A quick question, Libra:
I'm assuming you have grandchildren eligible for duty in Iraq. Are they there? If so, might their duty be better served by securing our US ports (highly vulnerable to terrorists' threats), border control, rebuilding of New Orleans or reinforcing bridges, expanding the highway systems to accommodate the traffic of major cities if evacuation is needed? By sending all of our resources (and our childrens' resources) to a dubious war which cannot be won, how are we to protect ourselves when a real threat exists?

You know roadsmith you are sounding more like mingotree everyday. Take care of your self and don't worry your little head about me. I do just fine. I will and do what I please so find someone else to pick on.

Is that a dig, Libra? Is that a way to keep Roadsmith in line? What if I told you you sound EXACTLY like Linda? What psychological implications does that have?

A quick answer for you Pixiamom. Yes they are if they take 4 and 12 year olds.

In case you didn't know it every major city does have an evacuation route. If they don't they should have and should have been in place for years. 3 years after New Orleans, right, the citizens of that city should be the ones rebuilding instead of asking everyday for something. Last I heard we had Border Patrol and they were/are doing good and of course to reinforce bridges that were built wrong in the first place.

Yes it was a dig and you know Helen you can't keep anyone in line in here. When a thread is started it is hijacked probably 4-5 posts. Something I don't and shouldn't have to tell you about.

Libra, that's the second time in two days that you have called Kraftdinner by my name.

Actually, I'm flattered that you think I sound "EXACTLY like Kraftdinner"...but just thought I would let you know that KD and I are two different posters.

Damn, how I dislike someone who flaunts their Hawaiian vacation while the rest of us are left here to plow snow.

May the sunbeams burn your ass and add another wrinkle to your face!

Yup, thanks Helen. We haven't had a trip like this in 5 years, but friends who live in Hawaii invited us to stay, free lodging!, and we couldn't resist.

At my age, I'm not even bringing a swimsuit, my dear. All sprung out, and I didn't want to humiliate myself by trying some on in a store. Sigh.

I was thinking the same thing, Helen. Roadsmith is showing off big time.

I'm also feeling elated that Libra thinks you and I are the same person. One of the highest compliments I've ever received from Libra!

Have a GREAT trip, Roadsmith! Treat yourself to a new swimming suit in Hawaii - swimming is one joy I don't plan on ever giving up - although I gave up on bikinis some time ago. (Wait - I never did wear bikinis - oh well).

Libra, I am flabbergasted. I have tried to respond to your posts with thought and without ridicule, but your remark "3 years after New Orleans, right, the citizens of that city should be the ones rebuilding instead of asking everyday for something" shows the lowest form of patriotism and the highest form of selfishness.

Edited to add: with grandchildren that young, Libra, do you have any sons or daughters or in-laws in Iraq? I'm sure you had a lump in your throat when you posted your original comment. I had a similar lump in my throat and tears when I saw the names laboriously written in chalk of all the Oregon men and women killed in Iraq encircling my son's middle school - washed away by rain.

Pixiamom: With the post you made you assumed something you knew nothing about. I bet you were suprised about the ages of my grandchildren.
The ages of their parents are two old for the draft if they had it. Remember the armed forces are all volunteer. Would they go to war that is their decision not mine. Like my parents I don't tell my children what to do. I am sure you don't tell yours either but since I know nothing about you I won't speculate.

In your post you say. I'm assuming you have. That was your first mistake in addressing me in that post. You can't assume something you know nothing about so please don't assume anything else. I would never assume anything about your family.

My family is private and yours should be also.

Well pixiamom, have you read libra's charming post to you? At least she actually responded to it...she's too much a coward to respond to other posts.

How about her reasoning ability? First she tells you the ages of her grandbrats and then tells you ""My family is private and yours should be also.""

Have you read any of her other posts? Do they represent logical, sane thinking?

Do you now realize that picking on her spelling is being kind? There is so much worse to point out about this tightly wound, over-girdled, bone-headed old bat.

That coming from the queen of conjecture.

Libra, have you ever thought about taking your own advice before dishing it out to others? How come you always sound so crabby - are you in pain or something?

Libra, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. Now we know that you don't have children or grandchildren in Iraq - you want others to lose their children and Grandchildren for your silly war. You aren't even willing to lift a finger to help the victims of Katrina. What kind of patriotism or self-sacrifice is it that you preach?

Pixiamom. When you want a question answered ask the question. Don't beat around the bush. I would have told you outright. Now I know you are just pushing buttons and guess what the answers to your questions will now be unanswered. Keep asking if you want it will only give you nothng for an answer.

Last I looked it wasn't my war. Where ever did you get that Idea. Remember Hillary voted for this war in Iraq. Her vote is printed and in the record. It can't be changed. It is her war not mine. Now she is trying to say she wasn't for it. Who cohearsed her into voting for it. Nobody. Do you get that Nobody twisted her arm to vote for the war. The information was hers to question but instead she did vote for it and her vote stands no matter what she says. She is spining a web into trying to make the public think she is a fine upstanding person which in my estimation she is not. She has a history of trouble starting before Arkansas. Obama I don't know about so that makes voting for him easier. Yesterday was the Wisconsin Primary and I did vote for Obama over Hillary as I said I was going to do, and I am sure many others did also. To bad she lost

See profe I told you I was voting for Obama and my reason was so Hillary wouldn't win the Wisconsin Primary. I did my Patriotic duty.

Here you go again assuming something you know nothing about. You have no idea what I did for New Orleans. You go making asumptions you know nothing about. It is time that you quit doing that. Just like everyone else on this discussion board. Take care of your own life and forget about mine. Evidently yours need help mine doesn't. Mine is doing great.

So in other words Libra doesn't know if cities have an evactuation route.

First she says they do. Then in the next sentence she says if they don't they should. So which is it. Every city does have an evactuation route or they don't.

Libra, since when is it the Border Patrol's responsibility to reinforce bridges that were built wrong?

I was wondering the same thing. I thought the border patrol was responsible for preventing illegals from coming into the country.

Last I looked it wasn't my war.

A great way to wash your hands of what is going on in Iraq. You are right you didn't vote for war, neither did any other ordinary American citizen. What a stupid way to look at the war. I suppose with that attitude you can still say you support the troops and the war.

Gotta love it how Libra likes to blame Hillary for voting one way and now saying that Hillary is wrong for criticizing the war. I don't see Libra putting any blame on Bush for giving the US Congress misleading information, presenting over 20 different rationales for going to war and then being dead wrong on the majority of those reasons.
