I just love this thread. There is nothing like the adrenaline of finding something for a $1.00 that you think will make you a few bucks, then watching the bidding climb and climb. What a Rush!!!

My sleeper ends today. A few months ago I bought magazines and books in a box for $10. The one magazine is currently up to $50+. I'm glad I did the research because I would have put the set of 8 up as a lot instead of listing them separately.

Bought a videotape for $1.53 and sold it for $202.50. I was skeptical that I would see the money until the p o money order showed up. TOO SWEET!!!

I have always wondered what books to look for. The book sellers are always bragging about how they bought lots of books at the library sale. I live in a small town and we have library sales here. Every book I buy sells on Ebay for 2.00 to 3.00... ANy tips of what look for when buying books to resale...

Sleepers~Bakelite bracelet...pd 5.00 sold for 600.00! It was a dotted. Bought it from a lady who was selling jewelry from her home. The sale had been going on for months. It was a Jewelry for sale "in the paper" sort of sale.

collection of 47 My little Ponies for 8.00 and sold for 141.00.

Love to hear these stories!~

jfuller: I recently bought some books at a library sale here in my small town but I after they were marked down to $1 a bag. I sell most of my books on half.com and turn a decent profit. I occasionally come across a book that sells for a decent price on eBay but that is very rare.

By the way, my 8 Fine Woodworking Magazines closed at $187.98 last night! Now, to just get the money from the buyer.

Another hint: don't pass up the table of ugly stuffed animals. Paid ten cents for a large Care Bear - $26! I know that's not big bucks to some people, but that'll buy dinner out!

I have two stories, the first was eight decks of playing cards i bought for a total of 80 cents. They were old railroad, store, and airway cards. So far I have sold three of the decks for a grand total of $171.37, for a 30 cent investment. The other story is a coke bottle I got as a gift from friends who were traveling to Mexico. It was a commemorative bottle from 1997 or 98. I was liquidating my bottle collection due to lack of room, and it sold for $238.00. They paid about $3.00 for the six pack. I'm going to let them know if they want to sell theirs, it will probably get them a bundle.

Not found at a yard sale, but my mother had an old deck of cards for years, given to her as a child.

I always thought they were worthless as most of her other treasures are.

Sure enough, when the Roadshow was in town we took them there and were told they were worth $2.

So, she decided she had nothing to lose by putting them on Ebay.

They sold for over $350!

Nothing yet this year, but in years past:

Paid .25 for a Cabbage Patch telephone, sold for $25.

Paid $1 for a huge pink planter marked Lenox. Was HTF (really) and sold for over $100.

Paid .25 for a plastic tablecloth (torn) sold it for almost $90.

Paid .50 for a paperback book at an antique store, sold for $37.00.

Paid $3.50 for a cocktail shaker type thing. Sold for $50.

You really don't want to hear about all our loser items do you? LOL

BTW, if anyone has one of these, LMK, because I would be interested in purchasing it - [email protected]

I have had a few items sell that I still can't believe, I bought a NASA hardhat for a quarter, sold $55.00, a Boots n Coots oil well firefighter patch .25, sold for 35.00. But the reason I get up at 5 am on Saturday, bought 100 old architect magazines for $25.00, sold 15 for $500.00.
