Microsoft may have been in part naive in his idea of buying an id and its feedback - perhaps thinking of the franchise analogy. It would be interesting to hear from him again, and to get a thoughtful reaction to the posts which have been added since he last posted.

I say this because we have so many things going on on eBay that he may not be aware of: sport bidding is really more a category-related issue than a seller feedback-related issue; sellers with large feedback can in theory be unreliable (look at some of the powersellers who seem to have ramped up too fast and who start getting bad feedback after a good start due to perhaps inefficiency, etc.); sellers with small really solid feedback seem to attract buyers at a good rate and grow their feedback quite quickly; etc.

In sum, whatever the underlying motives for wanting to do this, on a strictly pragmatic level, doing it might not at all get Microsoft what he wants out of it, even if eBay didn't stomp on such a thing.

I doubt if Microsoft is looking for Powerseller status with a 1000+ userid.

From what I just heard on Q&A, the feedback criteria for Powerseller is a rating of at least 100 and a positive ratio of 98%.

Microsoft's current userid, whatever it may be since it is not "microsoft" on eBay already qualifies on the feedback rating criteria (if not the positive ratio).

Well, actually, it is Ebay's intellectual property. The feedback idea etc is their setup.
You are buying into their system, and by agreeing to their terms you are agreeing that your feedback represents you and your interactions with the community.

This is a no-brainer!

List 1000 items worth 1.00 for .01 = .33 shipping.
When pos f/b is left -- send them .99 for each f/b
It could happen!

Wondering about that "taxfree" part -- is a future IRS audit part of the deal?

What if the seller of his 1000+ FB makes sure the buyer has some established reputation, say 75 FB? Can anyone honestly say you wouldn't buy from a 75 FB seller? No one! So therefore I see no difference if the person trades up to a higher rating!

Capriole brings up a valid point, lots of feedback means NOTHING to buyers. If the buyer is savvy (and increasingly they are not), they will check for postitive feedback. That's ALL that matters. As I had referred to in my post, I would much rather buy from a knowledgeable seller with 30 or 40 all positive feedbacks. Too, I figure that a lot of power sellers (no offense meant) who do have 1000s of feedbacks probably have less time to carry out meaningful feedback with me. Again, it depends on the item sold, Wal-Mart vs. Tiffany's, beanies vs. diamonds.

"Cix is right.
You are trying to ride the coattails of another persons work, with no guarantee to bidders that you will do the same."

That's Free Enterprise. It's called a buyout. And in this case, it's not even a hostile takeover. There are plenty of good businesses that get bought out all the time, sometimes it works to the betterment of the company purchased, and sometimes not. In this particular matter, only time and the buyers can judge.

"... why chastise ppl if someone is coming on the board and perpetrating fraud?"

As alluded to in a post above, there is way too much paranoia evident in these boards--And after reading so much of it, I'm beginning to think that way myself. Every slow payment or slow e-mail response sends up a red flag that this might be that first nonpaying bidder, with all the possibilities of negative feedback abuse. But to assume that Microsoft's desire to buy an ID is based on "perpetrating a fraud" is sort of jumping the gun.

"Besides, I have a hunch that this is a troll."

We're all trolls in someone's view. If we could always see ourselves through other's eyes, and react appropriately, the world would be a different place.

Thank you so so much for your inputs, but I already got an offer from a guy with 1,587FB and already paid him, and he already put all my info on it, also change the ID name, and the password, all I have to do now is wait 30 days until the sunglasses disappear and will start doing business. Thank you to all of you, I would really answer to every one of you but time is something I don't have much

Cix, my friend please no hard feelings, I have enough money to try to fraud people, the only reason that I'm buying this id because I have no time to start from 0, I already did with my real business, and I'm a very reputable businessman in the Computer business and now I have money to buy what is required to compete with others, sadly you just are just starting and that's the reason you think that way.

Thank you so much guys, if everything goes like in my other business, I will be interested in buying another one, so please make an offer, after all 2 is better than 1.

Thank You for this great service
