profe, it was meant to be a joke. But we all know there's a tinge of truth to it. btw, if you dont mind me saying so, I think you want to 'be right' as much as Linda does. ...Part of the merry-go-round on this board, as you've said.

From the OPs
The appeals court said Congress first authorized the phrase "In God We Trust" on coins in 1865, and Congress made it the national motto in 1956. It is inscribed above the speaker's chair in the U.S. House of Representatives and above the main door of the U.S. Senate chamber.
No matter how long, or how many coins it is on, they did put it on some coins, and they do have it in the national motto, and in the pledge (I know that that was started in the 50's) thing is, were there people taking it to court in the 60's ? in the 70's? did people have any issues back then with it? I doubt it.

Hey Linda. Yep I am back. Even did some ebay!
But, don't you think in the 60's on, till say the 90's (maybe) that the majority of people didn't think twice about the words 'In God We Trust' ?
This guy that is taking it to court (the 9th circuit is a joke anyway! ) is the same guy that wanted to take God out of the Pledge, but they turned him down because he doesn't have custody of his daughter? This guy has too much time on his hands!

Yes, I agree. Been on a lot of things...but it's bothering the atheists, ACLU and anti-religion people more and more.
Imo, IF they argue that since abortions have been allowed since the '70's and according to them, precident has been set....then so has precident on our coins, our National Motto, our court houses etc.
