I'll say it again, though some people have selective reading. Beside carbon offsets, he is renovating the old house he bought and is installing solar panels. The Gores participate in a program called Green Power Switch, which is run through the public Tennessee Valley Authority. Green Power Switch supplies energy from renewable sources to its members.

LOL.....what part don't you get about 'it doesn't MATTER WHO he buys his massive energy from....he's STILL wasting a lot for one family.
And as you also point out.....he has more than one home. So he's heating/cooling those ALSO. lol
---------------
"the pro-environment and pro-economy initiatives that President Bush advocated but were completely ignored by the environmentalists and the complicit media":
"I think it's an amusing double-standard. Gore gasses away about the environment while he and his friends use private jets to go from huge, air-conditioned home to home, and he is heaped with accolades and good press, while Bush says little about the environment but lives the green-creed at home and gets no press...unless it can be negative press."
"So, while you hear nothing at all about President Bush successfully gaining international co-operation for a green initiative that does not destroy economies like the Kyoto treaty, http://www.techcentralstation.com/080305E.html and you read nothing about how the president is committed to helping the restoration of ancient Iraqi Marshlands, http://nationalreview.com/script/printpage.p?ref=/impromptus/impromptus200601120830.asp you hear rather too much about all the preening and moralizing going on by Green Al Gore...except when he cancels interviews that might make him address...inconvenient dissent."
And as mentioned earlier....President Bush HAS LONG 'walked the walk'....not like al gore....ONLY talking the talk.
"Gore is an energy glutton."
Now compare this to President Bush's comparatively modest home in Crawford, Texas, which is a model of environmental friendliness:
The 4,000-square-foot house is a model of environmental rectitude
Geothermal heat pumps located in a central closet circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground where the temperature is a constant 67 degrees;
the water heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer.
Systems such as the one in this "eco-friendly" dwelling use about 25% of the electricity that traditional heating and cooling systems utilize.
A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof runs; wastewater from sinks, toilets and showers goes into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern.
The water from the cistern is used to irrigate the landscaping surrounding the four-bedroom home.
Plants and flowers native to the high prairie area blend the structure into the surrounding ecosystem.
No, this is not the home of some eccentrically wealthy eco-freak trying to shame his fellow citizens into following the pristineness of his self-righteous example.
And no, it is not the wilderness retreat of the Sierra Club or the Natural Resources Defense Council, a haven where tree-huggers plot political strategy.
This is President George W. Bush's "Texas White House" outside the small town of Crawford.
Keep in mind that this piece by Rob Sullivan was first published in the Chicago Tribune in 2001, so the fact that President Bush's home was ecology friendly was not unknown in the media. They just chose to ignore it while they heaped praise on Gore.

Well...4000 sq. ft might sound large to your average American...but when compared to the gore and edwards homes......they're like salt boxes. lol
Square footage of gores house - not mentioned. But with 20 ROOMS and 8 Bathrooms on the inside alone.....that's gotta be pretty darn big.

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization, issued a press release late Monday:
Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy.
In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh"more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh"guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year.
As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.
“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.
In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Imo, coincoach, from what I've read....he's no 'treehugger'.
What he IS is a more moderate man. Doesn't believe in destroying our economy by going so far to the 'wacko' left/the eco terrorists side. Rather doing what he can personally do to improve things....while working to keep our environment clean.
He has made great strides in our clear air quality.

Its called leading by EXAMPLE.
What dont you understand about that.
That would explain why Bush is the Commander in Chief. He did a great job leading troops in to battle so well they put him in charge.
Bush doesnt't mind having people fight in Iraq, that is why he signed up his two daughters to fight.
Nice way for Bush to lead by example.

The gullibility of American people is ASTOUNDING and the complicity of the press in this sleaze is shameful! How can anyone be so dam stupid and easily manipulated that they will believe every swift boating attempt that comes down the pike.
This sleaze was even reported in Germany but there they had the sense and integrity to recognize it as just another attempt to SMEAR. Shame on the U.S. media and the Democrats who fail to respond.

tell us helen, just how WELL the german economy is doing. lol
tell us where their unemployment rates are.
THEN you might better understand WHY the US, dems included, voted 90-0 to NOT pass the kyoto agreement.
They aren't as blind to what humans can change and what we can't. And how much change is needed to make ANY difference.
Look to Canada...they sure haven't met THEIR kyoto goals. Matter of fact...they now find themselves in the position of having made a HUGE INCREASE to their emissions.

Yes it is higher but do you know why?
However, by September 2005 overall unemployment had declined to 11.2%, or 4.65 million people. [b[Germany's national unemployment rate is only partially comparable to unemployment rates in the United Kingdom or United States, because it includes a significant share of part-timers, who work less than 15 hours a week. Everyone working less than 15 hours a week, who is seeking and available for a job with full social security insurance (normally full-time job or part-time above 15 hours a week), can be registered as unemployed. Around one quarter of Germany's national unemployment are underemployed part-timers.[/b]
A better base for international comparisons is the so called ILO unemployment rate, which is deduced from a monthly telephone survey and counts everyone who works at least one hour during the reference week as employed. That's the way many countries calculate their unemployment rates. Seasonally adjusted ILO unemployment for Germany was 7.9% in April 2006 (comparable unemployment for former West Germany is around 6.5%). Private sector employment in former West Germany as a percentage of the total population is higher than in the United Kingdom and not much below the United States or Canada. This is an indicator that - beside statistical differences - sluggish growth as a result of stagnating domestic demand, low public employment compared to other industrialised nations and the complete breakdown of the former socialist industries in former East Germany might be more important for the high official unemployment, than the often cited rigidities in the labour-market. A hint that the German labour-market is more flexible than often believed is, that Germany has no legal minimum wage, except in construction, but the government is considering introducing one.
Additionally the percentage of so called "long-term sick" in Germany is significantly lower than in the United Kingdom, Sweden or the United States, countries with very low official unemployment rates. Financial support for sickness in these countries normally lasts longer, is easier to reach or is higher than aid for unemployment. Experts believe that many of these "long-term sick" are in reality discouraged workers, who have no perspective in the job market. Most of these people in Germany are registered as unemployed, because unemployment aid is not limited in duration and being "sick" is not more lucrative. As a labour market performance index and for the actually situation on the German labour market, the German job index BA-X has been established in early 2007.
At the start of 2005, the seasonally adjusted number of registered unemployed persons initially showed another sharp increase. The considerable rise in the unemployment figures is largely due to the fact that former recipients of income support who now receive the new class-II unemployment benefit are registered as unemployed. This means that people who used to be numbered among the latent manpower reserve are now shown as registered unemployed persons. In particular, the labour-market statistics now include more unemployed young, older and low-skilled people. The unemployment rate peaked at 12.6% in March 2005, although it has gradually declined since then. Also, There are considerable regional differences in unemployment rates within Germany. The unemployment rate in eastern Germany, at 20.7%, is almost twice as high as the western figure of 10.4%
The German economy, the biggest in the 13-country Eurozone, boomed in the last months of 2006. The strong year-end performance caused the growth rate for the entire year to be revised upwards Tuesday.
The German economy surged to a strong finish in 2006, leading to a growth rate of 2.7 percent, according to the Federal Statistics Office.
DESPITE THE ABOVE GERMANY AND THE UK HAVE REDUCED ITS GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS BY 17% AND 14% RESPECTIVELY.

This garage about why their numbers would be different from ours, is just that, imo, garbage. We too count ALL who are looking for ANY jobs in our unemployment rates.
