Is there anything crazy or odd that you've sold? Something that made you say "I can't believe somebody really bid on it"? I had accumulated a whole lot of paperclips (over 3 pounds) and sold them on eBay. I'm getting ready to put out a whole bunch of Kool-Aid points that I found jammed in a container in the top of one of my kitchen cabinets. Mine aren't very strange, but how about you?

I sold an outdated can of Buffalo stew. Not antique or anything like that. Just outdated. Of course I advertised it wasn't fit for consumption.

It brought 3.00 if I remember correctly.

Pretty silly.

you won't believe it:
An old Dainty Maid douche and enema bag.
$200+!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually had an auction mentioned on the Howard Stren radio show for a similar item.
1100+ hits, but poor closing price.

I sold a box of 6 casino dice from the late 50s. The box was in such bad shape, that the person I bought them from had recently restored it with scotch tape (shame!). The dice were decomposing (common due to the material they are made from). They made a mess out of my scanner, and I had to describe their condition as very poor. They brought $371.

A year ago, we lucked into a ton of old HAM equipment. I sorted, sold almost all of it. Well, some items, I grouped together. One of the lots was a couple of boxes of some type. My husband knows radios pretty well, and had NO clue. We finally listed it as WHAT THE HECK ARE THESE? Talk about getting hits. and starting at $1, they ended up selling for $28. Still have no clue what it was. The bidder didn't either, but I suppose, his curiosity got him.

This is a cool thread!

I sold an old black and white(actually it had yellowed) photo from a program. It was of the LA THUNDERBIRDS roller derby team! I had everyone's autograph. This was from the early 60's.

There was a section I'd taped and it was yellowed and not clear like they are today.
Heck, I'd even signed it pretending to be part of the team.

I was going to throw it away..then I thought..maybe I'll list it!

2 people got in a bidding war and I got $100 and something for it! YIKES!

I asked the buyer if he was related to someone in the picture or an old fan? He said he wasn't related and just thought it'd be nice to have the photo and he was exceptionally pleased!

No one could believe what I got!

Carole

I sold all the joke stuff I received for my 50th birthday, including the dead plant. I listed it as "over the hill" group.

Got $10.35 for it and a lot of laughs. The person bought it for her hubbys 50th birthday this month.

Not the weirdest, but maybe the best, were 3 boxes of fantasy games I found under a table at a yard sale at $2 a box. I knew they were worth something but not nearly the $550 that the Dungeons and Dragons ones alone brought.

Maybe the weirdest was an old pin/brooch that was in my aunt's estate. It looked like it had been made out of a rooster claw! I put it under bizarre things and it did sell for around $6, I think.

An Oscar Meyer Weinermobile I bought for $5.00 and sold for over $200.

And then just last week some weird dental tool called an articulator I bought for $5.00 too and sold for over $200.

But the craziest thing I ever seen someone selling on ebay was cow patties !

I did see a seller selling thong panties which he said were worn by 3 monkeys !!!

One of the more unusual items was a "toy saxophone" I bought at Goodwill for $10. 'Turned out to be a Casio Midi Horn, a midi instrument with sax fingerings and breath control. Brought around $160 if I recall, about the original list price.

She wore them, and then I ebayed(I wonder if Webster's will consider this as a verb in their latest edition?)them. They sold to a guy in Oklahoma for 67.00....and he owned over 700 pairs!I bet that room has a "unique" smell to it.

A really horrible VHS tape from the '70's called REDNECK -- stars Telly Sevalas & Mark Lester (the star of "Oliver".

A truly awful Italian flick, poorly dubbed in English.

Bought it on eBay for $5.50: 10 days later, I sold it for $201.50!!

Can ya guess WHY????????

An old cast iron "break glass in case of fire" box. (The kind you'd see hanging on a wall in a hotel lobby.) The glass was broken and there was nothing inside but a switch and some cut off wires. I got it for a buck at the tail end of an auction when the auctioneer was begging "Won't somebody pleeeaaasssee give a dollar for this?" I figured what the heck--and sold it for $31!

A plastic Tupperware keychain, in the shape of a blue ribbon, which I'd received when I was a consultant.

I was such a new seller that I hadn't yet figured out how to do pictures, so I wrote a very detailed description, and started it at 99¢.

I thought it might go for 5.00 or so, based on what I'd seen of auctions for Tupperware keychains, but I witnessed my first bidding war, and that keychain closed at 26.00!

I found a barbie-sized doll with a case and it was full of clothing at a Thrift Store. I did some research on it when I got home and found out it was an original CHER doll with several pieces of her (doll) clothing and I believe 1 outfit was from a Sonny doll. Sold for almost $100.

I bought a mummified possum on ebay and then resold it a couple months later at a tidy profit. It was totally dried out and didn't smell at all. The lady who bought it was giving it to her son for Xmas!!!

Two large, extremely rusty iron clothes hangers I dug out of my dad's barn. They sold for $107.90. It seems they were some special Victorian-era hangers that women would hang their dresses on. My dad and I had no idea where they came from, I just listed them as a lark. He just about blew a sprocket when I showed them what they sold for. The lady who bought them was very happy with them.

The craziest thing I ever sold was some Royal Doulton piece. I have no interest in that sort of thing, I usually just sell clothing. Anyway, I find this tiny little thing at a tag sale for .50 cents, thought it was different so I bought it.

Anyway, it sat on my puter desk for a couple of weeks because I had no idea what it was. I would look on ebay under Royal Doulton but couldnt find anything like it. So, I finally just listed it as "Royal Doulton Thing". Sold the darn thing for a little over $200.00. I still think of that once in a while. Shake my head and try to figure out what exactly I sold.

I'll tell ya the strangest thing i ever bid on and won was a baculum windchime. A baculum is the penis bone of a mammal, they were dried and cleaned and then tied to a string hanging from the top which was made out of grapevines. Its a most unique conversation piece in my house.

The other neat thing I bought was some confetti that fell in New York's Timesquare for the year 2000.

I sold a handwritten letter from Ted Bundy to me when I used to be a journalist. I had written to him asking for an interview before he was executed, and he wrote back this long, LONG letter. It sold for about $400, I think. Had another one I sold later for the same amount. The second one went to a guy who owned a mortuary. Creepy.
