I have the Polaroid PDC 640. It came with a smart media memory card, flash path adpater, ac cord, serial cable and a cable to view the photos on the TV too. It was almost 2 years ago and cost $250 at Target, now I see they are only $139.00 on Walmart.com. My eBay name is fonze so you can see the pics if you want. It has a macro setting. It's a good camera I was going to get a Kodak recently but was really junky when I looked at it up close and made a big clinking noise when you took the pics and didn't have a power cord etc.

Hi
Buy the Sony Mavica 73 or 75.
I have the 73 and it works great.
Prior to the 73 I was scanning like crazy and of course could not take "modeling" shots like I love to do with items.
You can use the Mavica 73 or 75 for your own personal picture taking, too. I have not tried printing them, however, I understand that maybe a 4x6 would come out ok.
We are what is called Mavicians.
God bless,
Jeff

A big THANK YOU to diesteldorf for starting this thread, to all who recommended the Mavica camera and to capotasto who let us in on the Office Max deal.
I took a little time to play with my Mavica 73 and LOVE IT! There are a lot more features on this camera than I thought there would be. The zoom is fantastic!
Here is a pic of my baby zoomed in from about 3 feet away.
(My first time adding a photo here -- hope it works.)
Thanks again...the people on this board are the greatest!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm seriously thinking about going with the Sony Mactiva FD-73. Unfortunately, I don't have an OfficeMax in my area. Would anyone be willing to buy one at the $200 price/rebate
and ship it to me?
Thanks.

Hi diestledorf,
I wonder if you called their 800 number if they could help?
1-800-788-8080
They had to call every store in town to get mine...and it was the last one!
Good Luck!

Half.com is having a blowout sale on digital cameras. Check there if you can't find one elsewhere.
Maybe http://www.mysimon.com, too. Might find one there.
whoops, forgot the dubyas.

Mavice FD 73 You will never regret buying one. Taken in poor light with no flash. I have taken better pictures, but this is one of my favorites.

Yes, it sure is. If they ever ran a contest for pets & the "Got Milk" ad, Peepers would probably win.

I called the 800 # and had no luck. I
found a few on half.com and the only ones they had were around $300 or higher.
I'd still like to cash in on the $199 deal but perhaps I'll have to look for a different model. Time will tell.

Horray!!! I called about 10 different stores
and found one that had it. It was marked
at $399.99 but I told her that I had heard from a "friend" that there was a $200 instant
rebate on the item. She said (very politely)
"Sir, there is no way that they would be doing that. $199 just isn't realistic."
She stated that the item was being discontinued. I said, "Exactly. That's the reason for the rebate." Then I asked her nicely if she could scan the item. She told me to wait and....it rang up $207 with tax.
I asked her if there was anyway she could ship it to me and she said that they only ship to other stores. Well, I called up my local store and got them to call her back
AND CONFIRM THAT I WOULD GET THE $200 PRICE.
They are sending one to my store. I am so
happy!!! BTW, can anyone confirm that these are indeed new and not refurbished? Though,
if it works, I guess I don't care.
Also, does it come with rechargeable batteries or are those extra?
I'm only asking because some digital cameras
run on plain AA

Congratulations!!
The Mavica comes with one rechargeable battery. If you're a high-volume seller, you might want to invest in a second one--that way you can use one while the other's charging.

I posted another thread about this but somehow, I must have messed up. It's not there anymore. This thread on another site tells how to get a HP 215 camera + accessory kit almost for free after rebates and stuff. Hope this helps, it is a decent camera but some people say it is a battery hog. Can't be that bad for free!

diesteldorf-
it comes with the battery and a charger - also has the software, lenscap and shoulderstrap -
I've been playing with mine and tweaking some of the images - the software has lots of tools and effects - Im very impressed with it
My office has the Mavica FD-7 (I think) and I've used it in the past - this one has oh-so-many more features. It's a much better camera than I expected. I do so love it when I get a quality item at a great price.
Hope all goes well with your store transfer - Keep us posted

I was told that the local stores could do an inventory search for you because all store databases are linked. You could try this method. Personally, I prefer the down and dirty method of calling individual stores
to see if they have it. (That is one cased where I put more faith in the store workers rather than a computer)
Go to www.officemax.com and call away.
Find one that has it. Have your CA store call them and you are all set.
BTW, there was someone in CA who said the
stores had them, but the instant $200 off was
not showing up. Perhaps it was you. If it was, call another store that has one w/ the $200 and have them talk to your store in CA,
I'm betting they would be willing to pricematch.

That is great news! You are going to be soooo happy with this camera!
These are brand new cameras in the box. The battery is an "InfoLithium" and the camera displays the amount of time you have left before needing to recharge. It will recharge quickly but I agree with bunnicula that I backup would be handy.

Keep trying! Let us know how you do. Think they would sell you one with the discount if you printed out this thread and took it in with you?

My OfficeMax had the Mavica 73 displayed at the regular $399 price, but it scanned on the cash register at $199. The employees were surprised---they knew nothing about the $200 price reduction....and apparently the 'clearance price' had been coded into the store computer, but no one had been told to put a "sale" or "clearance" sign on the display camera. If they had, the store would have been sold out of the camera (I got the last NIB one, leaving nothing but the display model camera there).
I've been using a 4-year-old HP camera, and it IS a 'battery hog', as margaret5 suggested. It uses 4 AA batteries, which don't last long when I use the flash and download into my computer (aside from all the glitches I have with it now).

Great info on this post. I just came back from Walmart. They have the Polaroid
PDC-640CF on clearance for $99. I almost bought it, but in reading the specifications there was no mention of a macro setting. I definatly need good close up shots. Does anyone know what the CF in the name means? Is this the same camera everyone says is so great? My intuition said don't buy it so I didn't. I'm thinking maybe I should wait a bit and get a Mavica instaed. I need something that will pick up the print on a package. Thanks!!

One good thing with the digi camera is also to get extended ( 1 -3 years)
Warranty,
I use very expensive Canon
That cost me about $1250.00
And I bought 3 years warranty for like
$150.00 extra, It didnt break by it self yet, but I dropped it about 4 months ago
And having tile floors didnt help, so the camera broke ( it lost some little
Nut and bolt inside ) anyway, I walked into Best Buy and no questions asked I got a new one on the spot.
I do know that Best Buy offers
These extended warraties on cheaper (200 -500)cameras so you dont have to buy mine to get it,
I use it profesionaly and ebay is only a "bonus" use, but with the technology
Changing so ofter it's cheaper to just buy a whole new one after the 3 years are over.
