Hi, Copperqueen:
Unless I am way off the mark here, Jerry12 is a well known, and well liked jokester poster, so few people are taking his comment seriously.
My best find today was a First Edition hardcover of the Edith Head biography called "The Dress Doctor," signed by Edith Head and her cowriter as well. Paid .69 cents for it. Doing the happy dance when I saw what it can garner on ebay!

Whoops, sorry jerry12, I thought you were an unscrupulous cad, but a search through your previous posts has enlightened me.
Maybe you know Andy...

I found 80 Richie Rich comics from 1978-1982 for only $3 total.
Found lots of books, paid $12 total, and after figuring which ones are worth selling, I paid $0.59 each for those that are worth selling.
Found 20 Little Golden Books & Record items from the 1970's. Only paid $8 for them all, could probably sell them for almost $5 each I think maybe...
Found an old book from 1924.
Found a talking Mickey Mouse doll for $6 from the '80s I think???
Found some Garfield McDonald's mugs for $0.25 each.
And some more stuff I can't remember.
I did see a West Bend Poppery thing (for popping pop corn) from 1976 I think for $2. I had the original instructions and box with it, all looked very good. I couldn't find one of these on eBay, only newer ones. Any idea what this would have sold for? (I've heard that old appliances can be worth some money if still in the box.)

I got 5 plastic forks for a dollar each, one has a broken tine, but I think they'll last me for dinner for a few weeks.
I got a broken mirror for 3 dollars, has what looks like a real old sticker on the bottom, says Made In China.
Got a neat deck of playing cards, all 44 of them! A steal at 5 bucks!
My best find, though: A brand new dollar bill right from the bank the person said, must be the nicest condition I've ever seen! And it only cost me $10!!

Yesterday I noticed a stack of boxes in the corner of the supermarket with a small hand written sign that said 75% off all easter candy. Beneath that it said an additional 75% off the sale price. I took several boxes to the counter and I was charged 30 cents for each family size bag and for each 6 pack of Hershey's and Nestle's candy. The clerk who knows me asked if I was leaving anything for anyone else.
When I told my wife what I paid, she said, "And that's all you bought? It's summer. The kids will be taking stuff to camp and their friends will be coming here in the afternoon and all our relatives with kids will be visiting, let's get more."
So I went back and took another two shopping bags full (for $7). The clerk said, "You can't come back before my break, I didnt get a chance to take any yet." I assured her that there was plenty left. Suddenly my wife shows up and says, "That's all you took?"
She goes to the back and comes back staggering under the weight of a few cartons. She had found these plastic eggs that each hold 2 ounces of M&Ms or Hersheys kisses. They were ten cents each.
Three clerks started screaming that there had to be a limit. The security guard came over to find out what was going on. We assured the clerks that there was still plenty left.
We walked out with several cartons of candy. My wife's total was $10.15. The receipt said we had saved over $400 on our order.
The guy behind us in line, stopped to grab about 5 candy bars off the shelf. He paid 50 cents each. I said, "Want to see what you can get for 50 cents just down the aisle?" and showed him my haul. He just shrugged his shoulders and paid for his candy.
I wish I had a friend or relative with a candy store. We could have stocked his shelves for a while. This had better last until the post-Haloween sale.
Too bad I can't sell it on ebay.
I wish we all could come treasure hunting with you. It seems that you have a real knack for finding great deals from what you've said.
yisgood,
I also enjoy getting super deals at my local grocery stores. I love coupons, rebates, clearance sales, etc. When I moved here a year ago, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I found out my grocery store doubles a $1.00 face value coupon to a $2.00 value. Free toothpaste, frozen dinners, pasta, condiments, etc.
Wow, this has been a very entertaining thread! Maybe we could have a regular bragfest here every week?!

copperqueen - That's why I intimated an unhappy end for jerry12 and mentioned about a troll - that's what you call that kind of post - trolling for a big reaction from people.

Saturday started off awfully slow ("offally slow?" none of the sales I had laid out on my morning route turned out well, but finally I stumbled across one that did. Found a fine old 5-tube am radio that looks like it might have belonged to Fred Flintstone, with a neat streamline design covered in faux stone for five bucks - and when I got it home, it worked! It'll be on Ebay just as soon as I get tired of looking at it.
Bought a box of electronic miscellany for another fiver because it had a couple of ac-dc power converters I thought I could use, but it turned out also to have three working belt-size radios, all with earphones, one of which has awesome sound, three working calculators including a TI Business Calculator, four power supplies, one of which I used right away, a bunch of useful cables and a mouse. And everything that needed a battery had good ones! That's five bucks worth of batteries, at least.
I guess I've been trolled, then? What threw me was that no one laughed, just ignored what he said and kept posting. I figured they were waiting for you or Spaz to come in for the attack. When you guys didn't show, I pounced!
Actually, I thought it was pretty funny once I found out he wasn't for real.

Not much here, seems like different house, same old junk. The best I've found lately was the board game "Which Witch" for a quarter. It wasn't complete but I still ended up with $16 for it.

I just want to know where you all went to garage sales. I went this past weekend and didn't find anything. Started asking the people holding the sales and apparently the dealers in this area are going by their houses the night before the sale and asking them if they can look through the items. One lady said she told them no - but she had advertised a start time of 7 a.m. and the dealers were knocking on her door at 5:00 a.m.
Not sure what to do as I use to go to these to purchase little items to fill in among the antiques and collectibles we sell.
So just where do you guys go? Anybody in Louisiana???
