There is a federally mandated minimum wage of $5.15 but a number of states have passed laws increasing it order to increase income levels (not to mention state income tax levels) within their state. Here are some other states that have readjusted for cost of living.

CONNECTICUT $7.10
DELAWARE $6.15
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA $6.60

FLORIDA $6.15
HAWAII $6.25
ILLINOIS $6.50
MAINE $6.35
MASSACHUSETTS $6.75
MINNESOTA $6.15 or $5.25 (depends on income of employer)
NEW YORK $6.00
01/01/2006 $6.75
OREGON $7.25 (with annual adjustment for inflation)
PENNSYLVANIA $5.15 (Doubletime on Sundays - I didn't know Blue Laws still existed)
RHODE ISLAND $6.75
VERMONT $7.00
WASHINGTON $7.35
WISCONSIN $5.70

I think the key word here is "minimum" wage. The minimum that can be paid could be adjusted upward, but not downward. That is why there is a federal minimum wage law.
