All of these auction sites could be just as big as Ebay if they advertised on web pages and if sellers actually started selling there.

Yes!!! Ebay is big only because they were the very first online auction and it just took off. But they are losing the old sellers more and more every day.
I use to list 100 items per day when ebay was Nice the there selllers and the fees were low. I list about 100 per week now.
I list and sell way more on ioffer.com.
I am listing at least 20 new items very day.
No listing fees, the fees are only charged when you sell your items.
I love ioffer+++its a Win Win Site!!!
You win when you list-NO Fees

Wasn't it posted somewhere that ioffer had millions of registered users?
If so, why are there so little listings compared to the amount of users? (roughly 100,000 +/-)

Looks like I will be staying away as well. I agree with stonecold on this one. If I want to be haggled all I need to do is sell at a flea market...no thanks!

I only pay fees when I sell. HOW SWEET IT IS (SMILE).

Over a 1000 listings on ioffer with no page views for me. That is why I let them expire. To bad I got sucked a while back by the ioffer spewers. Oh the time I lost. Let this be the warning to the rest. Learn from my mistake. Use only Ebay and Yahoo. Leave the rest to die a quick death.

Hi toollady, yes there are a million members,,but remember Ioffer is only 8 months old 100,000 listings is very good.
The point is they were e-wanted for 2 years thus the large membership, many of these members from before are buyers which is probably why the sales are good for some..
they are sending out a huge mailer this week and many new features coming out in April...
thanks for asking

What about sellyouritem.com? Anyone listing there?
I haven't visited that site in months, so maybe I answered my own question.

Yes I'm still listing there - and have made some sales.. the SYI99 events are particularly popular - we had over 25% sellthrough for last month's events.
Expect to see some more sellers maybe giving it a try after Ebay kills Mister Lister.

In my opinion there are very few really good non-ebay auction sites but the free store at ioffer is the best deal on the internet. I'm thinking of setting all my store prices at non-negotiable so as to not have to deal with the few buyers that want to get an item at 20% of the stated price.

I agree auctionace. I sell jewelry and my ebay sales were going down and the fees were getting higher. I was have been on ebay since 97. I have tried yahoo, amazon, bargainandhaggle etc. I got sick of $2200 ebay bills. On pure luck I found bidz.com (someone was asking about them on the ebay boards) before they stopped taking jewelry merchants and now I am making 5 times what I did on ebay and my bills are alot lower. The NPB ratio is lower too and the best part is, you get a real person if you have any problems. I know of alot of ebay sellers that buy from bidz.com to resell on ebay. (they use bidz pictures)
So if you guys sell anything other than jewelry you may want to try bidz.com.

I think a web presence via a web store is the wave of the future. Buy Iy Nows and one bid auctions are getting to be the norm rather than the exception on ebay. Why not run a few BIN ebay auctions and steer those winning bidders to your web store? With Froogle as another method of getting buyers there is hope for non-ebay selling.

I noticed a flurry of activity in the lounge at SYI (sellyouritem) tonight.
Seems there's a recent influx of ebayers who have jumped over and are at least using the chat boards.
Would be nice if their posts translated into auction traffic as well.

Unfortunately that increase in chat boards traffic is probably due to a new structure in the ebay chat boards. Many of the oldtime posters are leaving those chat boards because the moderators are cracking the whip.

The ioffer listing total are rising fairly good each day as well. Ebay is back to the 10 million items listed level again with the close of three day penny gallery/template/Gift Services promotion.

They are in the process of updating the seller software so the certified merchants are on hold from listing until it's complete. There are no listings in that category because of this. Bidz.com themselves only sell jewelry, cd's and slot machines. I assure you that it is a terrific site to sell on. Last month for 700 listings I did 12k plus
Thanks,
Kristie

On sellyouritem.com do you HAVE to pay that photo service to get a picture in an auction? I have been going round and round in circles try to just import some auctions. I keeps taking me right to the picture service. if so there is nothing free here at all.

fetish, you may want to try ioffer instead. If you want to have a set price on an item then you can click a non-negotiable price box on the listing form. Much like ebay, a lot of business goes on outside of the site. No matter what, it is a real hoot to have a free quality store to send customers from other auctions to in your EOA letters.

I figured out the problem. ioffer is a total waste of time. Two months ago listed 75 relist type auctions (sells like hot cakes on e bay) NOT 1. sale!
