Is there something about my previous post your didn't understand?? This thread is not here for the pair of you to take personal swipes at each other. Go back and refresh your memories re the original topic - USPS deliveries.
Knock it off - any more personal or religious digs from either of you will result in formal moderation.

Wow - I have a habit of starting stuff when I never intend it to be what it seems to turn out to be. My original post was meant to be directed at people who are Christians and take this "gift giving" to extremes. That was all - I never meant to step on anyone else's religion in the least! I'm so sorry, I strongly agree about this country being so diverse, and I do appreciate when other's step in so we may celebrate whatever we maybe celebrating.
I just think that we Christians sometimes forget why we celebrate Christmas, that's all I really meant, sorry to stir up so much trouble, I never meant to

A couple of corrections as we have a member of our family who works as a carrier for the USPS. Today carriers are paid double time, about $40.00 per hour. Carriers are discouraged but not forbidden to accept Christmas gifts and that includes the monetary gifts as well. It is recommended but not mandatory that gifts be not more than a value of $20.00. Our family member works in an affluent area and receives gifts of $50.00 and $100.00 and no, the postal inspectors are not standing by to check the carriers' pockets as they return from their routes.
Yes, there are many different religions practiced in the United States, but this is a Christian country. The vast majority of businesses are closed on Christmas Day and this day and Easter are the only religious holidays that are considered national holidays as well.
I agree with the original poster that we are carrrying this gift giving too far. We have all known well in advance when Christmas Day would be and packages should be mailed accordingly. I think everyone should take the day and spend it with their families an friends and count their blessings. I realize that hospitals, the police and the fire departments must remain operational, but the rest of the non essential businesses and that includes the post office, should take the day off. If someone's happiness depends on the arrival of a parcel, I think you need to rethink your values.

I was surprised this morning that I received a negative feedback for a item that did not make its destination for Christmas. It was shipped priority mail with DC on Dec 11th. I left the bidder a negative as well in defense, but there was no excuse that a priority package dident make it in that many days. The DC for the package still isnt showing up on their site. You break your back to get items out on time, and they spit on you and leave a negative. This is a thankless job.
