I buy and sell on eBay. I've never sold something on eBay that I have bought on eBay, but will eventually. I've been collecting for twenty-five years, so have a bit of knowledge in one narrow area, which mostly helps when it comes to bargain hunting on eBay. However, my big profits on single items usually come from an occasional eBay sale of an item in my area of expertise. For bread and butter selling, I'm mostly picking stuff up at rummage and church sales--I don't get the big money, but there is much to be said for buying a fifty cent item and selling it on eBay for five bucks. I went to a church sale the other day, it was the second and last day of the sale. They were selling stuff by the grocery sack--whatever you could get into a grocery sack at $4.00/bag. I went nuts. Have not had time to put it up for auction yet--eBay's been too unstable--but when I do . . . .

Guess I am an odd ball - I don't buy on eBay or any other auction, and I collect Nothing! BUT, I also don't like to shop, and don't do the mall thing. I do buy on line, I read a great deal and use Books-A-Million. I occasionally buy specialty items from various companies on line, but I only do that when I am searching for such an item, I don't just buy things that are attractive to me just because I happen to encounter them.

In the last year I think the only things I have purchased on line are a Sleep Mask from a specialty company and books.

I have no problem with buying on eBay or Yahoo, I just don't have any particular wants or needs, and don't enjoy shopping. I LOVE selling.

THANK THE GOOD LORD I am an odd ball or we sellers would be in trouble if most people were like me!

I actually do buy quite a bit, most of what I earn on ebay goes right back into buying different things. I live in a very small town where there is not even a Wal-Mart within 75 miles. It is much easier to buy many hard to find things on ebay and maybe pay a little bit more than to have to make a long, long drive to get them. I have run across some bad sellers lately which has dampened my enthusiasm, but for the most part I am happy.

You mean some people don't? Hehehe. I sell collectibles but buy clothes. I have to drive a long distance to shop anything but Wal-mart or JCPenney. It is a lot easier to make specific searches on Ebay than to browse the web all day. I don't have that much time. I am a fanatic for blazer jackets. All I ever see in the stores are solid colors but I love unusual patterns. And Ebay IS the place for unusual isn't it?

I am a 100% sniper. If I see something on ebay I want, I will have it !

I used to buy alot more, but alot of the items I used to buy are not being listed any more, and if they are, I usely already have it. Although the number of auctions listed on ebay has gone up considerably I find the variety has declined (or maybe it has stayed the same but the quantity is so high it seems like less of a choice).

I sell about 75%, buy 15%. I'd much rather buy, there's so much less work involved.

I do this as a hobby, and I'm just cleaining out 24 years worth of accumulated stuff. I just finished the last shipment of my first bulk auction (around 50 items) and dang, I really can appreciate the work that most of the listers that post here go through. My hat's off to the Power Sellers.

I never buy anything on eBay. The few times that I've wanted to bid on something, I've always found it for much less elsewhere on the Internet and always not an auction.

The other thing is that I sell jewelry and I make sure that I personally know the character and knowledgability of each and every one of my suppliers. That way, when I buy Rubies, I know they are Natural or are made in a Lab; if in a Lab, who made them. When I sell Amber, I know for sure what grade it is before I buy it. I just have a hard time trusting novice auction Sellers whom I don't personally know and trust to be able to get the true scoop on their product before they try to hawk it online.

But then, that's just me.

I used to but that has is stopped due to the bad quality of stuff and the bad descriptions for instance I just bought a collectors doll. The Dress was faded and dirty. The seller said sorry I must have missed it. Okay But it would have been real hard to miss. They did offer a refund. However, I don't want to buy something have to worry that it is not as described and have to worry about sending it back. I have been getting a few things not as described. I have also noted that shipping prices are getting pretty high. I don't mind paying a small handling fee but come on some are charging wayyyyy to much. Then there are a the sellers that don't even say how much the shipping will be I pass those right by. More and more I am doing my shopping the old fashion way right here were I live. Then there are the on-line stores that another story . . . taking forever to mail you purchase changing the order substiting. No wonder so many are going out of business like pets.com and mothernature.com . . .

Last night I went to JCpenny and replaced the doll that was meant as a gift for my aunt. All her dolls will not again be bought the old fashion way. . . .

I have 2 daughters in junior high. In the first week of August, I sat down at the computer with a cup of coffee and I bought ALL their school clothes through ebay. I was even out of town at the time and almost everything had been delivered by the time I got home -- I was away for a week and every time I talked to them on the phone, they would excitedly tell me about the package that had arrived for them that day! (I had sellers address the pkges to each girl by name)

Anyway, I got them all the latest fashions -- their friends have been "Can I borrow that shirt/pants/jacket?" since school began -- they each got enough items to last three weeks without wearing the same thing twice, it cost me about 1/10 what I would have paid in the stores, and my shopping was done in two days.

Talk about a happy dance !
