Homeland Deputy Arrested in Seduction Case

The deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday for using the Internet to seduce what he thought was a teenage girl, authorities said.
Brian J. Doyle, 55, was arrested at his residence in Maryland on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Fla.
Doyle, of Silver Spring, Md., had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The girl was really an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Computer Crimes detective, the sheriff's office said.
Doyle sent pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, the statement said.
During other online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, that he worked for the Homeland Security Department, and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers, the sheriff's office said.
Doyle also sent photos of himself that were not sexually explicit, authorities said. One photo, which authorities released to the news media, shows Doyle in what appears to be homeland security headquarters. He is wearing a homeland security pin on his lapel and a lanyard that says "TSA."
The Transportation Security Administration is part of the Homeland Security Department.
On several occasions, Doyle instructed the girl to perform a sexual act while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her, investigators said.
Doyle later had a telephone conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the teenager and encouraged her to purchase a Web camera to send graphic images of herself to him, the sheriff's office said.
He was booked into Maryland's Montgomery County jail where he was waiting to be extradited to Florida, the sheriff's office said.
There was no immediate response to messages left on Doyle's government-issued cell phone and his e-mail, and he could not be reached by phone at the jail for comment.
Homeland Security press secretary Russ Knocke in Washington said he could not comment on the details of the investigation. "We take these allegations very seriously, and we will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation," Knocke said.
Washington television stations showed footage of police escorting Doyle from his home in handcuffs. One arresting officer carried a large box. Doyle was bent over in the front seat of the police vehicle in an apparent attempt to hide his face.
Doyle, who is the fourth-ranking official in the department's public affairs office, was expected to be placed on administrative leave Wednesday morning.

I would normally agree with that statement, however, the Republicans obviously have dug their own grave running on the "morals and ethics" platform for way too long. It has become painfully obvious that their history of corruption, sex scandals, and race relations are far worse than what they love to portray the Democrats to be, and even further than the "Dream Republican" idealogy.
Neither party is perfect, excuse me, perhaps I should say both are far from perfect, but don't think for a moment that flaunting a "do as I say, not as I do" attitude won't be met by harsh ridicule when the time comes. That would be one of the reasons why I am not affiliated with either party, and I would guess that you aren't either Ron.

(CNN) -- A Department of Homeland Security spokesman charged with soliciting a minor over the Internet was disciplined in a previous job after an incident in which pornographic images were seen on an office computer, his friends and former co-workers said.
Brian Doyle resigned from his Homeland Security Department post Friday, his 56th birthday.
Doyle remains in a Maryland detention center where he awaits extradition to Polk County, Florida. There he is charged with seven counts of solicitation of a minor and 16 counts of transmitting pornographic material to a minor. An extradition hearing is scheduled for May 4.

The irony... Homeland Security is supposed to be watching child pornography and online soliciting of minors, going as far as pressuring Google and other online businesses to turn over their files so they can investigate and search for these types of perverts. Yet, they can't detect it within their own organization even when there were previous clues into Doyle's past??? Hypocrisy, pure hypocrisy.

I was waiting to comment until I heard what he political affiliation is....
But it doesn't matter. There are perverts on both sides of the fence...(you can find them if you look).
What I find most upsetting are posters who grab ahold of things such as this, like a rabid dog, and try to make it into a political issue when it clearly is not. So you assumed he's a Republican, you project all Republicans are just like him. So he's really a Democrat, does that mean you are just like him?
And happens on both sides of this forum. One of the reasons I rarely comment in these threads anymore.

However, the fact that a child molester could be hired and promoted to a prominent position in Homeland Security is troubling. The reckless manner in which he revealed his status online must be an indication that he was seriously unbalanced mentally. So, you have to wonder how this degree of insanity escaped notice within an organization designed to protect our communities.

I have no idea but a background check was done as all civil service jobs have background checks, unlike Antique dealers.

Just like they were jumping all over what THEY saw as the fact that Newt was going against the Bush administration on pulling out of the Iraq war. LOL
They were THRILLED TO DEATH.....until I pointed out that it just wasn't true. By reading Newt's website...he had made those statements since 2003....he wasn't TURNING AGAINST this administration also...which is what they were SO happy about.
But see....that's what continues to happen...and why the NYT is ALWAYS making their large number of corrections....because they either lied ...or were WRONG.
They'll learn, maybe, someday....but SOME will NEVER learn.

The news about Doyle broke after Clifton Bennett, the 19-year old son of Arizona's GOP Senate President Ken Bennett, was charged with sodomizing 18 boys who were between the ages of 11 and 14 at an Arizona youth camp. Bennett and a friend were charged with sodomizing the youths with broom sticks and flashlights. WMR has previously reported that similar abuse of underage teens at Abu Ghraib was videotaped and the tapes were made available to senior White House staff for "entertainment" purposes.
