Well besides it being the American way which is so good, E-Bay is just using good business sense which should help ALL of E-bays sellers. I would say A4A will make E-Bay better than ever when its finished, don't you agree Amy?

I have been advertising a service I perform on ebay for 3 or 4 months and NEVER actually had anyone bid. Until AFA that is, I had someone bid and they have since ordered extra services. Just one AFA believer's opinion

rubylane, technically, you can write off SOME of it.
For example, if you go to a benefit dinner, and it costs $100.00 per plate, and the dinner would cost $25.00 normally, you can STILL write off $75.00 of it.
Likewise, if you spend $450.00 on a $200.00 quilt for charity, and it is a charity you can normally write off donations, you CAN claim the difference.
"So the best way for me to keep my sales up is for me to run items every week on A4A and use them to try to draw buyers away from the other sellers. Now thats what you call the American way."
Nothing in your comment had to do with ebay having, or not having, good business sense...In fact, the comment seems more directed towards yourself (representing the sellers on ebay) and your questioning of the ethics of drawing customers away from other sellers using the A4A (and by extension..the ethcs of ever attempting to draw buyers away from other merchants). The sarcastic last sentence implies that you think this behavior is NOT the American way.
Now you say "Well besides it being the American way which is so good...which again seems a sarcastic comment meant to imply that the "American way" is in reality not so good.
Without that "American way" none of us would anywhere near what we have today. Without that "American way" we wouldn't be the envy of most of the world.
Actually, it is not the "American way", it is the free market, capitalistic way.
As for ebay...yes they are using good business sense. It is good business sense to help the community the company resides in (in this case, the U.S.) and ebay is doing that. Giving to charity is compassionate and it helps to increase business and many, many major US companies donate to charity for both reasons.
With Meg's appearances on TV to drum up support about A4A I would say A4A will make ebay better when it is finished. Many people will see Meg on TV and will decide to bid on a charity auction or two on ebay...then they will more than likely look at other items and a proportion of them will stay on as new members. New members help to keep this marketplace robust.
A4A is not hurting any of us...there will not be sellers driven out of business because of A4A. Ebay is slow right now because of the current events of the past few weeks...the buying public hasn't completely recovered yet.
