"I got a big artificial tree with the 800 lights 2 years ago. I love real Christmas trees, but they are a fire hazard... "

Isn't that an oxymoron or something, Near?

Ok, its not that big

It is a 8 ft Kodiak Fir (artificial)

500 clear lights. 300 frosted lights. (800 total)

Flame Retardant

I do think they are safer, because people put real trees up early, and let them dry out, thus becoming a fire hazard

But I still love the real ones, the smell, the dead needles that fall off, I do not miss at all

Near

The 25th of December was picked in order to take attention away from a pagan holiday celebrated at that same time. It was a week long celebration that ended on 12/25. The same goes for Easter. It was a way for the Christians (a new religion at the time) to spread Christianity.

December 25 was a good day to pick, IMO. There's nothing like Christmas with new fallen snow on the ground! Driving around looking at the lights after a fresh snowfall is amazing! Then, you come home to a nice cup of hot chocolate and you're good to go!
