That's a shame. I think this is the one guy on death row that is of more use alive than dead.
I don't believe thaa reasoned decesion on Arnold part... probably just afraid of losing what few supporters he still has.

"Yep and now he can show how a gang member will end up after commiting murder."
And Schwarzenegger can show how a governor will end up after denying clemency...in the good graces of the GOP.
And that's what it's all about, a decision that is not right but one that is politically expedient for Schwarzenegger.

Since the California Supreme court denied a stay, why should Arnie grant clemency?

He has seen the Lord and will never return to his evil ways.
All the more reason for him to go to God a little early.

Bear - because the California Supreme Court is only able to base their judgement on a limited number of facts. They cannot commute a sentence. They chose to deny an appeal based on a lack of new compelling evidence regarding the actual crime he was sentenced for. Clemency/Cummutation however can be granted on a much larger spectrum of reasons. I think in this case, his sentence should have been commuted based on the work that he has done and could still in the community to eliminate gang participation among youths.
It's a matter of priorities... and in this case, I think that retribution should have taken a back seat when you consider that this is someone that can save countless lives in an area has a great deal of legitiamcy and credence where only a very few others have any.

So the 4 people he murdred, has yet to show any remorse for, are to be just passed over as foot notes in a legal battle?
He didn't help himself by not admitting his crimes, asking for mercy from the victims family or aplogize for starting the gang in the first place.
Lots of other things he could of done, but didn't.
Now he get what his punishment says he deserves.

The man is a murderer, plain and simple. He admitted to the crimes and even spoke of plans to blow away the witnesses as well...
He is also responsible for co-founding the Crips, one of the most violent gangs in the country and so is, through that organization's activities, responsible for countless other murders.
I don't care how many children's book he has written or might write in the future, or how much religion he got while in prison. He is not a hero. He is not "misunderstood." He certainly is not innocent.
Tookie Williams deserves the death penalty and I have no sympathy for him.
edited to put the word "away" where it would do the most good.

yes, peepa, it's easy to understand you can't grasp the difference between killing little innocent babies who could survive if not for their own mothers.....vs.....murderers/rapists/thieves/etc....those who HAVE done wrong against society....
but nope...you see no difference between the two. Typical of your lack of reasoning abilities.

Well, classic, we just heard Squirrel attempt to establish a link between murderers and thievery after Linda linked murderers/rapists/thieves... With leaps like this is it unusual to think that the next leap will include speeders? Who knows? Next they may vote to rev up the execution priority to include them all.
murderers/rapists/thieves/speeders.
Brace yourself for the next thought.

The phony right to lifers like LIAR-LINDA_K condone killings as long as it fits their personal agenda.
History has shown that using LIAR-LINDA_K's word "innocent". Innocent people have been killed using the flawed death penalty system. Only God can be 100% sure if this man was guilty or not. People like LIAR-LINDA_K trying to play God just aren't qualified.
History has shown the death penalty system is flawed. In the last few years lots of "innocent" people have been taken off the condemned to death list. Why, because they were "innocent" of the "crimes against society" they were convicted of.
To me its only the narrow minded,non-thinking,self-serving people that can support such a flawed death penalty system.

It's just the liberal way of thinking being applied here, I do believe.
-------
LOL dlb...boy that's the truth. Can't believe how many women put on their whole face while driving to work. As bad, if not worse, than trying to make a call while speeding.
-----------
And I see there are no lefties here to understand the concept that when thieves/robbers break and enter that they EVER murder anyone. Nope...that never happens. Not by those upstanding citizens who they cry for all the time.
