Remember when Moo did that 'all messages reviewed first' stuff? What a pain that was. It takes away all spontaneity.

I cant remember that, but the bidville fights have moved to the moo, and I bet the moo management is happy with the increased page views.

Yeah, when Moo tried it there was a bug and the posts frequently got stuck in quenes and they had to abandon the idea.

If Ed is programming the new message center there is a good chance he can't do it and the old setup will be back. Just look at the lack of description search at BV. That was 100% Ed's folly or omission.

The longer the center is down the more likely that the regulars will fall out of the habit of visiting the center. Like Dim said, another well thought out idea.

Will you feel like a fool when you're wrong AA, or will you just switch gears to the next unfounded claim?

What unfounded claim? Ed bragged about his programming prowess when he shut down his "sucessful" nobidding.com ( and Planet Beanie before that ) and then 'forgot' to include a description search. Of course Ed may have completely washed his hands of his Frankenstein creation long ago as he has not posted on his on site in ages. ( someone uses the Prez signature sometimes on announcements but that means nothing )

Let's start a pool to see when the message area is operative again ( either modified or merely restored ). I give them five more days. 9/9/03

Orlando also promised to "sing like a bird" and tell us his side of the paypal story, but the bird flew his coop.

The legendary buzzoon also took on orlando when porn pop-ups appeared on the site.

AA, bidville is slow so I will say 9/15/2003

You know I never believed that that porn popup of Buzz at BV came from the site. He may believe it feverently but he has to be in error. To harp and rag on Ed was in bad taste and rude. It had to come from spyware from a visit from a porn site. To blame that on BV was just plain wrong. No one else got the porn popup but him.

BV needs an announcent page of of kind.

A/W, Now Vendio needs to get rid of NON users of their services. You don't have a monthly bill,,Out,,,,,hit the road..Paying memebers ONLY.

Either you are a paying memeber and have EVERY right to voice your opinions or your NOT and some are just here to interfere. Sell nothing on e bay or anywhwere else for that matter. Parrot what has been read from OTHER boards......

Just my two cents from scanning this.

BOOOOT!!!!!! NON users OUT!!!!

No monthly bill of ANY kind,,,OUT!!!!! Poof!!!!! end of them.

Lead or be left in the Dust....

AND THE BEAT GOES ON,,,,,

If AW/Vendio would support other sites, then maybe some of us would use their services and be paying customers.

Ace, the porn thing was before my time, so I dont have the facts, but it could have been the company providing the popups. In the first place no auction site should have the damn things to begin with.

On another note dim is making many new friends these days lol.

And Cuff is still convinced/obsessed that I'm Dim. Dim and I both ( and probably a majority of BV as well ) strongly dislike her but that is the only connection between us.

I've notice a considerable drop in the listings at BV since the closing of their chat area. Might be a few members dropping out too? I wonder if Bryan/Ed thought it'd only take a day or so to effect the change over?

Ace, you cant be dim, because I am lol. I have nothing against her really, I mean she started a war with me and I ended it quite quickly.

The listings have dropped by over 10,000 now. I still think the message boards will open on the 15th.

Okay, I have 9/9 and you have 9/15. On 9/12 we tie and 9/13 you win the pool.

I think Dim is not me or you but that wildman guy Jackswebb. That's it, that's the ticket.

The listings are dropping steadily now at BV. Can't the BV management see that their inability to modify the chat area reflects on their desire to continue the auction venture? Or are they like Pa Kettle in the old movies ... 'Goin' fix that thing some day Ma' ( with the screen door laying out in the front yard ).

Sounds good to me.

Can you imagine the amount of email bidville must be receiving from angry members unable to chat? It may be a good time to do a "stat report" to determine if the boards have a continued effect on listings.

The only thing that ended quickly was the featured seller statistical thread because nearly everyone agreed it proved nothing and was worthless information. Even Cowpaddy asked what the point was. ROFLMAO

You mean they ended the stat thread after all this time? It was still open when I left several weeks ago.

No, I mean you stopped posting them due to an overwhelming majority who agreed they were pointless.

When they first closed the chat areas I really thought it would only be for a few hours.
Maybe they are trying to wean the site users from being addicted to the battles on their forums?
One thing they may try and it is similar to creating the live chat room for verified members only ( that was a big flop ) is to create a seperate forum(s) that only verified members can view. The mods can throw any controversial or BV negative ( sounds like a blood type? ) into the restricted forum(s) much like Moo did with the MCF in the past. That would let the longtime members spar in private and the mods could do damage control away from most eyes.

BC, I reported the stats for weeks and proved the point dimview and others tried to tell you guys. Thanks for bringing it up, I went and re-read the thread and got some laughs.

On another note the moo is FINALLY putting the auction forums into one large forum. Excellent move that was long overdue.

Ace, I think they are testing the water to see how the listings go. I am sure whoever is running the site does not want involved in their petty fights. I still believe we will see several members as mods.

Speaking of Moo, a new reorganization there may make life tough on Dim and other BV 'cussers?
Patty is retiring from ebay power selling after 4.5 years and says it's because of new upcoming changes to power sellers that are unfavorable. How could she acquire such inside info? I hope ebay does crimp the power sellers style a bit.

"I hope ebay does crimp the power sellers style a bit"

Excuse me? I'm one, and get absolutely NOTHING for it. Why make things worse? I've never needed any support, and never got so much as a coffee mug from them.

I don't even use the logo in my auction ads, but I do have the little icon by my name.

Why is everyone down on Powersellers? Jealousy? Sure there are bad ones, but they don't stick around long.

If you're getting nothing for being a powerseller now you may even get less in the near future. She may be full of BS but she totally quit ebay, even as a possible buyer, over what she sees as a coming 'bad power seller move' of some kind by ebay.

Replay, ya gotta know by know that there is considerable jealousy between the power sellers and non-power sellers.

I can not even speculate what could be so bad a coming change to power sellers that she would retire. Time will tell if she had any good inside poop on the change.

I have several close friends who are powersellers, and they have no clue what she is talking about. They think its impossible that she has any "inside knowledge". Bottom line is if you are making money you will stay. I bet whatever she was selling no longer makes a decent profit. As you guys know stuff is going for pennies on the dollar lately on eBay. I was offered the powerseller program many times, but never joined. The only thing I received from a site was a hat from Yahoo Auctions.

I don't know if you were at the Moo at the beginning but she often boasted of having several friends that were highly connected somehow. She also said she was a very successful seller and was always very busy with her ebay sales. I tried like a sonofagun to get her to reveal what she sold but she never gave in.

I agree with you in that a seller does easily not merely walk away from a successful business. Her profits may have dried up like so many other niche sellers.

I'm willing to bet that ebay has a bevy of CPAs that chart the average sale price, bid count per sale, non-selling item count, etc., etc. and almost everything is going downward in a steady decline. All of that would have no effect on the listings numbers ( except maybe store listings ) as the sellers are trying harder and harder to make sales ( and accepting lower and lower profits ).

"The only thing I received from a site was a hat from Yahoo Auctions."

Why? What did you have to do for that? It's more than I got from eBay. Actually, I did get a pin from eBay when I hit 1000 feedbacks, but I don't think I was actually a Powerseller yet at that point. I've been on eBay for years and only recently become a PS. It's no biggie.

I do like to read the Powerseller message board on eBay. It's a lot more civil than the rest of the boards over there. It's slower moving than the Vendio boards, but it's active enought to be interesting.
