I should be angry, but won't be.
I did a test search for the items on Ioffer and none of them appear; the Windows 98 doesn't appear in Google or froogle.

But--the free ads I have listed at Craig's List (a free message board) the items appear very prominently as "for sale".

What can I do to cause the items to appear through Ioffer? What can I do to promote the search?

This is a mystery. All the other sites I list the items appear, but not Ioffer.

Maybe this is their weakness as an 'auction' site?

salgal you need to have more keywords in your titles and description. I use craigslist also it's a great local service. It's great for apartment hunting in the bay area. I searched for Windows 98 on google and nothing came up with craigslist either. Windows 98 is a pretty common search term theres only about 4 million mentions of it on google.

The views keep going up - no sale. This is very disheartening.
I like that it has traffic count, don't like that nobody's buying.

Some of the same stuff is on Half.com and I get sales.

how long have you been there? did you import your fb?it's free.

with no fb,less than 50 items, and only on there a week i would not expect a lot of offers..
there are no bids,,it is not an auction site at all it is all buy now or offers.
takes about 60 days to test out a site, should have at least 20-50 items, give it time YOu need feedback to sell nowadays.
Does half have free listing? i wonder how can you compare an ebay owned site with a site 1 year old?
Patience is a virtue ioffer is going to do well, they all ready have in their 1st year.

Doing fine on Amaz and Half. Getting orders every week.
But not ioffer.
Trying to be patient, just antsy bec I see the views going up and no sales.

Also, have a question: I checked off Amex, Visa & M/C as payment. But does that require that I have a merchant account? I don't have.

salga48,
it takes time for the search engine to pick up new items.
if you dont have merchant account, how do you expect to process credit card sales directly??
i mean if someone said i dont want to use paypal, here is my credit card-amex,mc and visa, now what do you do??
you can open an account with propay,it will let you process their cc transaction.you can go to their site and read the details
www.propay.com
i dont see anything so special about ioffer, this make an offer scheme is so clumsy, why bother when there are so many sites i can buy from.

Salgal i wrote & explained you need to type NOT AN AUCTION BUY NOW OR FUN MAKE OFFERS IN EVERY LISTING...
i see what you wrote above????
You wrote """Maybe this is their weakness as an 'auction' site?""
go to www.ioffer.com...see what it says NOT AN AUCTION..ioffer is
Not an auction period.

also i mentioned this on another thread noone that lists at ioffer needs to pay to be in search engines or even submit on thier own.
Ioffer submits to the search engines all the sellers, their profile & store. Also items with a buy now price are fed to froogle.(froogle only accepts items with a buynow)

all they ask & it is very simple is:
1.go to myioffer
2.go to edit profile PUT KEYWORDS OF WHAT YOU SELL IN a nice sentence or more..words of what people would type in looking for that item..a common word like books even ioffer cannot get you on page one of the engines. Try to be specific, if you have a rare book, antique technical mechanical drawing book...put those words in the profile, if you have a rare mccoy cookie jar,,,don't just put WE SELL KITCHENWARE..
nope that will not do it..put "we have a rare Porcelain Antique Mc coy cookie jar listed now check it out.(see the keywords)

take some time for your biz,,heck they give you a templete to name your store,colors,everything..FOR STORES & PROFILE

3.CLICK CUSTOMIZE STORE pick colors add a banner,,& FILL IT WITH KEYWORDS OF WHAT YOU HAVE LISTED..

these items are spidered often by the search engines..if you are new IT COULD TAKE A FEW DAYS OR A WEEK ro TWO TO GET PICKED UP..use this time to build inventory add & remove keywords (as items sell)

ioffer cannot help your sales & hits if you ONLY PUT
"WE SELL A WIDE VARIETY OF ITEMS." or "WHATEVER WE FIND"
No search engine is going to search for THOSE WORDS...

it really is quite simple as they cannot type the words in for you,as a business owner you do have a responsibility to take advantage of the tools they have provided & they have some fabulous tools.all free too!

ps many say i see no BIDS AT IOFFER..you will not it states on home page NOT AN AUCTION it is all buy now or offers sales close immediately,,click a sellers fb to check out recent sales(of people that left fb that is)
good luck there is no reason to pay for keywords just for your ioffer listings..
recommend people and they will recommend you back,,it is all linked..this is a big plus to the search engines, those with websites also put banners ioffer provides with all these links..this is how it works..
read the site map & FAQ...take some time to learn how a site works..
Guys,IT AIN'T EBAY & HALF...cannot be compared to A MONSTER SITE of many years..
..it is a one year old site that is doing wonderful and it is free to list & many free tools.

No reason to BE MAD or ANGRY????if you aren't #1 in searches at google or whatever.for a common item like windows??I doubt you could pay to be on page 1 for a windows listing..

Mad? they are doing this all for free..to help you sell right?? How about a little appreciation
I thank them for all their great ideas..think about it

I always sell on Half.com & amz, but ioffer needs to get some promo going.

Every non-ebay site has the needs promotion problem. You need promotion to get bidders and you need money to get promotion. And that may not even work. One of these days a site will spend millions promoting their site and the bidders may still not come.

I had one offer on iOffer in 2 months and the buyer turned out to be a deadbeat. They never paid. Now I'm stuct with iOffer FVF. How do you apply for credit for a NPB.

Traffic is one thing; sales is another.

I still say Half.com is my best site, next is Amazon.

Well for what it's worth it looks like I've made my first sale. The customer and I agreed on a price.

Now to see if he pays.

Not sure I like this process as it could be time consuming. But it is always nice to make another sale...

Share with us your success; how'd you do it; what was it?

Ioffer needs to MARKET to the public and let them know we're here.

As for the process -- Ioffer probably doesn't want to get caught up in disputes and is basically the middle man and that's it, they don't want to email, answer questions, handle money, whatever, it's between seller and the buyer.

Yup, someone's been in the safe arms of Half.com too long. I wonder how many of these quasi-sellers at Half.com are out there? 5,000 ? more. There a big difference from Half.com selling and online auction selling.

My ioffer customer paid me with Paypal.

The main problem I have with ioffer is that it creates too much hassle for the seller.

I want my items indexed to froogle, but I want the rest self serve.

CS costs time and time is money. If I have to yak and hold my customers hands it just won't work.

Froogle is where it's going to be at and if Ioffer doesn't fix their glitches there are other ways to get there.

I just started on my own online store that will be indexed to froogle.

How do you index to Froogle?
Don't you or Ioffer have to pay for listings?
Doesn't Ioffer automatically creat a search engine for you on the internet?

It looks like ioffer no longer updates the listing on the browse page as the numbers are almost all the exact same today as they were 7/8/03.

So much for tracking their growth.
