PROBLEM SOLVED!!
My DH got tired of hearing me whine and picked up the phone and canceled the order!
That will teach me to whine and fuss.
Now, I will have to wait until he returns in June before ordering another one. At least I will have time to research the product a little better and go prepared.
He thinks he was teaching me a lesson, but he will also learn a lesson when the next one I order will be substantially more expensive.. LOL

And if he cancels that order?

Well if it will be another 4 months before he makes it home, cutting him off will just make him seem he's back in Mexico or maybe not.

Well..if he is messing around on me down South, he better hope I never find out.
Men just don't understand the fine art of complaining and fussing. Just because I was verbally expressing my fears and worries, didn't mean that I wanted to cancel right at that moment, in fact I was talking myself around to dealing with the situation.
How rude to pick up the phone and cancel the order in the middle of my complaining...without giving me a moments notice.
He said he thought it would relieve my stress...yeah right! I may just surprise him and go shopping for a new one before he returns.

Classic said: "While you're at it-you should get a dvd recorder and can your vcr"
How reliable are those things? I have a DVD Recorder in my computer and I usually end up throwing out about half the DVDs I try to record. I dunno if I bought chintzy disks, my recorder is that bad, or the technology just isn't reliable. But I've not had good luck.
Does anyone have a DVD recorder set-top box? How well does it work?

I've had three of the Panasonic DVD recorders and loverd every one of them. Classic has one. I could have sworn you had one. They are great. Unless you need to do a lot of editing they are fantastic.

Bebe next time you do go to purchase a Plasma you might want to get one with a higher resolution than the one you listed here, IF you are going to get HD channels they look better with high resolution.

I assume you mean a "stand alone unit"
I have two panasonics-one hooked up to my satellite and the other in my Ebay room.Actually the first unit I bought 4 years ago was a Panasonic 2010.It was the only dvd recorder I have seen that had "VU" meters on it
so you could tell how loud the audio was being recorded.I have not seen these lately and probably for good reason.Mine lasted about 6 months before it crapped out on me.Too bad because the VU meter was a nice feature. If you're already recording on your computer, there is really no need to buy a stand alone unit.I bought my two before I finally got a new computer last summer that has a recording feature.I find myself using the computer more and more because of the editing features. The only thing I don't like about it is,you have to first download whatever you want to record on the hard drive, then record it again back on the dvd which takes longer. But to me the editing features out weigh the time it takes.I have to pieces of advice for you.First DO NOT BUY cheapy blank dvds. They are not worth the aggravation. The only brand I buy is Verbatim. They are a little more expensive, but they are the best brand around.I recently bought 200 hundred of these on Ebay for around $54.00-how cheap can ya get??Another thing is buy a dvd lens cleaner. Those laser lens get dirty-I have a pic of the one I bought from Discwahser. Its a "wet" system with brushs and it works very well.

Thanks Irked, no it isn't the same model. I did my homework and bought one that didn't need any other additions. Just hooked it to the cable box and it works great. Sadly I had to pay almost twice as much for it than the first one.
But it's much nicer and I'm thrilled with the picture quality.. has all the bells and whistles but it will take me a month of Sundays to figure out how to work them.

It was probably easier to purchase this plasma TV than listen to you whine about the one he canceled.
