Beth..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! The next half century will be great!
Furkidmom....buyers are what we need on ebay...anything..I reapeat..anything..that would in any way restrict new buyers from jumping on this bandwagon is bad for business.

But Amy would you agree to disagree that a new buyer that is a bad buyer is a non buyer? So what the heck good does it do to protect those types of new buyers? NONE that's what! Sorry but my bandwagon just has seating capacity for people who are responsible, not those that have nothing better to do then play games on my time. mrpotatohead hit it right on the nose. What's in it for EBAY if they cannot create revenue? Well one thing they could do would be to cut down on some of the traffic to the site (causing the now famous functionality problems) by so many sellers having to file NPB'S and FVF's right?

Furkidmom...there is no way to know if a new buyer will be a bad buyer. You can screen all you want but you can't guarantee you will be able to weed out those you think are bad. but I will be willing to bet that if some form of screening were instituted there will be more good buyers who will be "weeded" out than there will be bad.
And even those good buyers can become bad at some point after they are "verified" and there would still be a deadbeat problem.
Deadbeats are annoying and cost the seller money but there is no way to get rid of them so why beat your head against a brick wall worrying about it.

I think that the occasional NPB from a bidder is something that could happen--especially with some of the jumpy sellers who neg in 7--yes count them because I have seen these types of negs--7 days! I dismiss those NPB negs due to the length of time given before the neg. Of course now with the new NPB thing, you can't neg in 7 days anymore...
However, I agree that the people who are bidding on 80 items to the tune of thousands of dollars that these people can in NO WAY afford is ridiculous and needs to be addressed!
Also, the way that Ebay makes it so easy to retract a bid is ridiculous! They nearly encourage retractions with the ease of use that they have provided! I am glad that they are keeping track of retractions, but does anyone know if they take notice if the person is a habitual retractor and NARU those buyers?

Habitual retractors need to be reported to [email protected] so their account can be reviewed. They'll be warned, eventually suspended if htey continue to abuse it.
