I'm sorry for not stating my TOS here it is-

I accept cash (sent at buyers risk), money order, check, or paypal.

Payment is expected within 15 days of EOA.

I will ship anywhere in the world, extra shipping applies to anywhere outside US or Canada.

I don't feel these TOS are very strict!

Before last month, I have only filed 5 FVF ever! It's been a huge jump in deadbeats.

imabrit,
I'm with you, I have NO TOS either and I take ANY form of payment.

In my ad I state that I ship within 48 hours of receipt of payment, that includes checks.
I have never held a check and "knock wood" have never had one bounce.

In my EOA notice I make NO demands, and am friendly enough to the point that they feel individualized and that makes them want to do business with me.

There is a whole range of personalities out there and 1 word taken the wrong way can turn a buyer OFF big time.

Well, just look on these boards how differently things can be interpreted.

Then again maybe its just karma and you're getting your due from a past indiscreation.

That's an interesting observation. I suppose the same point could also be made concerning buyers who have poor experiences on eBay too, don't you think?

I don't list a tos other than cost of shipping and I've only had one deadbeat in
three years....when I sold a Dungeon and
Dragon book to an Australian.

May, just maybe, Ebay might finally get tired of losing money, having to refund all those FV fees.., and get the message there there could be a "small flaw" with the system....

The very silly side of this is that one cannot file a NPB report sooner than 7 days after EOA, then have to wait another 10 days to file for credit...And all that time, the deadbeats keep merrily bidding....

Shosh:

Don't you just love how ebay coddles the DEADBEAT BUYERS, and make it a longer, more difficult process for the seller to recoup his fees?

I had to stop listing in the super features because of these people.

Can't afford to lose $125.00 bucks on a listing.

Luckily I've had very few complete deadbeats in my time on eBay, and I haven't really noticed an increase in those lately, but I HAVE noticed a large increase in "slow payers"--I'm waiting longer for the snail-mail payments than I used to. I have to send more reminders. I'm grateful that most of them pay up eventually, but it does seem to be the season for forgetting, as Keziak said. I tend to think they will improve in January when they're snowed in and want their stuff.

I like your idea kkbclear about buyers having to register with credit card too........ I had a stiff that not didn't buy but sent vulger post at me for filing against "him". I fell like the buyer is protected but not me the seller. I asked if I could skip him because knew it would never fly but had to go by the rules I guess-- meanwhile missing out 2nd highest bidder I am sure .

celebrity-- I did send a letter of compaint to the "powers that be" on e-bay. Still haven't heard back........ my deadbeat eill receive 3rd neg feedback WHEN I can finally post it after yet another waiting period( for the benefit of the buyer again!)

Gosh Shosh got a beef with having to wait 7 crummy days to file for FVF. IMHO that isn't coddling the deadbeat buyer that's making sure it is truly a deadbeat situation. Besides the whole process takes 17 days of which 3 business days of that is the initial contact period. So you are waiting 14 days, if you stop, look, read the TOS's and see what they say. That's exactly how much time is in the average TOS for payment to arrive.

So there's no flaw in ebay's deadbeat system. Except maybe it still doesn't have an effective way to address the seller that uses it to offset a negative. Or there isn't one to address deadbeat sellers.

Funny thing though the deadbeats always seem to rise when the colleges break either for the holidays, for summer, or Spring Break.
