Franko ...... Yes you're correct, they are bigger pics, but not twice as large.
I only run 25 auctions or so a week, so My Gallery is best for my situation.

As a seller & buyer, I would imagine if someone wanted to bookmark my auctions, they already would be, and some indeed are. I don't need to send them links via email, nor would I imagine they would appreciate it.

Most of them are pretty savvy buyers.

BTW - 25 pics on My Gallery take less than 3 secs to load for me, at least the ones coming through the AW servers. The Auctiva pages that I viewed seemed to take forever to come up. [and I have cable] I also don't think that having to close a window in your task bar to get back to where you were, is a very good idea.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Yes, you are missing something. I don't pay eBay for Gallery images, nor do I pay My Auction Gallery. But it looks like the owner is now attempting to get some $$$ to keep his site up & running. I'd be happy to pay him the $5 a month for 100 images, but he wants PayPal, which I don't/won't use.

Hi RedDeer:

My comment was directed at the people that pay Honesty twenty-five cents for their gallery services.

What is your opinion regarding the importance of a thumbprint image on eBay's search pages? This is not possible using an outside gallery. I'm wondering if the actually Gallery page is most important, or the images within the search pages.

Thanks!
MTown

Myself, I seldom use the eBay Gallery option, but I think it's a good idea to have a link on your auctions where buyers can have a quick look-see at the rest of your items.

Hi guys/gals. Concerning the speed of the images loading, right now I'm running few auctions but around the holidays I was averaging 75-95 at any given time and I did not feel they were slow. Still faster than an ebay gallery page and the images were loading row by row so you didn't have to wait for all 75+ to load before you could look at them. I felt they loaded at a speed that my eyes could comfortably keep up with. I do have a 56K modem, but my computer is four years old (and that's pretty old for a computer). I imagine a lot of people out there have much faster lines than I do.

Hello,
I was so impressed with reddeer and jayadiaz' My gallery but lost interest when it seemed you could only list 25 items at a time (at least that was the way I was reading it). I emailed Steve at MY GALLERY and he was quick to respond and so helpful and friendly. You can have up to 600 at a time he said but you need to "Load" them 25 at a time. He made a gallery page for me and I was impressed. I put it on a few auctions I listed last night and will watch the hits.

reddeer, the problem you were having with my gallery page is a glitch honesty is having with netscape. I emailed them and they too could not get it too come up! Thanks for pointing this out.

******I must complement those writing & responding to this thread. It is one of the most interesting and informative threads I have read in a LONG TIME on either the eBay Forum or the Yahoo Forum.......since 99% of the threads are endless griping and complaints. This is wonderful and I'd like to see more unique, instructional threads like this.

Reddeer, everyone keeps talking about how nice your "ME" page, and Gallery are, and I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I am going to the eBay Search for Reddeer, and I can't find a Reddeer except a newbie with no auctions.

HELP! I feel left out, I want to see too...somebody tell me how to view one of Reddeer's auctions!

Regarding Gallery comparisons, I think I'm going to give My Gallery a try today.

Does anyone know if here is a program within either the ULead programs or the latest FrontPage, which will do an automatic Gallery that one could use to create galleries to put on auctions, which the sites such as "My Gallery," Honesty and such don't service?

I know how to construct a gallery from "scratch" but I don't think that is time productive, and I feel there must be an automated program which will do this, I am just not sure who has it.

Thanks!

THANKS so much for the proper ID for Reddeer - what a fascinating "ME" page....oh now I wish I had kept pictures of some of the wild things we have sold over the years - most prior to the wide use of digital cameras. I guess one of the most unique items we ever sold on eBay was a coffee table, authenticated, made from the burned out beams of West Minister Abbey, after the W.W.II bombing by the Germans.

Oh well, thanks again for the links, really helps to see how other's are doing things.

Thanks for the kind words, and no offense, but could you please "edit" my eBay ID off your last post?

Long story, thanks.

Thanks, I left my user ID yesterday long enough [I thought?] for those interested to have a quick look. I'd rather it wasn't posted here on AW as a permanent record.

I too have tossed many pics of some very rare items that I wish I had hung onto over the past 3 yrs. One day while cleaning off my HD I decided to save "some" of the more recent items I've sold & make a "gallery" of sorts on my ME page.

I think it helps instil confidence to buyers of higher end items, some of which can be very expensive, and also very tricky to pack & ship.

Once the feedback link is dead on the feedback pages, a potential bidder has no way of knowing whether the feedback left was for a $2 item, or a $2,000 item.

To me, as a buyer, it makes a BIG difference.

Sorry I missed the ID yesterday, but glad it was reposted today. I certainly do understand why you wouldn't want it posted all the time.

Oh, I know what you mean by wishing you had pictures of all the unique and neat things one has sold in the past. Back in the stone age, when I was still using a Polaroid camera and scanning in the pictures, we had so many weird and neat pieces, but there were just too many to keep, and certainly since the digital age, there have been way too many pictures to retain.

I recall a marvelous and bawdy lamp we purchase for sale which was suppose to be from a New Orleans bordello; an 1800's sewing machine with inlaid gold angels, but alas, few pictures have we saved, but I do agree that it is a good idea and I think from now on when we have such unique items, I'll keep them on disk for posterity! I do thank you for this idea.

Again, you have a lovely "Me" page, and a fine looking gallery.

Well I am off to test out “My Gallery.”

Thanks! Being the pack rat that I am, some of those images on my ME page are back from when I was using a 35 mm camera. I simply took digital pics, of the old pics.

Unfortunately some of my better items were on floppies, which of course I reused. Bummer.

Oh well, glad I saved some of them.

Good luck with your Gallery!

I had to come in this morning and tell you what an OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE I had with Steve, the founder/owner/creator of MY AUCTION GALLERY.

I checked out the site yesterday because of the comparisons of such sites I read about here. I determined to test “My Auction Gallery.” After arriving at the site I realized that because of our unique set up, I might not be able to use their program. Our “unique set up”, means that we use graphics in our ads, PLUS, we have our photographs stored across 4 ISP accounts, and 2 web sites. I personally wrote Steve and asked was there any way I could use “My Auction Gallery” with the way our photos were spread all over creation.

He thoroughly took the time to view some of my auctions, and took the time to think through how I could make my pictures available to “My Auction Gallery” without having to move them off their various sites. I was amazed at the time and thought he put into my special situation.

I had to come here and complement this outstanding man, and his fantastic site and service. This is customer service to the max! THANKS, STEVE!

Another thanks to Steve. I signed up one day and they had me all set up and ready to go the next. All I have to do is remember that the first picture I put in is the one which goes in the gallery so I have to write my ads a little different and of course, now I have to learn how to put the logo up higher. All in all it looks good to me and I like directing people to my gallery.

Go V A N N I L L A Feb 1st!
