Hey WHYNOT.Is there a reason why or WHY NOT you wont
let the AW world know your eBay ID...
I see you post and respect your opinion...(most of the time)
After the incident with Reddeer the other day...
I can understand why some AW threaders would hide behind a fictitious identity...
If you cant answer my question ..maybe some other threaders
can tell me WHY THEY HIDE THEIR EBAY Ids..Please ,Please..I mean no disrespect to anyone just confused..I guess..
One love

Issues discussed here can become heated. There is absolutly no reason to ID your eBay business on any BB if you don't have to - it doesn't make good business sense.

Because some of the posters here WILL interfere with your auctions and take it upon themselves to involve themselves with your off-line life.

would have greater meaning....kind if like why a doctor
hang their degrees on the wall...

Ditto what gravid said!
And that's a fact.
If you really want to know my eBay ID, I'll gladly e-mail it to you jumpinjacko, but I won't put it on these boards for everyone to see.
edited to add last paragraph.

I agree with you in principal but...
I used to list here under my ebay id then one thread got heated some personell remarks were left I was called some nasty names ...I had noted that most peaple here use handles so I changed ..based on remarks made I was not so much concerned with auction interference as I was someone showing up at the door ....I recently had a comfortaion at a ATM machine women started yelling at me when I got in the car my wife commented she could have had a gun !...Its a strange strange world we live in.

Some of us do it so we can "let our hair down", and vent about our pita buyers.
It wouldn't make much sense to come here and call one of my customers a thoughtless jerk, if he knew I was talking about him that way, eh? I'm polite to the thoughtless jerks I do business with....
and, as gravid said Because some of the posters here WILL interfere with your auctions if you spout off an unpopular opinion.

When I first signed up, I used this because I was using it elsewhere. I was going by my email on ebay at the time. Auctionwatch didn't allow that.
I changed my user name on ebay to something more appropriate to what I sell. I asked Auctionwatch about how I change to that name and they said I would have to close account and reopen under new name.
Doesn't seem worth it for a service I don't use anymore.

mrspock - There is so little public courtesy anymore it is sad. I have had several ugly incidents at ATM's because I have asked people who come into the enclosure with me to take their cigarette back outside until I am done. It simply infuriates people to challenge their addictions.
I finally lost my temper when these two young jackasses in satin karate class jackets came in and stood real close to me while I was using the machine and I told them they were inside my private space and to stand back or go outside. The fool turned his back on me and made fun of me to his friend. I suppose they had just come from class and were feeling all pumped up. I turned and slid my elbow under his chin from behind and kicked his knees out from under him so his weight was all hanging on my arm and jammed my pen in his ear and asked him how he would like it shoved in his brain? He was having a little trouble breathing to answer. So I told him to take his Karate #*!@ outside and if he came back in the door he would spend the rest of his pathetic life in a wheel chair telling people not to mess with funny old fat men. When I slid my arm off I kicked him in the ass hard enough to propel him into his friend and they went outside and drove away. He was having major trouble getting his wind back and his friend had to pretty much carry him to the car. I guess they didn't want to tell the police that a fat old man literally kicked his ass. What a tremendous waste of time and money to go learn Karate so you think you can be rude and then find out it does not work for anything with someone that has learned to actually fight and win ruthlessly instead of yell and flail your arms around.

reddear - By no means unless you use it as an excuse for your mouth to write a check your butt can't cash. I wonder why the instructor could not take a look at two like this and say "These guys are here for the wrong reason." Guess it is the money. I swear my wife could take these two before they knew they were in trouble.

Hi JUMPIN*JACK
I have been playing here for awhile and I have seen all sorts of things.
Sometimes the bullies come into the sandbox and they can get mean. I don't want them to follow me home (to my auctions) and start messing with my real toys.
I am a buyer as much as a seller and I have several ID's.
I'm pretty sure that some people know who I am and they have been good to me even though they may not always like the way I play.

Hi jumpinjacko
Even though my ID shows that I haven't been here that long...I have been here since Ebay used to have a live support board! And Carrie was a moderator here. That was over three years ago.
I have seen alot of things happen to people using their real Ebay IDs...Things that I sure didn't want to happen to me, so when I decided that I wanted to stop lurking again and post, I didn't want to use my Ebay ID.

>tell me WHY THEY HIDE THEIR EBAY Ids<
I don't know that I am 'hiding' it, it's more that I just have not really felt the need to boast it aloud.
(i.e. make it public)
I'm not the biggest or best seller on ebay.
I don't have all the answers.
I don't have any problems with PayPal.
I have a proportional amount of NP bidders, and nut cases also.
I guess that I agree with Microbes...
"Some of us do it so we can "let our hair down", and vent about our pita buyers."
As you all know it's nearly impossible to really understand a 'tone of voice' when all you 'hear' is your monitor talking.
Sometimes people interpret things the wrong way.
This statement always comes to mind...
"some of the posters here WILL interfere with your auctions if you spout off an unpopular opinion."
Not hiding, not bragging, not trolling, just here to read the interesting stuff. (and sometimes comment)
