You're welcome, Dbl. I've liked what I've seen of Quinn's films. But I can't say I go out of my way to see something simply because he's in it.

me either, bunni. But he does have that certain something that is compelling as an actor when I have seen him in films.

Just watched 10 minutes of the show....why don't their lips match their speech??
Japanese Grade B movie syndrome?
I can see where Quinn produced it...so many shots of HIM. Great "christian" family ! Rich, nasty, spoiled.

I missed it and watched Stargate instead. I'll check BitTorrent tomorrow. Was it worth watching?
DBLFugger asked: "do you agree with me it was condemned as a slothful behavior and thus seen as a threat to the survival of the Hebrew population?"
Yeah, I guess so. Slothful isn't a word I would have picked, but I guess it works
I think gays have a right to do what they want to do. But I do not believe we should be promoting it as OK or a good thing to be embraced. It's deviant behavior, pure and simple, and should not be advocated in the mass media.

OK then, REVEREND Colin, what's your take on the show BEFORE you've seen it? You can give us a real review afterwards if you like, but I'd like to hear what you think about the hype so far.
Sacriledge or Silliness?

I like this review from the link Colin posted:
"This show can influence too many viewers out there. This is false look on who Daniel was and what he represented. This does not represent Christians and the Lord whom we serve. If you want to really know what the Book of Daniel is about, then pick up a Bible. Daniel was a mighty man of God, and loved Him with all his heart. Daniel was a Christian man, and he would be appalled to see this show if he were alive today. This show does not need to be aired, and should be thrown away and burnded to be forgotten for all times. An apology needs to be given to the Christian community by the person who wrote it and the people who decided to air it to the American public."
I especially like the use of the word "burnded." I wonder if guy guy has burnded many books in his day. I have to wonder how many of the complaints on that site are by people who actually SAW the show. This twit seems to be offended by the TITLE of the show, since he made no comment about the content.

I just finished watching the first hour and will not bother to watch the second hour.
In a word: boring. The show is tedious and dull. Ultra-Christians who are upset by the concept of this program really don't need to worry, as I doubt it will last very long at all.
The characters are all...cartoons. No depth at all and stereotypical. And that includes Jesus.

OK missed the first hour but I enjoyed the second. Not deeply religious, not horrendously sacriledge. I got a kick out of it. Desperate Housewives with less sex and a conscience.

Are you saying there was TWO hours of that show ??!!!
How could anyone , even Quinn's mother, want to see his face that much.
Now you know why I rarely watch TV....if that's the BIG controversial program...what a joke. Sorry, watching spoiled rich folks who think they have problems is only one notch above watching golf.
OH, and the BORING JESUS...Jesus ! Was that UN-original or what ???
Why couldn't Haysus look like oh..I don't know...George on Seinfeld......?????

Having satelite I get both the East and West coast shows shown twice.
Watched the full two hours. Personally I don't think it's going to be on very long.
Imo, the only sane person is Quinn and he's popping Vicodin everytime something else is shown to be out of control in his family's life. I don't see it because he's in physical pain, but rather to 'numb' himself because there's so much disfunction going on around him.
And then his female Bishop, who's sleeping with his father, starts popping the Vicodin too.
No one in this show is what most would consider 'normal' people....and especially not anything at all like what a Catholic family would actually be like. THIS family/friends do NOT represent the Catholic/Esp. faith NOR either of their value system AT ALL.
Even the character who Quinn turns to when school building money has gone missing, is a Catholic priest who's VERY much connected to the Mob.
And I kept waiting for the "comedy" aspect to present itself....because the show was described as "drama"....but some here said it was comedy/drama ..it never did.
I don't think it has much of a chance to survive after it gets the initial attention a new show normally receives.

In the opening post it says:
Jack Kenny, executive producer of "Daniel," dismissed claims that the series is anti-Christian. "We are not in any way satirizing Christianity or Jesus," he said. "It's done with love, honoring those things."
And my conclusion is that YES, they're are, very much, satirizing Christianity and Jesus.

Ha! ""No one in this show is what most would consider 'normal' people....and especially not anything at all like what a Catholic family would actually be like. THIS family/friends do NOT represent the Catholic/Esp. faith NOR either of their value system AT ALL.""
Ya, they never do drugs, never sell drugs, aren't ever gay, never say nasty things to each other, never slug back a martini for Sunday brunch, always have perfect children, ....what world are YOU living in ?

I watched it. I don't think it will last either
whoever wrote this show, its got too many things going on (to make it funny I guess, but it wasn't) The father popping Vicoden, the mother having a drink in every scene, the daughter selling pot to make anime, the grandfather having an affair with another bishop, and the list goes on.
I like Aidan Quinn, but I won't watch it again, 2 hours last night was too much for me.

Still haven't seen it but to answer your question:
The hype is Silliness.
It looks to be a funny comedy.
I've read here the first episode had too many things going on but that's what they usually do with a first show. They try to build on the characters quit, unlike as in a book or movie.
It's a good premise and I hope a good show. Its a comedy, isn't it?
From the reviews I've read, you would have thought it was a biography.

Mingo, you need to read the Harry Potter books...Voldemort is the personification of everything evil, vile, disgusting. He's the arch-villain in the series.
