Fenix, I agree with you that she is a nutjob but if you say that then you must agree that Michael Moore is a nutjob also. He has gotten support for his political views, not only from people on this board but from others around the country.
The point i am trying to make is that it seems like the Dems will accept help from anyone even if what they are saying is wacked out, crazy sh!t as long as it fans the flames.
I don't agree with your take on Bears posting style that there's an underlying theme of - if you can't say something snide, don't say anything at all. Bear posts like he's making a hit and run and he's good at it. His threads are thought provoking and interesting.

Pi - I like Moore, but that does not mean that I always agree with him. I think that he is effective at gathering raw information but I don't always agree with the way he processes it and some of the conclusions he comes to.
In this case - I think a lot of anti-war groups jumped on the boat with Sheehan because they agreed with her premise...unfortunately I think that most did not realize until they were in theboat just how lousy the new captains sense of direction was.
As for Bear... if you can find a topic that he introduced based soley on it's merits and without a snide title, intro, or conclusion, I might agree but I sure as hell can't think of one lately.

Fenix, i'm curious, did you see Moores movie Farenheit 911 and if you did how did you view it?? Did you view it as a factual documentary or as ficticious entertainment??

I did see it and although I though it was interesting, I don't think it was really a documentary not was it just entertainment. I though it was more of a cinematic editorial.
I think Moore went in with preconcieved notions, and sought information that supported them. I think that there were valid and interesting points made thruout but that basic points of logic were ignored in his concluions which put the work as a whole in question.

I thought that the whole movie was ficticious entertainment and the only part that i really liked was at the start when Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Blair were made up to look like the Cartrights from Bonanza. I cracked up when I saw that and seeing Cheney wearing Hoss' hat was the best.
If Moore wasn't so politcally motivated i believe he could make some interesting films but it's too late for that now.

But anyways Fenix, i find it strange that so many people give credence to people like Sheehan and Moore even though they are both nutjobs. As far as some from this board, it may just be a few that support them but they are representative of alot of radical left wing Americans. What they don't realise is that people like Sheehan and Moore actually hurt their cause more than they help it. Not that it bothers me though.

I know - you are about as bothered by Sheehan as I am by Robertson
Asfar as credence...Personally I think the number of media members desperate for a story during a slow news period far out numbered the number of people that truly gave the woman any credence.

Cindy's "tour" made the town a few miles from me. The paper said "25 news media" showed up and "a couple of supporters". THIS IS NJ!!!!

Can't wait to see how many don't show up for this big DC rally that is going on next weekend. Might me worth taking the Metro in to DC to see how few show up for this anti-Bush/anti-war rally.

I was reading over this post and I realised that almost everyone had the same viewpoint on good ole Cindy.
Everyone thinks she's nuts.
Everyone except bigpeepa.
That really tells me something. Now I can understand how cults get their followers.
