Yep, you're right, the minimum wage should be $28/hr.
Whackos chant the minimum wage mantra while parading images of starving foreigners or whatever fits their psyches.
The other image is Farmer Ted and his forty acres and a mule when farm subsidies are discussed. Except that the average "farm" in the US has hundreds of thousands of acres and Farmer Ted uses a helicopter to check the north forty. He takes his 0% interest "seed load" and puts it into stock for a few months.
It is vitally important in these matters to ignore the facts of the minimum wage and farm subsidies and think that somewhere, somehow amongst the billions of dollars SOMEBODY got aid. Wouldn't it be funny if any of our whack packers here ran their households in the same way they want the government run? Peepa could pay his stock boy $46/hr because he has 5 kids in college.
