S'cuse me while I butt in on you two bludgeoning each other.

Helen - I was directed to this thread by another poster since I'm a moderator at TF. I haven't checked on this place in a very long time before this morning. However, one look at the topics (and amount of posts) tell the story of the wasteland that the RT has become.

Mango - no worries dear, this little sandbox is all yours. You and the other children can frolic in it to your heart's delight. My post in this thread is merely to let you children know that your little immature games (as detailed so nicely in this thread) won't fly anywhere but here.

Now please, by all means, continue one-upping yourselves over who's the bigger hater.

They actually have moderators over there who take all this so seriously they get the urge to come over here to throw little hissy fits when they see a few people having some fun? WoW! Sounds like a big important job to take care of.

Guess it must be another slow summer on the boards.

Kiara, I couldn't agree with you more. It is hypocritical of fiset to be getting all bent out of shape when Helen suggested MINGO possibly cause some trouble with Linda on the other board, when fiset was directed here in the same kind of manner.

If she is so concerned about the number of posts and topics she should stay at the TF where Linda will keep her quite busy with all her "what if" and "what do you think" posts.

Helen, you are lying....you forgot that there's a search feature here that would prove all your long insane rambling back and forth posts with linduh....you have done this before where you insist you've never had a fight with linduh and maybe now that some of the older posters are gone you think it'll be forgotten....and maybe it will...but the truth can always be dug up again.

I really don't understand your purpose in trying so pathetically to make it look like I was the only one with a problem with linduh...maybe you're just as sick as she is?????

You lie as well as she ever did...what IS wrong with you????

logansdad, I believe you may have mischaracterized the suggestion made by Profe and I when you suggest that we intended to cause "trouble"... unless you see an encounter between Mingo and Linda as "trouble".

Your point that fiset, a member of this board was directed here is a good possibility.

What a silly hissy fit over nothing. I agree, Kiara.

Mingo, It does not follow that since I responded to Linda's off the wall comments and lies about me that it was an enjoyable activity.

I never completely ignore a poster no matter how obnoxious their comment may be.

As I said on the previous page, if I enjoyed posting with Linda, I would join Hep's board. But I do not.

Perhaps trouble is the wrong word, but I do not see any good coming of it unless it would result in someone being permanently suspended - and I am not referring to Mingo

Who really cares enough about what happens on this board to tattle to the moderator over there? SWMNBN? She was always a tattletale and maybe she was afraid Mingo would show up and pop her cork again.

Kiara and Logansdad

Squirrel writes, "The left likes to make up their own cute little phrases, like "illegal" war, funded by Congress, etc. In is then not unusual to revere the personal theories of the world espoused by some wacky socialist."

Read George Lakoff's books and you will find that Republicans use frames such as Logansdad pointed out to you as a very effective propaganda technique. George Lakoff has written several good books on the topic. Don't think of an Elephant is a good one and also Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think.

Thinking Points by Lakoff is available on the web and can be downloaded here.

Whatever happened to squirrel refuting my posts. I wonder if she is about the USS Nimitz taking down the Mission Accomplished banner.

Kiara, fiset reminded me of Libra when she came back to this board for a while. She was here a few days and basically started the same mantra as fiset - this board is dead blah blah. If you dont like the way this board operates then go someplace else. It is not my fault all the neocons got themselves booted off.

From the White House

Just a month after his speech on the U.S.S. Lincoln, he also spoke to troops in Qatar: “America sent you on a mission to remove a grave threat and to liberate an oppressed people, and that mission has been accomplished.”

Now, they try to convince the world that the war is over...probably in order to begin a new one.

Howdy all.

I have a question I need to ask and this seems like a good enough thread to ask it in. Whatever happened to Fenix03? Last I heard she was in bad need of an operation. Did she ever get it? Is she ok?

