handled their deaths via drowning? I'm sure you would have been to each and every nursing home, AS the flood waters were rising....yep ask for the impossible and when it can't happen....#*!@ away.::

LInda - YOU are the one that is saying that those who are stuck in this much or have died in the meantime are responsible for their own fates. I was simply pointing out what a completely unrealistic cold hearted sentiment that was when applied to some of the reality of what was going on.

LOL fenix - Yes, I'm just so cold hearted in believing that all those hundreds of thousands who COULD HAVE left when asked to leave, COULD HAVE left when ORDERED to leave......but who didn't, who chose NOT TO LEAVE and bury their heads in the sand...'it's not going to matter to me'...until it did. But you liberals only those want to focus on those that need[ed] more help.

Just think if those healthy ones had had enough sense to get to safety WHEN THEY WERE TOLD TO DO SO, the emergency responders would have only had the more needy/unhealthy people to take care of.....not the masses of people who don't choose to use their brains even for their own survival.

Yep.....not ONE leftie here holds anyone who chose NOT TO LEAVE responsible for their OWN actions/decisions. It's all someone elses fault......no reason to admit they each played a part in their situation. Period.

Hey mingotree, you said about Linda_K. "See Bigpeepa, she doesn't have any defense left for the God she worships:"

I believe people like Linda_K worship several false Gods. With her its one God when she is talking about money, another God when talking about her politicos, and yet another God when she is talking about needy Americans and still another God when she talks about her form of religion.

A example for this woman's confusion is how strongly she talked about one of her Gods in regards to the Terry Schiavo case that was about the right to life issue. Now when thousands of her fellow Americans die and are still dying she says its their own fault.

THIS WOMAN HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE BELIEVES OR DOESN'T BELIEVE.

No Linda - as usual, you don't get it. As usual you are incapable any shade of grey. And as usual you trivialize everything with your "you liberals" mantra.

Yes there are people that chose not to leave because history had taught them that these situations were alsways overhyped but in the same way that all of these problems are not the fault of a political administration, it is also not all the fault of those that were unable or unwilling to leave. This siuation sits firmly in the middle of those shades of grey that you are so frequently incapable or unwilling to see.

Hi All,
I thought I'd update you on my own situation in Mississippi. My hubby was finally able to make it back home and miracles of miracles our house is still standing! The two homes on the left of us are destroyed and the one across the street also.. Ours sustained minimal damage... lost the front porch and steps, back deck is damaged, well some damage, some siding off and the two utility sheds out back demolished... many huge pine trees down all over the property, hedges down etc...lots of debris from everywhere.. but we are feeling blessed that our house is standing among the rubble. The streets are still one lane ruts obstacle course around fallen trees and limbs.. but he was able to make it in and today a utility truck was working on clearing the trees from the road in...
No water, power, gas, food, phones etc.. and it may be months before power is restored. He said the entire place looks like a war zone.. total destruction everywhere you look.. the local Walmart lot is being used as a water and food distribution center and there are cars stranded along the roads and hwys as far as you can see...we can assume they have run out of gas.
My husband is in Lafayette La.. and will stay there at his company's base and work off shore on the rigs until we get at least power restored to our area...for those of you who wonder where we live in Ms .. we are the next town north of Slidell La.. and you have heard I'm sure of the devastation there as well..

I'm still in NC with my daughter and family.. I finally heard today that my dog is safe with her care taker... and will be fine as long as we can get food and water supplies to them...

Sorry I haven't had time to read the threads on the RT... so busy here with baby Luke Daniel and Emma (the grand-kids) will keep you posted as I learn more.. Maggie

But seriously - so glad to hear that all is well with you and the family and that your home is still standing.

Hi Maggie!

More stupidity:

""Just think if those healthy ones had had enough sense to get to safety WHEN THEY WERE TOLD TO DO SO, the emergency responders would have only had the more needy/unhealthy people to take care of.....not the masses of people who don't choose to use their brains even for their own survival.""

Yup, that would be YOU, LindaKKK, leaving the needy/elderly/incapacitated behind with no one to help them as you saved your own worthless hide.
Yes, there were plenty, and not just in New Orleans, who should've left but they didn't and MANY stayed behind to care for those needy/elderly/incapacitated who COULD NOT LEAVE!
You NEVER would have! And YOU would've never survived what those people went through.
YOU never would've stayed behind and worked round the clock in the remaining hospitals saving lives, easing misery.

And I don't need tea leaves to tell me that...you've been posting long enough for me to know this to be true.
Don't want people to know what you're really like?
Then don't post......your posts are a dead give away.

Unbelievable stupidity from the King of Stupid Quotes:

Bush to women: "There's a Salvation Army center that I want to, that I'll tell you where it is, and they'll get you some help. I'm sorry.... They'll help you.....

