What auction sites are almost as good as ebay?? I have looked at Bidville-looks like deadville. Ioffer looks like a good site. Yahoo I just listed a few items there and there were no sales. Any suggestions on auction sites please list them here. Thanks.

I don't find bidville to be dead at all. Many of the listings are take it priced close at first bid. Bidville take it auctions are being listed on Froogle and the pageviews are increasing. There was a time when pageviews sat at zero, but that's not the case now.

Put down the crackpipe. All one has to do is see how pathetic the featured sellers are doing. BTW nice to see you again Cuff.

Just because a seller is featured it isn't a guarantee of sales. For instance, if you were featured you'd probably not get any sales because you put all of your energy into running around acting like an ass.

You offend and slander me blairwitch. I don't use crack, and I'm neither cuff, nor intruder. If you persist in disrupting this thread I'll be emailing auctionwatch to ask them why they allow you to abuse other members. You are probably the one who should watch out

No such animal.
To be brutally blunt comparing Bidville to eBay is like comparing a Ford Fiesta to a fleet of Boeing 747s.

I agree. That's why I didn't suggest that the poster list at bidville. If he's looking for anything comparable to ebay he'd better try another planet. Ebay is not for small scale sellers though. You'd go broke paying all the fee's.
I often wonder why there is such animosity toward alternative sites when all they do is offer low overhead and a place for small scale sellers to exist.

You're not going to find another auction site that even remotely compares to eBay. I'd say Yahoo would be second place, but it is such a distant second that you're looking at a different animal.
Everyone has looked for what you seek at one time or another, some give up real quick, and others are still looking. Best of luck.

Check out the ioffer thread, what we have been looking for,for so long..
Yahoo changed homepage and featured hurt many sellers auctions even more than the last time. Many sellers moving to ioffer, ebay powersellers too.
Ioffer will be #2 before you know it.

Find a second site you like and post your items, when you send out the EOA email on feebay tell your buyers where you parked your other stuff.
Also leave the shipping amount off your feebay auctions and when someone emails you to ask how much give them the shipping amount and tell them you also combine from the other site.
If you sell general stuff post on a general site, if you sell niche stuff use a niche site.
Over time you will build up a customer base and word of mouth will start paying off.
Good Luck.

Hi
I have been listing on ioffer for over 5 months and have to say its been great for me.
My sales have gone up up up by 10 times or more.
My user name on that site is lotsofstuff.
It is free to list and you only pay when you sell an item.
I have over 600 items listed and I list new items every day.

I've not had the volume of sales others have, but I've had a couple more and I've been shopping at Ioffer too.
I used their want ad system to restock my button inventory - got lots of responses and fast to my ad.

We list our best goods on ebay, and the seconds end up on yahoo. Like another member said use ebay to your advantage. We give every ebay buyer our yahoo booth link in both the EOA email, and we include a note with the shipment. We tried this on many 3rd tier sites, but your average buyer will not register on sites like bidville. I havent checked out this ioffer yet, but it may work who knows.

ioffer is a WIN WIN Situation!!!
NO Listings FEES====You can list your items for 30 days or 60 days. If you list 2 or more items you have a ioffer store and its FREE--- All other sites charge a monthly fee for stores.
If you wish to Buy items in BULK just go to any of the sellers STORE and Make a bulk offer.
AT Auctions Prices GO Higher-- On the ioffers site prices can go down with your fair offers!!!
If you list 100 items per week on ebay your fees for just listing will be at least $30.00 for the 100 items. But on ioffer no charge to list the 100 items, you only pay a fee when you sell the item.
WIN WIN Situation!!!!
Try it you will like it!!!
My user name at ioffer.com is lotsofstuff

hi YES!!!you got it all ready..
some are coming to chat with buy now min 2.00 on an item..NOPE..it is not AN AUCTION.will not go up.they will offer you LESS.......so we explain how it works..very different..better & faster too..
i put for example 12.99 if i will accept 9.99..see? people want to be able to have the fun of haggling...
IT IS ALL BUY NOWS..OR OFFERS..
you can put a price a bit higher than you want(you may get a buy now too) or YOU CAN PUT MAKE AN OFFER..then decide when you get the offer..
here is more info..buyer tour & seller tour,,etc..
http://www.ioffer.com/help/sellerHelp.jsp#topic2
all welcome at help chat too..
read the ioffer thread here at auctionwatch too...good info..
thanks
ps if you put make an offer,,ok? and use mrgrabber to mirror your stuff at ebay..or have the items listed at another site..NO PROBLEM..JUST USE MYIOFFER TO END IT..no problem or excuse needed..no one can buy it now since you MUST APPROVE ALL OFFERS thus no way to sell the same item twice..
want ads there are sales leads..tons of kewl stuff.
come to chat..we are usually there
fun site growing so fast..was ewanted for 2 years..NOT A TINY SITE..a million members..free listing,30 or 60 day listings,,free relists,,final sales fee only..they are redesigning the site,,doing great new stuff..you can import your feedback..etc..only rule no email addresses on the site.they have a SUPER STABLE SITE & EXCELLENT in house mail system..for offers,questions..they email to you & you can also access through myioffer.
you may link to your WEBSITE AS LONG AS YOU LINK BACK..they even have banners for ya..(not to auctions,,to your website) free customizable store just list 2 items.
good luck

I only sell on ioffer and ebay, those two sites keep me real busy.
I will go take a look and see what I think about that auction site.
There are so many out there its hard to make up you mind what one to list on.

I thnk you are asking the same question we have all asked ourselves at one time or another. One thing for certain--as far as general auctions, nothing and no one beats eBay.
However there are niche sites that may do well in certain categories. If you ask an electronics seller--his answer will be different than a collectibles seller. You just have to get a list of alternative sites and check out your category.
I like Popula. It does well for me as a second source of sales. I sell vintage jewellery and occasionally a collectible, book or sewing item. Vintage clothing seems to do well too. Forget sports, brand new items and electronics. It is a niche site for the offbeat and collectible. List 100 things a month--listing fees are forgiven. One time relist for free too.Nice people to work with too.
Then I guess we have to think about what "good" means. To me it is an extra $100 a month. To many that is peanuts. It is all in the eye of the beholder.
Good luck!Keep trying! I hope you find a good niche site. Or try an alternative to auctions-like Ioffer.

I sold on Popula some time ago, but it seems to me a very hard site to list your items.
The site was very easy to use about 1 year and 1/2 ago. But not now to hard to list, so I just gave up.
I was selling vintage paper items and doing very well till the site changed.
ioffer is very easy to use and fast to list.
ioffer user name lotsofstuff.

Lets talk about sites that Bite. BentMoneky is one on my list. I get spam from them everyday. I told them it would be a cold day for I come to their site.
Some kid puts up an auction site and then uses spam to get people to come.
It probably runs on a free hosting acount also.

Use Ebay as your primary and Yahoo as your backup. 90% of sales will be on ebay 10% of sales will be on Yahoo and Zero% sales on the rest.
Someone also wrote that ioffer is a win win situation. What a bunch of bull. I had items listed there for 6 months and rarely even had a page view let alone an offer or bid.
Stick with the big two and leave the rest to die a miserable slow death.
