Do you guys think it would be possible to accept Yahoo's PAyDirect for Ebay auctions?

Just wondering. I was considering trying to unload some of my "Yahoo rejects" on Ebay. I have a few other sellers' things bookmarked on Yahoo that I'm considering bidding on & if I could get a few fast PayDirect payments into my PayDirect account to zap to those sellers, I'd be a lot more inclined to place bids.

What do you guys think? My head is telling me that even if it's OK by Yahoo it probably isn't by Ebay, but has anyone actually tried it?

CAgrrl, I don't see why not. Same thing as taking Paypal - an alternative payment service that ebay does not own.

CAgrrl - I just searched and pulled up a few - paydirect, Yahoo Pay Direct, etc... on ebay. It's a matter of time, they'll be a whole lot more. Anyone want to bet?

LOL!!!

I LOVE it!!

VeryModern, how smart you were to search PayDirect on Ebay's site! very clever.

I only have 2 auctions running on Ebay now, but I think I'm going to revise them to include PayDirect as an option.

CAgrrl - I have used PAYPAL for months now and run thousands of dollars through it with never a problem, I LOVE PAYPAL.

I'll will have to look at this new system on Yahoo, I have been off the boards for a while as I simply didn't have time to handle orders while I was updating auctions, creating new Web Pages, and such, so I wasn't aware of it, but I may sign up, but I'll keep PayPal also......

I use the direct deposit from PayPal, and it has been perfect, on time, couldn't ask for more.

jwpc-

PayPal does not appeal to me in the least. I don't have a bank account, so there is no reason whatsoever for me to accept it. Direct deposit money into what? Also, there is no way for me to get "verified" through them since I couldn't possibly provide them with something that I don't have.

PayDirect, on the other hand, will let me accept credit cards from customers & will let me use their payments to credit my credit card. And none of that "verified" crap. I have completed 2 PayDirect transactions so far & as of right now I couldn't be happier with the service.

I'm sure that PayPal users are very happy with that service, but PayPal does not meet my present needs. Thank God for PayDirect!

VeryModern,

Don't you know that ebay is just THRILLED to see their sellers offering Yahoo! PayDirect as a payment option on ebay auction listings!!!!!!!!!????????????????

You said, "It's a matter of time, they'll be a whole lot more. Anyone want to bet?"

I'll take on that bet. There are only a couple people offering it on ebay, and when ebay realizes it, I think they'll SQUELCH the whole thing by making the mention of Yahoo! PayDirect on their listings AGAINST THE RULES. After all, what's one more rule to ebay????????

granee - ebay banning Paydirect? I would not put it past them, that's for sure, but I don't see how they could get away with it.

People transact and pay by checks and Ebay gets no cut. MO's same thing. Paypal, same thing. Billpoint, same thing and so on and on. Also, as of today, with Paypal so widely accepted it is probably in ebay's best interest to have another service dilute the hold on the market that Paypal has currently.

Thanks for taking the bet though granee - very sporting! Given time I don't think ebay can ban paydirect anymore than they can ban an Yahoo email address. I also think that with time more and more with gravitate to yahoo because they don't jack you around.

It is much easier to build a business when you do not have stop to regroup after a car crashes through your front window once a week (ebay's constant changing of the rules, the fees, the site, etc.) or stop to put out a fire in the back room (paypal's freezing of accounts, policy changes and their squirreliness which gives you the idea they could explode or implode at any time).

Ebay/Paypal (who would have thought they would ever be lumped together) apparently do not appreciate the stress that they place on sellers when they have to say no to the
Billpoint Buyer dollar or the Verification once, twice or ten times a day.

Yahoo offers much reduced stress via stability and this gives the impression that they are in control which allows people to relax and focus on selling. They have shown me that they will allow me to be successful TOO as opposed to CONSUMING me and counting on a another fish to come around the corner. Long term - the latter wins. There is no question about that.

Well, I'm willing to be "guinea pig". I just changed my 2 Ebay auctions to state that I accept PayDirect, although I didn't specifically state "Yahoo" in my Ebay auction. I did a search for "PayDirect" to see how other sellers were doing it & most of the listings I saw made no reference to Yahoo, only to PayDirect.

I'll let you know if Ebay does anything crazy like shut me down. They might not even notice at first while only a few people are offering PAyDirect as an option, but eventually they will figure it out & will probably get pretty irked. That's what I think. But who knows what steps they will take? I'm not placing any bets though, I'm a "wait & see" kinda girl.

Incidently, I got a bid on one of the auctions immediately following the revision I made.

I just had a customer pay me by Paydirect and she has apparently sent to the wrong email. Is there a way for her to cancel the transaction? I can't find any info on this.

Thanks.

Very Modern:

You mean Paydirect lets you send a payment to someone who isn't registered? And then they have to open an account to collect it? Where are all the anti-Paypal people screaming about "auction interference" and "coercion?" Why is it only "wrong" if Paypal does it?

yisgood - you talkin' to me?

That's my Deniro imitation.

I never said Paypal coerced anyone. I believe people have free will.

The complaints others made about Paypal had something to do with $5 I think, but really I dunno. You should ask them directly.

ooooh baby, this is slick! I just had another auction *directly paid* and it cannot be beat for the Yahoo seller. No signing in
Paypal, eating cookies, just click - accept and click click click and the cash is credited to my cc in less than 2 seconds.

