A toll road would be better maintained ???? Ya, right.
Oh, by the way, thank you linduh and etex for all that federal tax money coming to Minnesota to build a new bridge
See, there is NO such thing as a "free" highway....
#1 Yep, all over this great nation
#2 You are welcome
#3 Who said there was?? Interstates are paid by taxes but are "free" to drive on. (except in Oklahoma)
posted on August 3, 2007 08:10:00 AM newSame thing with the word 'runners'. Most Americans would think of a runner as a person who enjoys running...to improve their health. It would NOT be of tennis shoes.
Where I live we call the shoes we run in 'sneakers' or 'runners'. Tennis shoes aren't very good for serious running so I never call mine 'runners'.
Of course I am just speaking for myself as I always do and not for all of the people in Canada when I express this opinion.

I-35 from Canada to Mexico is the one where the bridge collapsed yesterday in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Yep,the very one. Maybe that toll road is needed. Hmmm??"""
I don't know about you but my taxes come out of my pocket and they pay for highways which I then don't consider "free".

Not that it really matters......
....... but today I talked with someone from England and that person spells it 'aluminium' and pronounces it 'al-yuh-min-ee-uhm', which is different from 'aluminum' which is most often said in Canada and the US.
Checked the chat board again where lindak copied this info and the fellow that posted it lives in the UK so no wonder she was confused with Canada. She sometimes confuses the two places like a few days ago when she said Clinton went to Canada during Vietnam when in reality he had gone to England.

Not that it matters........
........ it's only a bit of trivia because I was curious......
biffy
The term biffy is sometimes encountered in the context of U.S. Girl Scouting, and may have originated with the "BFI" logo of what was at one time Browning-Ferris Industries (now part of Allied Waste Industries), a waste collection company whose trade lines in some markets include the servicing of portable toilets. An alternate explanation: when backpackers prepare a cathole or trench latrine in their overnight campsite (even embellishing it with fresh-cut flowers), they call it the BIFF - Bathroom In Forest Floor. A backpacking group will carry a zip-lock bag with a trowel, toilet paper, and a lighter (to burn the used tissue); this bag is known as "the BIFF key".

aluminum is spelled and pronounced both ways, depending on region, but laboratory is the only correct way to spell that word in the English speaking language.
posted on August 4, 2007 12:34:24 PM newCC...some say the way we, here in America, pronounce it....sounds to them like we're talking about a toilet. lol
They may have a laboratory mixed up with a lavatory then.
posted on August 4, 2007 02:24:11 PM newThere kiara.....now you can bait CC.
Why would I wish to bait CC or anyone else here over anything, including you Linda_K, and especially over this?
I am in total agreement with CC about both spellings of aluminum and the correct spelling of laboratory and I pointed that out to you a couple of days ago already.
Linda, perhaps by coincidence the wives of the men that worked for your husband all originally came from the UK as they spell and pronounce 'aluminum' in a different way there than they do in Canada and the US.
Then again last evening.
today I talked with someone from England and that person spells it 'aluminium' and pronounces it 'al-yuh-min-ee-uhm', which is different from 'aluminum' which is most often said in Canada and the US.
I also noted that I personally hadn't heard it pronounced the other way but was only speaking for myself and not all Canadians because when I post here I don't represent all of Canada (so of course I wouldn't know how each and every person in Canada says it - in fact that's why I was asking others around me). I believe I said it at least three times but from your postings last evening you seemed to have missed that also.
Have you ever found anything to ever make you smile in your day? I do.

Linda_K, if you aren't trolling, are you on medication? Do you have someone that takes care of you?
If not, I believe you need some assistance and I'm saying this in a kind way because you sound like you're having a few problems comprehending others on most topics here, as if everything you read is being reversed in your mind when you try to digest it.
Or perhaps the assumptions that you've already made about others are so strong they rule your brain when you respond to their words and you fail to grasp what they have really said.
I hope you don't get angry that I ask because there is most likely help available.

Clinton Discussed Use of Nukes Last Year
By BETH FOUHY
The Associated Press
Thursday, August 9, 2007; 6:42 PM
Washington Post - in part
NEW YORK -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, who chastised rival Barack Obama for ruling out the use of nuclear weapons in the war on terror, did just that when asked about Iran a year ago.
"I would certainly take nuclear weapons off the table," she said in April 2006.
Her views expressed while she was gearing up for a presidential run stand in conflict with her comments this month regarding Obama, who faced heavy criticism from leaders of both parties, including Clinton, after saying it would be "a profound mistake" to deploy nuclear weapons in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
"There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table," he said.
Clinton, who has tried to cast her rival as too inexperienced for the job of commander in chief, said of Obama's stance on Pakistan: "I don't believe that any president should make any blanket statements with respect to the use or non-use of nuclear weapons."
But that's exactly what she did in an interview with Bloomberg Television in April 2006. The New York senator, a member of the Armed Services committee, was asked about reports that the Bush administration was considering military intervention _ possibly even a nuclear strike _ to prevent Iran from escalating its nuclear program.
"I have said publicly no option should be off the table, but I would certainly take nuclear weapons off the table," Clinton said. "This administration has been very willing to talk about using nuclear weapons in a way we haven't seen since the dawn of a nuclear age. I think that's a terrible mistake."

I believe sybil/mingo is projecting, once again.
Maybe HER actions in ALL the threads yesterday meant HER caregiver was absent. But then, no, that can't be it. As she OFTEN runs from thread to thread repeating her copy and pastes - DESPERATELY SEEKING ATTENTION.
Maybe she WANTS a caregiver of her own. But either way, she's projecting, once again. tsk tsk tsk

linduh, As she OFTEN runs from thread to thread and repeatedly posts new threads, (How many in the last day or two ??!!!), answering herself 2-4 times in a row, DESPERATELY SEEKING ATTENTION.
It's easy for twisted minds to not be able to see the difference between posting the SAME copy and post over and over and over in each and every thread....VS....posting different subjects in different threads to encourage conversations.
Not something a desperate, obsessed stalker would ever grasp. No doubt about that.

Yes and unlike some stupid American from Ar-kansas or is it Arkansas the people of Canada know that Canadian is not a language found in Canada.

"She is the one that is constantly comparing things in the US to Canada."
Usually about their rationed health care system that is FAILING it's citizens who actually NEED the medical help.
And is there some problem created for liberals when ANYTHING is compared to our own Nation? Does it bring up feelings of anxiety for them? LOL LOL LOL Does it bother them when I say I think WE'RE the GREATEST nation in the world? Sure appears to. tsk tsk tsk

You don't have to say it, what you post says enough about your views and hatred for Canada. You are constantly bringing up comparisons with Canada and knocking the way they do things, but never have a solution to fix the way things are done here in the US.

Of course Lindak is unable to supply the quote because she lied again, keeping her Liar_K name intact.

Knocking what they do? Is living in America where we do TONS of things differently than the mostly liberal Canada does, a terrible thing to do now? LOL LOL LOL
There are many ways most Nations do differently...for good reasons. That's why I CHOOSE to live in America and not Canada.
But again you LIE that I have never offered a solution....I have often posted mnay different alternatives that my side supports. I also have stated WHO those 'uninsured' people are...and why I, as a taxpayer, don't WANT to pay their way. But think they should pay their own way. AND I have said we already have programs for the truly POOR. IMO, those making $82,000 a year are NOT poor.
You just REFUSE to live in reality...so you make up LIES....more and more LIES about MY positions and MY actions.
