Thank-you, Linda.
Who said prayers have to go to God?
"A person just doesn't make up a God and say they believe in him/her. It has to come from somewhere....not just out of the sky."
Says who?

Double, I see Linda keeps going on about my religion and beliefs. This thread is for Charles, my father in law, not a discussion on religion, which Linda has brought up 3 times. With that in mind, who do you think is really trolling?

I'm not trolling.
As I've already stated I find it extremely ODD to say the least that YOU of all people ask for prayers for your FIL, rather than good thoughts going his way...or anything along that line.
But with your recent crazy answers....I do believe most here will know what I was talking about. You're playing games again....on the God issue...prayer issue....NOT about your FIL and his illness.
Talk about an airhead....you've been smoking way too much pot KD to make those statements.

Linda, take your ignorance and bigotry somewhere else! This is a thread about KD's family member who is seriously ill. Who the hell are you to talk about what most here believe. Most people here are decent, sympathetic and caring people. That would exclude you.

helen, when you purchase vendio THEN and only THEN will you have the right or the power to tell me what I can and can't say here.
Remember all the times YOU'VE said no one tells YOU what you'll say or where?
No, it's your double standard showing it's ugly head once again.

No, I'm not out of line, helen....you are for scoulding me and thinking it's going to work.
This thread is called PRAYER. Who were the prayers to be for? KD's FIL. Just who do most people pray to? God....or a figument of their imagination?
I bet most would think they direct their prayers to their God.
But being an atheist that you are....I can understand how that concept might elude your reasoning abilities.

well, kraft, why do you ask on the site, to a bunch of people you wouldnt know if you bumped into them on the street, to pray for something that is stressing you out, if you basically dont believe in the act of praying at all?
I dont think linda is trolling. Then you come out with who said prayers have to go to God? Who or what are you supplicating? A rock? You and it dont make sense.

You're a complete boob, Linda. When your husband was dying, did ANYONE mention what your religion was or who you prayed to? Did I? How unkind can you get??
"Most people here are decent, sympathetic and caring people. That would exclude you."
You're right, Helen and thank-you. When I read all of the posts, it made my day.

KD - It's YOUR issue that you are unable to separate the two different subjects.....your FIl's illness and your own hyprocisy about God.
Not mine.

For crying out loud!!!
A person posts here that a loved one is dying and the thread devolves into snipes and insults about the OP's religious beliefs or lack thereof?!?
So what if she used the word "prayers"? Would you have felt better if she'd said "thoughts" or "best wishes" or "sympathy" instead? And just why does it matter so much to any of you nitpickers? I'm an athiest, but you will still hear me say "god damn it" on occasion, simply because it is ingrained upon me as a frequently heard curse in our society. There is no religious meaning to it.
Send her your sympathies or don't, it's up to you. But Jeez-Louise, if a person asks for warmth and sympathy in a time of need, why jump in spitting venom?!?

Ah....another self-admitted atheist speaks out.
I was answering the post fenix made.
And anyone who asks for prayers to a 'rock' vs God really should know the difference, imo.
Yes, I do agree asking for well wishes or anything other than mocking the religious rite of prayer would have been much more appropriate. Especially coming from one who has repeated put down religious people.

oh yeah and this board is a well-known place to come for "warmth and sympathy". Why some of the most kind hearted people post her daily - including somebody named kraftdinner who just happens to like trolling out religious threads for her amusement. So hey start a post titled prayers. With a penchant for playing with that topic, its too late to demure to it all being the same thing anyway.

Double, regardless of what you think, most people here are the best listeners and providers of support when things are down. We all put aside our differences because we all have had to go through yucky things. If you want to think everyone is mean, that's your right. I know different.

KD - Said: I don't believe that praying to God changes anything, but I believe praying brings about changes in yourself so you can get closer to what you need help with.
So IF you don't believe praying to God changes anything....why in the world would you start a thread for your ailing FIL titled PRAYERS?????????

Well, gee, thanks for telling me what my right is, kraft. I didnt know that!
People say what they want, what they think, what they feel..::shrug:: I didnt say people were mean, but was saying in effect, people are not stupid and this is not the place for blind sympathy. But I also dont have a need to scold or upbraid somebody to question your sincerity, (or your sense) in titling this thread prayers.
You said you are whacking out. Maybe you are?

Double, I was referring to the Bug Eaters thread and some of my replies. I was thinking about stupid, gory things that night and could have easily gotten into a fight about all the stuff allowed in food, which would have spun into another anti-meat tirade on my part. I decided to go to bed instead.

Oh yes, shame, shame, shame on me for calling prayer what it actually is.
It is NOT wishing or hoping for something.
It is NOT wanting your favorite candy to be in the store when you get there.
But shame on me for pointing that out to all the atheists here.

You don't have to point out ANYTHING to me...unlike you, Mama Sheep, I can think for myself and decide prayer or anything else is what I belive it to be
Hey I thought up some new words to "Silent Night" for lindachristians....

Kraft, you have to realize linduh is a neocon, must be TOLD what to do, directed, programmed like a robot. Independent thinking is certainly NOT their greatest skill.
And imagination? Non-existent
