OMG! Poor "Fred."
I haven't had any huge diappointments on eBay, but I've mostly stopped buying clothing there because I'm usually a little disappointed when something arrives. It seems like some people sell clothing that would be better off going to Goodwill, or in the trash. Really faded or with lots of pilling not mentioned in the listing. I once bought some shorts described as being in "excellent" condition which had a hole forming in the butt area. Then again, I've had a couple of great clothing purchases, too, so can't write *all* clothing sellers off.

I had been looking for a gold/cz watch for awhile. I am very particular on watch faces & style and was thrilled to finally come across exactly what I wanted. It was described as gold-filled by a seller who sold lots of jewelry, so I felt pretty safe and won the bid at around $32. When I received the watch, it was obvious that it was gold-tone, not even gold-plated! I asked for $7 back since $25 was the most I would have paid for it at a local gem show. He said no so I returned it for a refund (including shipping since his description was not accurate.)
When he relisted the item correctly, I went in with another ID and was the only bidder and won it for $10. Had he negotiated with me in the first place, he could have saved himself the original return shipping and made an extra $15 on the watch itself.
I've been fortunate that 99% of the items I've purchased off eBay have been great and those that haven't have been cheerfully refunded. Like any other venue, you get what you pay for and it pays to shop around and ask questions before bidding.

The widget with so much cigarette smoke smell coming out of the package it smelled like someone exhaling a cigar into my face.
Oh and the ash on the widget and packaging.
I imagine the seller couldn't even dowse her cig long enough to pack. Sigh.
Took me weeks to air it out. And it wasn't cloth either!
Last evening was a bit hectic around here, so your post was missed. You cannot post links to auctions or auction I.D.'s and by extension, that ruling would also include Auction Numbers. I had to delete your post. If you would like to re-post and discuss your purchases in a general way, that would work!
