You GO Dottie!
I am so right there with you!!
Let the junk-dumpers pay a fat fee.
I am trying to keep mine down.
Plus, I am selling quality and service, not "fell-off-the-back-of-the-Kmart-delivery-truck" items. Dangit!

rewassago: SOooooo you're feedback to eBay would indicate that eBay needs to take awawy the View Sellers Other Items links AND the free Buy It Now option, so that their storefronts would have better value?

Hmmmmmm..... I'll bet eBay could find that feedback "do-able".... (make sure they know your level of frustration regarding this, so that they can GIVE IT TO YA) *wink*

capriole: *giggle*

I try to keep my feedback to eBay in line with the actual needs and concerns of us Mom & Pop sellers. (combined, we ARE an important revenue stream for eBay).

The BIG BOYS have their own voice... their fat wallets!

While I agree your concept is valid your choice of ReturnBuy as an example is not.

eBay invested in ReturnBuy, as they have with other companies, and are both selling in competition with us and stand to benefit when ReturnBuy increases it bottom line and, I assume, goes public with an IPO.

What better investment might be purchased than stock in a marketer selling on ebay and partially owned by eBay who can take advantage of both the venue and information on how to best utalize that venue.

Not clear from the investment reports I read if Meg Whitman got personal stock options, as she has in previous similar transactions, or they are only to the benefit of eBay.

They are brilliant if nothing else.

Rather reminds me of the farmer that tries to find how little feed he can give his animals while still getting maximum effort/profits from them.

Lean is life extending so maybe this is all in our best interests in the long run.

dottie: While I know you are just kidding, I like the "view other auctions" and "buy it now" rather than a storefront. Bidders are more likely to bid on multiple items that way than having to go to a completely different site to look at the rest of my items for sale.

As far as eBay is concerned, I am waiting for the day that they require "recommendations" to be included in an active auction. I can see it now....

Don't bid on this item! We can tell you where you can get it from one of the sellers we have invested in!

and for thetruthseeker: That was a joke.

rewassago: Yeh... I was kiddin' with ya...

But at the same time, I was trying to give you an idea about HOW eBay ASSIMILATES feedback and USES it to EBAYS benefit, while shoveling that COMMUNITY PR "stuff" down our necks.

"Based on FEEDBACK from our Community"....

Translate to:

"it's what you ASKED for!!"...

NOT!

reston_ray, yes, I discovered the returnbuy thread after I posted my comment, but substitute any company in its place.

The point is, if there were no FVF on the storefronts, then [ insert "big boy" of your choice ] would load up their store with high dollar stuff -- and not do it on auctions anymore. Thus depriving mother eBay of tons-o-fees.

I am a "mom-and-pop" seller too (well, maybe just "pop" and I regard these stores as another thing to try, that may or may not build sales. I was horrified when zShops required $40/month to stay on. But I was making much more than $40/mo on sales so I stayed with it. When that ceased to be making money, I dropped out. I tried a website and that seems to be working out, so I'll stay with it until it doesn't. I am trying the storefronts for now, and if it's not worth $9.95 per month, then I'm out. You've just got to stay in flux on a continuous basis.

Everyone is chastizing these storefronts when they have just barely launched and people have just barely learned about them. The raw cynicism on these boards can really get to ya sometimes !!
