Right you are. Last time I checked [quite some time back] on the category pages, only the Cdn funds were shown.
To be quite honest with you, I have no idea why the eBay Canada site even exists? The country specific search feature is all the buyers needed, and I doubt like hell any Canadian sellers "Ship To Canada Only".
Just something else to dumb down for their users I guess?
I could care less what they do on eBay Canada, my biz is geared for the US buyers.
After reading the rest of the crap on this thread, I'm kinda sorry I even popped in here.

I would seriously think twice about bidding on auctions from several people in here. I don't care how well you treat customers. It is obvious that some people posting to this thread are very defensive and short-tempered. If a person isn't giving you something, the don't deserve respect???

"you do admit that you post feedback the day that payment is received. Then I don't think that it is necessary to also e-mail as the buyer ..."
That doesn't work for me. I am still one of those people who doesn't pay any attention to my feedback. If a seller can take the time to post a feedback, I would think it would be just as easy to send an email.
If I had my preferences: ladyfargo - don't bother with any feedback - just let me know that you got my dough and when you send the item.

Just wanted to add. The reason I want to know when Item is shipped all sellers do not state when they are shipping in their adds. also I have waited 2 or 3 days after auction has ended before getting relpy to my email that I was the winning bidder and would appreciate all the particulars on shipping costs, etc, Including when they may be shipping.I do not think that is too much to ask. For honest answers and a prompt reply. As a seller or buyer I expect no less.I DO THE SAME FOR THEM. I think feedback should be left as soon as buyer pays. If they have been prompt with their payments. I leave their feedback as soon as payment is made .

Thanks, Joice! I was about to email the moderators on that one!
BTW, since the post was supposed to be an insult directed specifically at me, I feel bound to point out how silly it was since I don't have a wife. I have a husband.
Just goes to show that by making an assumption that isn't even accurate, it only makes the person throwing the insults look even worse.

Here's another stupid request I get, "I noticed my check has cleared, have you sent the item out yet?"
You have noticed the check has cleared, but I haven't noticed becuase my calender is filled packaging, mailing and all the other duties involved, and calling the bank daily to see if an $8 check has cleared doesn't rate high on my list of do's.

I'm real confused. I thought this was a public forum where people were allowed to speak. Apparently, the only stupid request from a buyer one is allowed to mention, is the one that EVERYONE else agrees on. If I don't think that it is a stupid request, then You are stupid for mentioning it?????
Why is everybody so nasty?? We are all in this together. We are all sellers on Ebay, and we all (for the most part) have to deal with various buyers who have various hang-ups. Some hang-ups are easier for some people to deal with than others. There is really no reason to be so mean!!!!! If I don't think the question 'have you sent it yet" is stupid, then so be it, that doens't give me the right to insult the person who does.
Quite honestly, this sounds like a bunch of junior high girls, hurling insults at one another.

Ladyfargo...
Well I guess I win on the fastest turnaround time.Last week I handed an item to the buyer when the auction was over and he payed me.And I have shipped items 12 times before the bidder payed me.Guess I got ya beat on that one!

Honey, I list around 200 items weekly. I seriously doubt you do that much business, so keep a lid on it.
That post is rude.
I don't know what kind of business you do, but crikey, why bother to post such balderdash?
I do fewer auctions, but unless you clear over $300 per auction, then it's pretty meaningless to me.
I get more repeats the more I sell. I also find that the cost of an email or two does a lot more to assure a happy customer than a cavalier attitude about bidders.
All customers spend as much time as a seller getting to know shipping, fees, costs etc. Of course! Naturally all customers know every answer that your clear copy would relate. Naturally!
If it's such a bother to tell a person how much insurance is, why not include it on your auction?
God forbid a customer is human. Sure there are freaks. But why make enemies out of potential customers? If those kind of simple questions are bugging you, perish the though a person has a legitimate gripe.
Nothing like a surly seller turn people off ebay entirely. To be honest, I have met more nice folks on ebay than I hear of here.
Unless you are a "turn 'em and burn 'em" kind of seller, then your philosophy, and therefore your posts are completely valid.
I don't know why sellers are so blind on this point.
A $50 item can turn into a $600 sale down the road.

I rarely have this request because I ship everything the day of or the day after I am paid. They usually have their item before they get around to asking for it. The few times I have had people ask before I have shipped, I have done it, but generally I don't. I don't think it's rude for a person to ask, though. Some need more notice than others for reasons that have already been mentioned (unreliable mailpeople, etc.) Other buyers are just of that emotional turn of mind and need that extra hand holding to make them think they are dealing with someone they can trust. I don't mind, because I figure at least I just sell to them, I don't have to live with them...thank Gods....whateveh they want (short of things that are fattening, illegal or cost me excess money) I will attempt to do. When I get fed up I dish with my aunt (another ebay seller) about our wacky buyers and their BS (and also about the ones we like.) Basically even if they're stupid they are still the customer and they pay my bill$ so I can put up with their various little antics while i have to.....

