glassgrl: Thanks for that link. Looks like one of the top Pergo lines is the best, for laminates. Not sure at this point what flooring we'll use; that's down the line.
Lucy: Can't post pictures of the kitchen right now. We have to hold a funeral for our dishwasher! The trusted repairman came out and said it is definitely kaput. We know it's at least 8 years old, maybe older than that, and it has huge problems. So. . . now we start with the appliances. We'll get a white dishwasher this next week and gradually get the other appliances changed to white. We'll bury the dishwasher tomorrow and say a few words over it, I guess. Handwashing for another week, I see.
An interior designer friend who's helped us recently with some curtains and who has an advanced degree in bath and kitchen design is going to come out and assist us. We will NOT tear up the whole kitchen and tear out all the cupboards! They're fine, just need a couple of new cupboard doors.
We'll just need some advice on the order in which we make the kitchen improvements.

Ohmslucy,
This problem has been going on for months, sometimes I would do extra spinning to get the clothes spinned and dry enough for the dryer,so the suds must still be there.
I tried pouring water into the washer and it did automatically drained it,but I still see suds in the washing cycle even though I have nothing in the washer,no new detergent and not even any clothes.
I am going to get some white vinegar today and try again,if it fails, then I will be shopping for a new washer, this is too much, spend a whole day washing clothes.
thanks for your advice.

Cletusray, if you Google retro kitchen you'll come across lots of stuff. Armstrong has linoleum information on their website.
My kitchen was green, too. Walls, ceiling, cabinets were painted with pea green high gloss enamel. Like diving into a bowl of soup. The floor was horrible '60s green vinyl with an embossed pattern that was a screaming pain to keep clean. Just to get by I painted the floor with deck paint.
Adele, maybe your new dishwasher will have a reversible door panel. I had one once that could be switched to black, white or almond.
Hwahwa, sounds like you need Adele's trusted repairman!
