Well, I'm dying to know what is on the eBay Detactive Agency, but there is no chance that I will register with these weirdo's.

IMHO, they would not require a password unless they are hiding something, and I want to know what they are hiding!

Will someone please post the password here?

For those who believe that it is "immoral" for a relative to bid on an auction, even if they intend to buy, I have a question:

At what point does it cease to be immoral? Is it immoral for first cousins, but not for second cousins? How about cousins who were adopted into the family? How about my "uncle" Charlie who is not actually my uncle, but such a close friend of my parents that we consider him part of the family?

Also, do you consider it immoral to sell anything to any family member, or only in an auction format. How about if a "buy price" were used? Is that still immoral?

I know that the Ebay rules just state "family" and that these rules are arbitrary. But morality is not arbitrary. If this is immoral, there must be some line that defines the immoral behaivor.

Thanks for the news.

I checked and SecretAgentWoman was NARU within 3 hours after the start of this thread.

I bet Larissa doesn't think this is a troll now. . .

I had a previous selling id that got NARUd while I was suffering from an illness. I have never bought or sold with secret*agent*woman, and that id was created months ago as a posting id, but it was NARUd on the technicality that one id can't be active while the other is NARU.

No problem, the aupport team is working with me, as soon as I get them evidence that I took care of my customers, and my costumers email them in support of me, I will be re-instated.

raygomez: I was unaware that one can learn the TIME that eBay NARU's an account.

Frankly, although you didn't ask my opinion, from my perspective, this entire messagethread, afain & again referred to as the work of Trolls, actually strikes me as one long and rather involved, intricate **advertisement** for the eAuction Detective Agency.

Dr Trooth--that was November of 98. And not GPO--I work on Capital Hill.

OK....though I did not think that I was there in 98.....but now I do realize that I was. My apologies for the incorrect date.

As to the latter....wel I am pretty sure that I recall that it [at the time] WAS the GPO....but OK....so what. Its the same Church....different pew.

I know that you would never post during your jobs time and/or on their machines. And the veiled threats to use the 'perks' of your position to cybersnoop were also a figment of my fertile imagination.

Carry on.

Fertile, yes. I don't have any perks.

If so, the attempt has backfired and now the agency is a big joke.

HJW: IMO, nothing backfired. They have a news article archived at MSNBC which depicts eBay as filled with shills. I have NO idea WHY any reporter would rely on ANY chatrooms for ANY story, due to the entirely anonymous nature of the Internet, but MSNBC did.

The first people over to the T&S Board would have been able, as I did to read 1,000s of posts about shilling, shillers, and their name for powersellers - they call them powershillers.

Indeed, NOT once did they EVER advise anybody to report any of this criminal activity to the FBI.

Instead there are literally 1,000s of posts SCREAMING that eBay does nothing.

I find all of those people HIGHLY suspicious, I find the four invitations I received to off-eBay boards - immediately after I started posting publically HIGHLY suspicious, and I am VERY alarmed that eBay would allow THOUSANDS OF POSTS OVER WEEKS AND WEEKS filled with fear-mongering. NO wonder eBay sellers saw a precipitous decline in bids.

Meantime, sellers all over are reporting auction interference and auction sabotage, and receive NO help from eBay.

AND, now we see that Mr. Bezos deludedly thinks that we booksellers all are gonna be HONORED to pay him 99-cents plus 15% to sell books at his IMO miserable excuse of an eBiz.
The timing, IMO shows a remarkable harmonious synchronicity.

Thanks for that clarification. I've been diligently trying to piece
this stuff together just based on the auction watch treads. It's
remarkable that an MSNBC reporter would author a story based on chat room threads
as a source.

I will also decline the "honor" of listing my books for Mr Bezos!

I have deleted your post because it contained an eBay User ID. There are several steps that must be followed if you wish to post identifying information.

More information can be found in the Community Guidelines, linked below.

HGH: There were repetitive admonitions, again and again and again --- that the ONLY way to avoid being shilled at eBay is to NEVER bid on ANY eBay auction.

I have NO idea WHY eBay allowed posters to state that 1000s of times these past few months.

Now, they will prolly try & "calm me down" stating that there is NO reason for ANY bidder-verification, because crime is infintesimal at eBay.

Have you read the article over as MSNBC??

Secretagentwoman has only stated in this thread that she had a previous ID that was NARU'd. Nowhere that I can find in this thread does she post her former ID. If I've missed it - please point me in the right direction.

If -for arguments sake- an MSNBC reporter is playing a trick on us wouldn't their job in in jeopardy or maybe get a reprimand?

In my opinion, MSNBC wouldn't appreciate being embarrassed.

Yes, I read the article. It's really outrageous that an MSNBC reporter would give
this coverage to a vigilante group.

Ebay should NARU each and every one of them.
This is nothing but auction interference.

And, it's clear that the reporter only has one side of the story...
from their viewpoint. Could they possibly be supported by another
auction site other than Ebay. Could this be auction site sabatage...I mean sabatage to ebay?

It appears to me that there is something undercover going on here and I wonder if
it's only about shilling on Ebay?

There's a really long thread about that over at the T&S, AND yes, I'm with you -- the whole thing looks HIGHLY suspicious to me. I'll bounce that MSNBC thread to the front page of the forum.

HJW--you are right. Lots going on. Super hush hush stuff. Has everything to do with the Pillsbury Bakeoff and 20 lbs of dark chocolate (Swiss, bitterwsweet). That and keeping track of the various small packages that used to be Jimmy Hoffa.

I think I can clarify something here. It's obvious to me since I've been following the happenings on eBay's T&S Board that the originator of this thread did NOT receive that email from the EAuction Detective Board. (formally the eBay Detective Board) The email, if there was one, could easily have originated from the other board that was formed by some of the more militant members that left the EAuction Detective Board to start their own very very ultra secret and muti-password protected board originally named the Online Militia (recently changed to the Happy Holiday Board) for the EXPRESS purpose of trying to discredit the EAuction Detective Board.

IMO, this other board is the one you really need to worry about since the originator is a combative, abrasive 23 year old who operates entirely behind a closed and locked door.

BTW, if you could follow this post you're doing GREAT!!

As the moderator sometimes says, you need to stay on topic. Or maybe
you could use some strong coffee to
go with that Pillsbury cake. And what will
you do with Hoffa?

I'm going to bed now. Maybe you will feel
better tomorrow.

Thanks for that info. I did check the T&S out...briefly. Combative and abrasive is putting it very mildly. Radh has a lot of courage to take on that group.

It's getting late here on the East Coast so
I guess I'll take a peek again tomorrow.

No, I do NOT believe that this was the work of a buncha 23 year old warez teenagers.

However, it is certainly correct that innuendos about teens, pranks, hoaxes, paranoia & associated memes started to rear their cute liddle non-influential heads a couple days back.

Some PRANK.

I think not.
