I don't argue against pepper spray, tasering or for that matter deadly force when the public safety warrants their judicious use Linda. Please do not presume to generalize my comments here about this specific case to some sort of imaginary "lefty" ideas you think I might have.
I've already stated that I thought this guy was a fool for challenging the police. It also looks to me like the police had no reason to taser the man 5 times.

I don't believe that anyone here would excuse this students behavior but it's important to try to understand his motivation in behaving the way that he did. Apparently it was his perception that the campus police had an agenda against Muslims...somewhat like Linda has expressed here. Just imagine Linda with a taser and there you have the situation in a nutshell.
This student did not consider himself "so special" as Linda has described above. He saw himself with the handicap of being a Muslim in a country where people like the campus police use tasers to enforce library rules and people like Linda think it's LOL funny.

profe - I'm sure everyone who read what you wrote comprehended it. So did I.
What I see happening all the time is statements like this: "when the public safety warrants their judicious use Linda."
And then there's NEVER a time when it's warranted.
That is MY point....MY experience...MY observations. Rarely EVER any support for our enforcement officers - they, like our troops, rarely get support for ANY action taken against those breaking our law/rules.
The law breakers actions are almost discounted while the actions of those whose job it is to deal with these jerks...get pretty much NO support - only criticism from the left. Which is why *I* have formed MY OWN opinion that they're anti-cop in most situations. Because that's how they react to whatever situation went down.

And then there's helen....who always supports those who break laws/rules....makes up some sorry ass EXCUSE for why they behaved POORLY ...this time it's because he was supposedly a muslim.
Well...guess what....race/culture nor religion are EXCUSES for thinking THEY are above the rules/rules. Period. They aren't.
But those who PLAY the race card, like helen, will always use that as their excuse. She defends the undefendable and can always find SOME excuse for why we should 'understand THEIR reasons'.

If you listen to this sensationalism reporter. Fact is, each and everyone of those cases, the TASER was cleared of the cause of death. In each and every case, the person had a pre-existing condition which in turn was the actual cause of death. But your sensational reporter didn't tell you that.

Dead is dead sweetheart. When a police officer shoots a taser he generally has no knowledge of a target's pre-existing condition. Well trained and reliable officers are able to use the weapon judiciously with this possibility in mind and only in situations where it's use is warranted.
It appears to be a case of serious incompetence when you have at least two campus cops who cannot subdue or handle one unarmed student who goes limp without shooting him five times with a taser, I'm sure that good police officers all over the United States would agree. And none of these good police officers would respond to anyone in difficulty with your snub "go fly a kite".

Yes, and we ALL know how so many YOUNG, college-aged students have pace-makers....bad hearts...etc. and will DIE because they chose to believe rules aren't for them...just everyone other than them.
This is exactly the mind set I was referring to.....no matter the situation...they WILL and do put the blame either ALL or partially on the cops.

The police officers did exactly as they were trained. Until you really understand what a taser does, you shouldn't speak of them.

They also in 99% of the cases, don't know what kind of formal training that they may have had in martial arts or military training, thus making the taser the proper tool for the task at hand.

By now, I imagine most have seen the phone-camera vid of the UCLA campus cops tasering the student in the library?
Sadly, within 24 hours of the student's release from the pokey, he's already hired a lawyer, screaming lawsuit, etc, blah, blah...
This is the type of case that drives me crazy, since all he had to do was follow the cops orders & nothing would have escaleted -- instead, he decided to make a politicat point & all hell broke loose!
My personal opinion is that when a cop gives you an order, GOOD CITIZENS should do the followig:
1) FOLLOW THE ORDERS!!
2) If ya feel yer civil rights are being violated, complain AFTER the dust has settled through the proper channels...
3) DO NOT ARGUE WITH COPS!
The above is the ONLY policy that avoids the breakdown of a civil society...
As I've noted before, there's a time & place for everything...
Personally, I believe that the VAST MAJORITY of police are honest & dedicated civil servants doing an IMPOSSIBLE JOB that you couldn't pay me oooodles of moola to do...""
