Good thread here.
1. Leather and Lace--Stevie Nicks, Don Henley--this was my wedding song, it's cheesy but I still love it.
2. Urgent--Foreigner
3. and whatever that song is from Grease, I think it is called Summer Loving? I love that one too.

Excellent thread and not a political comment in sight!
The first song that comes to my mind when I think of favs is a song Whitney Houston sang at the opening of the Barcelona Olympics called "One Moment In Time".
Also one of my all-time favs is from a musical called Company...the song is 'Being Alive'.
I love so many Sondheim songs and I'm a sucker for torch songs, like Carly Simon's "Not a Day Goes By" and an old Judy Garland song "The Man That Got Away".
I have to also agree with femme on Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Pareau on Amazing Grace.
I have to add "The Greatest Love of All" to the list, as well as many Johnny Mathis songs, and Pat Benatar songs, including some from her blues cd "True Love", and a lot of the older songs by Heart, Barbra Streisand, and Karen Carpenter. And a little-known song by Elvis called "If I Can Dream".
Aaaaaaaagh, now I have a gazillion tunes in my head! lol
edited to add "Memory" from Cats before it was done to death

Well, I wouldn't admit this to just anyone, especially since I am over 40, but I love the words to Green Days "Good Riddance"
Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to do.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask
why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.
I hope you had the time of your life.
I hope you had the time of your life.
I also like Jackson Browne "The Pretender" and Toto "The Road Goes On"

Reading this has made me want to go drag out the albums and listen to a bunch of songs I haven't thought of for awhile. Got Little Feat on now.

Wow, I forgot about "Turn the Page". That song sends chills. I used to play it on the jukebox all the time and everybody would say "Alright!" but nobody else ever seemed to think about playing it.
eyeguy6: If I vote for "Seasons in the Sun", will you cheer up?

Cats In The Cradle
Harry & Sandy Chapin
My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Tomorrow I will probably sayWAITI like this one a little better

AC/DC Who Made Who
Lloyd Price Stagger Lee
Verdi's Aida
That song from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tell Me on a Sunday "Take that look off your face, I can see through your smile..." Love that song, can't find the cd to put the name of it down though.

This is kinda embarrassing (LOL!) but I like just about anything from the 70's and 80's.
In particular:
ELO (Don't Bring Me Down)
REO Speedwagon (Keep on Loving You)
Tom Petty (anything!)
Steppenwolf (Magic Carpet Ride)
BTO (You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet)
Lynard Skynard (Sweet Home Alabama)
Duran Duran (just about anything)
Dexy's Midnight Runners (Come On Eileen)
J. Geils Band (Centerfold, Freeze Frame)
The Fixx (One Thing Leads to Another)
ABBA (anything! Boy, this one's embarrassing!)
All the music from Grease (Have you read some of the lyrics??? Some of them are practically X-rated! Ack!)
The Cars (You Might Think, Magic)
Beach Boys (anything!)
Adam Ant (Goody Two Shoes)
Bryan Adams (Cuts Like a Knife, and ... and ... and ... Oh!!! I can't think of it!)
Chicago (anything)
Phil Collins (anything)
Joe Walsh / Eagles (anything)
CCR (anything)
Songs played at my wedding: Always by Atlantic Starr, You're the Inspiration by Chicago
I don't like country music at all, but I can tolerate the group Alabama.
Edited to add: Straight from the Heart, by Bryan Adams! (hadta go look it up!)