Woman 1: "I came here looking for clothes..."

Bush: "They'll get you some clothes, at the Salvation Army center..."

Woman 1: "We don't have anything..."

Bush: "I understand.... Do you know where the center is, that I'm talking to you about?"

Guy with shades: "There's no center there, sir, it's a truck."

Bush: "There's trucks?"

Guy: "There's a school, a school about two miles away....."

Bush: "But isn't there a Salvation center down there?"

Guy: "No that's wiped out...."

Bush: "A temporary center? "

Guy: "No sir they've got a truck there, for food."

Bush: "That's what I'm saying, for food and water."

Bush turns to the sister who's been saying how she needs clothes.

Bush to sister: "You need food and water."

This SOB is sooo far removed from real life I'm surprised he needs oxygen to breath.

The effing Salvation Army building is no longer there, stupid, there was a hurricane.........

Thank you everyone for your best wishes, and Peepa...I'm all ready calling the little guy "jumpin Jack Flash" born in a crossfire hurricane LOL.. and he came a week early so Grandma would get out of the way of the hurricane!

I have read a few of the posts here and as I think Fenix wrote.. there is no Black and White in this situation only a whole lot of gray. Yes, it's been a known fact that NO was a soup bowl waiting for the big one to fill it up...but the people trusted their government to take care of the situation..

As for those who couldn't leave or chose not to leave, you would have to live down here to understand all of the many complexities that influence people to make the decision not to leave...it's not as simple as being just a choice..it is a much much more than that..

And as for those who say, why do people choose to live in these areas...what can I say except in our case, our livelihood is made in the Gulf so we must live here.. Even living 40-45 miles inland our area is completely devastated.. someone must work the oil fields that's why we live where we do..

Lastly, before I go to bed...this in my opinion isn't the time to debate whether people made wrong choices.. but a time when hundreds of thousands of your fellow Americans are in desperate need, I for one don't care to be referred to as a refugee, we are American citizens, who are in need of your help...a time for our country to pull together and do what is necessary.

Thanks again for your support.. Maggie

Glad to hear you have a home to go back to and everything else seems to be going fine.
In this situation we should pull together and work, but sadly there are those who would rather point fingers and place blame to allow that to happen.

Pointing fingers and blaming those caught in the area of destruction is absurd.

While assisting everyone now, it's reality that certain issues about the response time are addressed immediately because the height of hurricane season isn't even here yet.

Preparations nationwide should be made for more evacuees if necessary. There could be an earthquake or a terrorist attack so it's only common sense to try to be prepared as much as possible and open all channels to speed up help that is being offered from within the country and worldwide.

Bush resembles a child who has not emerged into social awareness. Since he hasn't internalized a sense of right and wrong, he desperately needs outside criticism as direction. Without such criticism, he would still be playing his guitar and attending birthday parties while blaming the local officials for mishandling the largest disaster to hit the United States.

I am mostly a lurker, but once in a while I am compelled to post. Just a few points:

l. The infrastructure of our cities and the safety thereof are the government's responsibility. Without reasonable attention to the problems in NO's levee system, these citizens didn't have a chance.

2. Civil defense, evacuation plans, and the safety of citizens following disasters (natural and otherwise) are the government's responsibility.

3. There are so many reasons why so many people did not evacuate before Katrina---ranging from age and infirmity, lack of even minimal resources, responsibility for care of those family members who are helpless and, yes, even foolishness. None of these are reasons to allow people to die or suffer the horrific conditions they had to endure for nearly a week. That is absolute cruelty. If foolishness were punishable by death, many of us would be in grave danger!

4. I find it disturbing that it has been suggested we should not depend on the government in times of a multistate disaster involving millions of people, but the same people of that opinion dragged the government into a private issue concerning one woman's right to die.

The government's performance in this disaster was totally unacceptable and inhumane. We need to determine responsibiity for this failure so that this country will never have to experience the likes of this horror again. Those scenes in New Orleans, which we have seen over and over on the news, should be burned in our brains.

Many had no cars, no money and some were elderly or ill. How could they just go? Where would they have gone to even if they were healthy enough to walk? Where would they have found food or shelter or a bathroom? How far could they walk carrying their babies and little children plus any necessities?

Louisiana disaster plan, pg 13, para 5 , dated 01/00

'The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating'...

If anyone is to blame for those who didn't get evacuated prior to Katarina's landfall, it is the Mayor of NO & his staff for NOT following their own evacuation plan.

I gave my liberal neighbors son a book for his birthday. He went crazy trying to find where to put the batteries. [ edited by Bear1949 on Sep 4, 2005 09:44 AM ]
