For anyone who feels their auctions were
negatively impacted by these outages apply for credit. Request listing,
special feature and Final Value Fees. Go to the form at
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?
SendSupportEmailShow&subject=Credit%20--%20How%20can
%20I%20receive%20credit%20for%20insertion%20fees%3F%20 (this has to be copy pasted in pieces to the URL block of your browser)
Send -
* The item number(s) of the ended auction(s)
* The specific fee(s) charged for them
* Your seller's email address or User ID
* The phrase, GIVE CREDIT in the Subject line
This can also be accessed from
http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html
TAG can't emphasize enough that sellers should not take NO for an
answer. If you get a refund denial, keep requesting and
re-requesting refunds until you get them. Some sellers are also
challenging ebaY charges to their credit card, based on services
not rendered. TAG recommends you use that as a last resort, if at all.
We will be posting the actual outage times in TAGnotes and on the website later tonight/early tomorrow.

My most important auction tonight was at $235 with 5 minutes to go, when eBay died for the 2nd time tonight.
Then, unbelievably, with 38 seconds to go, eBay came back up, I know I was re-loading the page every few seconds!
It was just enough time, a sniper got in & bid the item up to $362

Just remember:
"EBAY is unstoppable!!!"
(Meg Whitman wannabe Radh)
(Actually it's quite stoppable- every Sunday night.)
Sorry couldn't resist.
I stopped ending auctions Sunday nights and have begun 7 day listings (as much as I loathe them) and had one of my best weeks ever this week. Go figure.
This latest outage does explain why my current auctions aren't getting any hits grrrrr. (However sold a buncha stuff tonight via buy price on Yahoo. Who says feebay's the only game in town?)

DOWN IN OREGON, AGAIN down just before auctions closed, back on, now DOWN AGAIN. my friend tried for refund, got a canned response, her bill was for 500.00, i thought they would care, answer was NO your auctions weren't impacted (they Were, she listed all #'s,& down times from tagnotes etc)but if there is anything else we can do let us know. How about giving what we pay for?
i feel there will be a class action suit down the road.this is too much. They should be extending & refunding,AT LEAST,,that doesn't EVEN pay us back, but it would help,& help Morale.no company can keep treating it's customers this way and remain in business why can Ebay?
WE ARE CUSTOMERS AREN'T WE?Actually you can really tell when they are doing ok, i get hits & bids,we would all be doing well if it weren't for these outages remember it hurts when they go down when auctions are ending but we will NEVER KNOW how many browsers we miss & lost bids,& bidding wars. What brilliant person chose THE PRIME TIME OF THE YEAR to make all these risky changes?
This is really hurting people.
thanks for listening,Pam

It is indeed interesting that there was no annoucement of problems. I couldn't access my (ar anyone else's) auctions. I couldn't do searches or most any other function.
I decided to check ebay UK. I tried selecting features auctions there and ended up with the wonderful "(dis)functionality" message and it gave a link to the announcement board to check for status. Their site couldn't even get into the annoucement board.

Pam, We have found that 100% of the people who contacted us got their FULL refunds if they persisted. DON'T GIVE IN. Keep requesting the refunds until you get them. The policy on refunds varies widely from one customer support person to the next, and persistence PAYS!!! -Rosalinda

macandjan - unfortunately Topica did a three hour maintenance last night from 7-10 PM PT that is now into its 15th hour. One of the databases with the TAGnotes list on it is still down. If you are interested in seeing the latest outage details, they are on the www.auctionguild.com site - see left hand tool bar last item. Sorry for the problems - at least they are the exception with Topica rather than the rule - Rosalinda