Hi, Pi,

I think that Fenix became tired of butting heads against a few brick walls here and later became disenchanted with OTWA and Dr. Arcane's old board also. Like you, the last I heard from Fenix was the fact that she needed surgical removal of a large tumor which was not covered by health insurance and therefore only affordable to the very poor or very wealthy in this country.

I suspect that now she is well and happy somewhere, enthusiastically multitasking a myriad of other projects.

I hope you're right, Helen and that she did get her operation. Talking with her at Arcane's old board, back then, she was worried about how to pay for it. She was always seeking information of different procedures and payment options but then I lost contact with her and I never heard how it all turned out.

I picture her sitting healthy on a beach somewhere sipping those funny drinks with little paper umbrella's in the glass.

An interesting thread, one which i caught up on late due to pressing family issues. A number of folks have come out of the woodwork, a few old posters, some new - many old friends did not comment. There has been the usual back-patting on the board as well as some dissension. I am considering most responses in an evaluation as to their possible validity, an introspection as to what I have contributed to or detracted from the usefulness the round table holds in the future. I suggest that we be more open to exploring new poster's postings instead of shutting them out. Let's put Linda in the past and not associate her with other posters. I, too, am concerned about what happened to Fenix.

Pixiamom, few threads require such recapitulation, especially this one. What is your point? If you have a question about the "validity" of comments here, why not identify those posts and give those whose comments you question a chance to respond. Otherwise, everyone is under the umbrella of your spurious dispersion.

In response to your "introspective" question as to what you have "contributed to or detracted from" this board, I would say that like everyone here, you have done the best that you could with your allotment of time, energy and knowledge.

But I resent the fact that you continue to insinuate that we are an inconsiderate group who without cause fails to consider comments of new members.

Please tell me, who, on this public board, has been "shut out"?

I wish Fenix well, wherever she may be.

I suggest that we be more open to exploring new poster's postings instead of shutting them out.

Pixiamom, each time I read your comments insinuating that new posters are being shut out and not given a chance I would also like to see an example of where anyone is being shut out. Please show examples of YOU exploring "new poster's postings".

When I see someone who only pops in to diss the RT or target another poster it's not worthwhile for me to toss out a welcome greeting but if you or anyone else wishes to, that's fine by me.

You seem to be over-analyzing this board as well as those of us who choose to post and I get the feeling that you wish this board to flow a certain way with a select group of posters contributing content that you approve of, so we are under your constant scrutiny to perform in a certain manner that pleases you. Maybe in a perfect world the RT would be populated by those with enlightening comments and topics each day.

Kiara, have you ever posted a comment that was not supportive of Helen? For that matter, has Helen ever posted a comment not supportive of Profe? I consider Profe the true thinker of the RT group and the rest as the enforcers who will not tolerate any dissension or alternative topics. Look at past postings and see how many posters who have made the RT interesting and have been left by the wayside. If you want a group of 4 who let Profe do their thinking and nod in blind approval, you are close to getting it.

Edited to add: I also find Profe's postings informative and do not blame him for the excess Helen and others have bestowed on him.

Pixiamom, I not only admire and usually agree with Profe but I admire and usually agree with several other posters here including Kiara. The list is long and really impressive from my viewpoint beginning years before you first posted here.

Frankly, you sound like a jealous child, pining for the attention and admiration that such posters maintain. You couch your jealousy in some vague concern for unidentified members that you claim have been "left by the wayside". Yet when you are asked to state who has been "shut out" or who has been "left by the wayside" you have no response.

Could that someone be you?

Pixiamom, yesterday I voiced my own opinion directed to you based on the same complaints that you've had about the RT and your fellow posters for months now. Yes, it looks as if Helen views you in a similar fashion so I suppose I should shut up and not say what I think?

Kiara, have you ever posted a comment that was not supportive of Helen?

I've recently commented on a variety of topics including how the oil prices have affected my life, Obama's trip to Germany, ancient cures for corns even though I've never had any, questioned Profe on his breeds of sheep because of my interest in knitting, as well as questioning whether my grammar is correct when using a certain word. Where do you see me supporting Helen in those topics?