RB, I thought you were suspended for demeaning and rude postings. Well, I hope AW suspends you this time because you have been warned before.
I never asked for sympathy. I'm entitled to run my business as efficiently as possible. Buyers just look out for themselves, while sellers have to do the best for the buyers as well as for themselves. Sellers profits should come before service, because without profits you won't be around to provide service! Duh, I thought you knew that!
posted on May 16, 2001 12:52:04 PM
RB, by the way, what money are you counting? I'm sure you previously posted in another thread your sales are poor and you have left ebay!

If buyers frequently ask for info you are not providing....maybe you should provide it. I want happy customers, not just the $$$. The software I use, Auc.Trakker, makes it easy for me to send off a notice when I've received a payment, and when I ship it the item. It's easy for me to do, and lots of folks like it.
** my un-favorite customer thing:
- receiving a check (only) in the mail, with no mention of what they bought, what ebay or email address is theirs....And this customer is of course one who has not responded at all to EOA notices, etc. I'm psychic????

But without good service, where are the profits? If you have no service, how can you expect to make any sales?

Moderator, Moderator ... queeksdraw is taunting me again
1. I was never moderated off this board, nor have I ever been suspended. I left for awhile when all the furor about AW fees was happening and the moderators were running around deleting posts and trying to keep up with things.
2. I do not do demeaning or rude posts - you must have me mixed up with someone else
3. Lastly, and this is gonna hurt ... there are more places to sell on line than eBay (sorry 'bout that).

I had to just wait until some generalist came along and said customer service is needed to bring profits. If that is the case I have to wonder why my sales and profits are growing rapidly every year without offering stellar service.
Quite frankly, long ago I realized I think a lot like middle America, and if I operate my business according to what I like as a buyer I'd be successful. That has worked exactly according to plan. Very little service is required to make it work successfully.
As a buyer, the main step to getting my repeat business is friendliness. I classify, "Your item has been sent" under the same category as "May I help you." I consider it bonehead service and very annoying, and never works to gain my repeat buying. A simple thank you (or thanks for coming here) works 100x better.
How funny it is that so many in this thread have decided that my service is so bad and I am such an unresponsive and rude seller, just because I don't send "item was shipped" notices! I do everything else at above and beyond the call of duty--as was outlined by me previously.
Those little notices that some want are an unecessary pain, and if 1 in 50 want it, it's too much.
Typically, the package arrives at the buyers house long before they even start to wonder about it. I offer excellent and reliable service right down the line---ooooppps, except I don't notify when item was shipped---I am so evil, so bad, so far below all the other posters here!
I bet half the time these critics do send the "item was shipped" notices, but probably overcharged on shipping, or had inadequate descriptions, or God knows what else lacking in thier "customer service"! There are a lot of Newt Gingrich's and Bob Livingston's out there. Do as I say, not as I do! I would love to see these posters Ebay ID's. Odds are they're chock full of negs from unsatisfied customers---or as these guys probably have retaliated with "deadbeats"!
You're missing the point of your own post, and that is your intitial comment "please e-mail me when item is shipped" is very common and particularly annoying."
The people who are responding are not necessarily all picking on your bad service, but merely stating that they (we, I) prefer to be notified when an item is shipped.
You started this. Why are you becoming so defensive that you are now reverting to clever statements like "Hahahahahahahah! LOL!!!!"?

Gee, RB, I don't know. Could it possibly be that I am defending myself after being ridiculously criticized for not doing something that is superflous?
Gee, could THAT be it?
Your misunderstanding of MY posts AND your lame attempt at back peddling, now THAT IS funny!
LOL!!!!!
My feedback is loaded with comments like "FAST delivery!", "Great service" and "Polite e-mails". I must be doing something wrong by not sending those "item has been shipped" notices!!
Another poster made a great point: Even if you DO tell the buyer, SO WHAT! It's not like that'll be much of a help anyway!! Stop pandering!

ladyfargo and quickdraw...I feel sorry for you as you both are obviously very unhappy people. That is why you like to treat others with such contempt. Very sad!

On the contrare sharkbaby, just because I don't act like a clown with a smile on my face 24/7 doesn't make me unhappy. And if that's all you can contribute to this thread is your bias judgements then don't come here and spread you filth. This is a discussion on STUPID REQUESTS, keep to it.

Perhaps sharkbaby & jmjones6061 can start their own thread and call it "STUPID COMMENTS from giddy sellers". They would be right at home there.
posted on May 16, 2001 06:17:22 PM
..or they could start a thread called "STUPID SELLER TIPS." #1 on list- Lose money- make you wife sad, but make your customer happy!
Ok back on track, here's a stupid buyer request: "How much is shipping?" Let's see, the box says actual shipping, we add up the postage, a little bit for tape and a box and maybe some for gas and other expenses...
If you just estimate you'll be within a $1-2, why waste my time asking? If you think I may tack on $20, then look at my feedback and see if there's times when I may have done so!
(No I don't endorse stupidty with the people I have a relationship with, customer or otherwise. Happy here in Tahoe).