On another note when I "accepted" payment I was prompted for my SSN but it specifically stated that although they were required to ask, I was NOT required to disclose.

You probably should review the PayPal threads again.

>>>the latest grip on all this with PP IS: if a customer isn't happy, they can "back charge your acct "<<<

According to the PayPal user agreement this will not happen.

>>>I believe by this verification,(don't quote me) it allows them to request that you deposit $ to cover a charge back refund.<<<

Again this is not accurate. PayPalDamon has addressed all of these concerns.

We now use Yahoo Paydirect but if they start charging for the service we will imediately switch back to PayPal (exclusively) for online payments.

uh-oh. Had a customer email me this morning saying she had some problem with the PAyDirect registration & payment process. She said after entering her initial info it kept sending her back to the rules page. She gave up in frustration & is now planning to send a money order.

I haven't actually paid anyone through PayDirect & had no idea how to help her. Does anyone know what went wrong?

Also, I was wondering about you guys' feelings on the option to send a request for payment via paydirect. Initially I was thinking that it might not be the best idea to send one with my invoices just because it might seem, well, pushy. If it makes it easier for the customer to send payment I might reconsider though. Has anyone had the oportunity to use the "request payment" option? If so how did it go?

I've used PAYPAL happily and successfully for months.

When I read the "fine" print on PayDirect, there just seemed like too many if this, and if that, and we aren't responsible for so & so, etc. etc.

I'd like to use it, but think I'll sit back and wait till it has a bit of age on it, and see how things go.

Most of my Yahoo Customer's use PayPal, plus we have our own merchant's account also, so think I'll see how the rest of you do, after a month or so of experiencing this system. I have found Yahoo GREAT to use, but sorely lacking in any type of customer service, which is rather frightening when dealing with funds.

I'd love to hear how the PAYDIRECT system works for you all after a month or so.

Have been paid 3 times by Paydirect now, and it is my preferred method primarily because of the speed and ease of use. I look forward to being able to send Paydirect invoices when the use of the service is more pervasive, and I am wholly confident
this will occur.

WELL I decided to go ahead and get wild and sign up for PAYDIRECT, and test the system on a couple of auctions - all the signing up went well till I went to the options, and since I don't want funds sent to my credit card but to my bank, the whole thing tumbled down. PAYDIRECT refuses my account number because it doesn't have the amount of numbers their system thinks it should have!!! I have all my PAYPAL funds automatically deposited into my checking account (the same account that I tried to set up for PAYDIRECT to deposit in) but alas the system refused to accept my account number! So, at the moment, since I don't find anyone to write to to correct this mess I won't be using PAYDIRECT - what a bummer!

I just received a payment through Paydirect, and they won't deposit it-I get an error message that says I gave them the wrong address, but it's correct when I check it! I'm certainly not going to use it again, if I can't get my $ from Yahoo!

I emailed help at Yahoo about 5 hours ago, and no reply, perhaps they are off for the weekend, but after reading the comment above about not being able to retrieve one's funds, think I'll just hang out of this a while longer.

Thanks VeryModern

I signed up last night, but have a problem setting up my checking account! They say the account number has to be eight digits long and mine is only seven! It is my business account!

I contacted Paydirect, but have not received a reply as yet! They wanted more information on the messages I received! Hopefully get something back on Monday!

Setup to add to auction looks simple! Just go to the options tab in MY Auctions and click on the ENABLE Pay Direct to add it to your auctions!

Their invoice also looks super, since you can list multiple wins on the invoice prior to sending!

Imagine E-GREED will steal this Idea with a FEE!!!:0

No reply yet! o:

I hope they give us a link!

I would love nothing more then to filter some bucks from E-GREED!

To those of you having trouble registering your bank account on Yahoo! PayDirect....

Awhile back, my bank practically FORCED a debit card for my account down my throat (my 24 hour auto-teller card had expired and needed replacing---and they INSISTED the Visa debit card was better, because I could use it on the teller machine AND in lieu of writing checks).

Then when I got an X.com account, they automatically sent a debit card along with my checks.

I didn't appreciate having a debit card until signing up online for payment services. The debit card is accepted by everyone's system as a credit card (because it has all the right numbers), but allows me to withdraw the funds directly into my bank account.

You might consider getting debit cards for your bank accounts to solve these problems.

WARR I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, I submitted my business account number which is 7 numbers and the system rejected it. I wrote support 3 days ago, and have gotten no response.

If you hear anything from them, please post it as I would like to test PayDirect, but I can't even start when I can't get it to accept my bank account number - and can't get them to respond to the problem.

Granee thanks for the suggestion, but as a professional, I tend to question a system that can't recognize a business account number on a checking account. I had NO problem when I registered with PayPal, and I have all my funds deposited into the same business account.

AT least PayDirect's Support should have responded to my request for help or suggestions. If they are so lax, or lacking in enough people in support to handle their e-mail at this point, how much more will they be, when a multitude of folks are using the system.

I have always gotten quick responses on questions sent to PAYPAL, but this initial experience with PAYDIRECT hasn't been a good one.

I will attempt once more to write them regarding the bank account numbers, and let the board know if they ever respond. WARR, let us hear from you if you get a response and what they had to say.