If I don't comment on a topic, such as the ones you start about your problems in raising your son, perhaps it's because I have nothing to contribute or perhaps it's because I know when it's best to keep my opinions to myself.

Look at past postings and see how many posters who have made the RT interesting and have been left by the wayside.

The same thing could be said about the EO if anyone compares it to the activity there years ago as it now looks like a vast wasteland barely creeping along. I wouldn't say that anyone was "left by the wayside", I believe they chose to move on and become involved in other activities as I have.

You keep blaming others because few here meet your expectations of how you wish the RT to be. Perhaps it's time for you to search out another forum that does meet your needs or perhaps you could start a recruitment drive for new members that share your interests and post in a manner acceptable to you.

Pixiamom, Since you consider Profe the only "true thinker" here, maybe you should consider his comment to you more carefully. You too can use your lil' noggin!

Profe51 posted...

"Who says the posts of EO people aren't accepted here? Who didn't accept Bill K's post? It was posted, and some responded to it. That's what happens here. It would be nice to see more people posting here, but EO posters who post here need to understand that this isn't the EO, and they may be questioned or challenged about what they write. We disagree here all the time and question each other. That's why most of us stop by. If you're suggesting that EO posters need to be handled with some sort of special consideration, well that's just silly, and it does a disservice to those posters by suggesting that they can't hold their own in this environment."

And just for the record Pixiamom, Helen and I have butted heads here in the past a few times. While I don't have her search savvy and can't give you a link, I remember one thread on education years ago that got pretty personal. I think I may have called her arrogant and she called me a moron or a knucklehead or an idiot or something. More recently, you will see disagreement between us on the RIP Tim Russert thread, although after reading the information she posted about him I'm more inclined to be skeptical.

I remember several too, Profe but only a couple worthy of mention. I can't name a single poster that I haven't disagreed with at one time or another. If we all tippy toed around each other like pixiamom thinks we should there would be no honest discussion or fun here.

Let's see...In the disagreement about education, you told me to wise up.

I told you to go drink another Guiness.

You told me that you were on your second and that my posts were looking better all the time.

Looking back it's funny because in desperation I finally wished that you would drink a SIX pack of Guinness and then fall off your pedestal or porch (whichever was highest) in order to cause the most pain when your big head hit the floor!!!

LOL!

Lawsuit To Force High School To Graduate I think it's on the second page.

Pixiamom, you're trying to "disease our mirth".

And, a more serious disagreement occurred in 2002 when I retracted a comment in which I had expressed a belief that I sensed some prejudice toward Mexicans who are exploited and work for low wages in this country. I regret that I retracted that comment because I realize now that I was right in the first place and should have supported Profe's position.

Why don't nosey old busy bodies like her and fiset just stay out of here???
Have they got some disease that FORCES them to post in a place they don't like??

Quit defending yourselves to her!

As to her :""I am considering most responses in an evaluation as to their possible validity""

My, my, however shall we BREATHE til we find out if pixie has put her valuable stamp of approval on the posts here!!!

Pixie, evaluate THIS

!

(pretend that's a single finger)

Anyway since you're all dying to know...I've had a lovely summer (except for that little tornado thingy that went through the yard).

I've found a political forum and am having simply grand fights with those stupid republicans...""ooooh ya know he's a Muslim terrorist..his middle name's Hussein!""

So? Who DO you think will be our next president? of course I'll vote for Obama but ya know...this stupid country voted for bushCo TWICE and so many people want to CONTINUE with this downward spiral that if the Democrats don't buy out Diebold...welll, the nasty old senile senator who calls his wife the C word may win!!!

Hi Mingo. I think McCain's done. His campaign has become completely reactive, waiting for Obama to do something, anything he can be mean about. Sure sign of death. I've a feeling Republicans are going to stay home in droves this fall...

Jonathan Alter has a good piece on him in Newsweek.
